guys, i have a very rough day about a note 2 i bought today.. hope anyone can give me guidance or offer me a service to resurrect my note 2..

today about 8am me and a forumer meet at salak selatan to cod for a note 2.. im the buyer. we have a deal last night and cod in the morning. when cod i expect everything to be nice and i want a smooth deal because its early in the morning and everyone got other things to do so i check the phone appearance and firmware version only. everything seems nice till i get home to test the phone and put a simcard. i got no network so i decide to check for simcard by trying on other phones.. sim working. i put back on the phone still not network and such.. i do a few reboot and factory resets but still no go. i google for answers maybe it just some bug or setting is not right.. but i couldnt find anything till i read about imei number.

so i check the imei number of this phone, its wierd and i search for that imei in the web it turns out to be something wrong with the EFS file? i did some reading and i found that this is due to flashing roms without backup the EFS partition. i check the phone thoroughly and i found superuser app which mean the device is rooted right? i didnt notice this earlier. i try to update the phone but cant because the firmware status is modified. then i ask the seller bout this phone cant connect to network but he said yesterday he still use it fine. i tried to find some solution in the web, xda forum mostly but its very hard and need the backup of the EFS partition.

004999010640000 is the current imei and i look under the battery, the original imei is very different, everybody post in the web about the exact imei i got now. its a bad imei. so i decide to go for a refund, i kindly ask the seller for a refund coz i really need the money coz i urgently need to use a smartphone. but he didnt reply, i keep asking for refund i even lowered the price so i could just use the money to buy other phone but still he didnt want. i know its also my fault not checking the phone thoroughly upon purchasing because before this, every deal i made went smooth.

so guy, what can i really do about this phone? do anyone here know how to repair the imei to original one? does anyone here provide such service? i spent almost a day in front of my PC looking for this matter but still no go. hope someone kind enough willing to help me out. tq

Sad to hear of your story.

What is the firmware model now? This will help to narrow some possible answers.

Some have said that the EFS folder is in some other folder which I can't recall, but probably stated in the XDA threads.

Is it an SME set?

I have read too many things so cannot remember exactly where you can find the details, but if you install a root explorer you may be able to find the EFS file to reflash your IMEI.

Otherwise, you can follow the steps in post 7 to unroot your device to send to the service center.

Anyway, the worst is you go to the Samsung Service Center and have them reflash your IMEi/EFS.

noobi3 can you confirm that SC can perform EFS reflash? I think you said less than RM50?
*
nope, its an AP from directd. i cant install root explorer, its paid right? i dont have a credit card. i just use ES file explorer.

the service centre accept this type of issue? if less than rm50 then im very happy. i will look for the unroot method bro, thanks for trying to help me

I think for this to succeed you need to FIRST have a backed up EFS right?
*

Just curious why you didn't try out the SIM when you got the phone.
*

according to her, the EFS folder is still there, only the wrong kernel cannot somehow read the IMEI correctly

so, flash the stock MF2 ROM to enable the correct IMEI, then copy out the EFS folder as per instructions

btw, who's the seller? you should make complaint
*
how to copy out EFS if install stock rom? need to root back?

this is the seller.. Steven4297

but i think make complaint wont solve anything because the phone still like that unless he wants to refund which i think he's not.. so i think i should focus on how to make this things work...

Your EFS file is corrupted due to some flashing done by previous owner . Look thru his internal memory , do u see any files with .ez ending ? If not , go over to SME . I dont think directd got the equipment to restore your EFS . I know SME has it but since u r AP , u might be charged . For SME units , its FOC even if u r rooted as I screwed up mine b4 .
*
how much they charge for AP set? which samsung centre u go?

bro i did that method and i got a unique IMEI not like before. but still no network and on pulldown menu shows emergency calls only.. i still remember the seller said something about he already send back to directd and change motherboard. now the IMEI is good but it is not the same with under the battery. how to check for blacklisted IMEI? im afraid the motherboard used to repair the phone before this is stolen.

Oh in that case, post 4 has a link to the stolen IMEI database from last year. However there is currently no national IMEI blacklist database.

mikecmy advised that you simply flash in stock DMF2, which could bring back your IMEI. See his post from early this morning.
*
yup i flashed a prerooted DFM2 and got IMEI, but the IMEI is not the same as on the box and behind battery cover. i got no network. every time i dialed a msg tells 'not registered on network'

The MWT02 and MWT03 look pretty nice, and the MWT03 looks almost identical to the LG WCP300.
Both of these use the standard micro usb with 5V 2A which means you can use your existing cables and chargers. The large slab uses 9V with a different connector. I have had enough with different connectors all over the place.

I didn't see where it gave the rating for the receiving coils though.
Perform a factory reset and try again if it registers. It should be able to read the APN from the SIM IF it works, and give you back your network.

This means that DirectD does not have EFS flashing software. Did you try calling Samsung?
*
i just called Samsung, at 1st they dont wanna repair AP set coz they say AP parts not the same as Samsung malaysia parts... but i convince them its maybe not because of parts, its software kind of faults, then he said just bring the phone to service centre at lowyat plaza 4th floor, they will check the phone and if can repair they will charge for it.

but i have a question, can i bring this phone with prerooted MF2 firmware or should i install other firmware before bring it to service centre?

Just bring it in. It does not matter the firmware or rooted as you are not claiming warranty.

okay thanks.. i better go lowyat now..
