Those of you who love the Note 2 will have no issues with the bigger 6 inch Note3. You will get use to it within a day. Having used the bigger 5.9 Vega, 6.1 Mate n 6.3 Mega I would say Note 2 size 5.5 seems small already
Nowadays you see Sony, HTC n several China n Korean makers jumping into the 5.3 to 6.4 display sizes to capture a slice of this increasing market
It is like what Steve Job had said, something along these lines " create something for the user who does not really know what they want" n having used it they just cannot accept anything else
When Samsung released the 5.3 Note many expect it to fail. History had proven this wrong
My first 5incher Dell Streak was a failure mainly due to its bad lag n mediocre performance. The Note easily dispose it off

The Note 2 by default has excellent battery life. I dont see the need to use any 3rd party battery savings apps such as DSBS, Greenify, ICS Battery saver, etc. Such apps will not increase your battery life , say by another 1 hour , perhaps only marginal increase. I cane easily get 7-8 hours SOT on 3G mainly ; with WiFi usage 8-9 hours is commonly achieved. In a normal working day, no one will be using their phone 6-8 hours continuously unless you use the phone to work
I have since on my seconds unit did not use any more custom kernels n custom roms - everything is stock. And I am very happy with it especially with the latest official firmware
Compared to Note 2, I am only hitting 6 hours+ SOT on my Mega 6.3 on similar usage

Ever since I found out that S-note was platform locked, I stopped using it.
Using HandyNote, I found that the Evernote export is just a static image  mad.gif
The dropbox integration is better in that it stores the native HNF file so is far more portable this way.

Well, I seriously find the HTC One Sense has some lacking stuff if you're coming from TW. I was completely surprised to read that they have no multiple toggle equivalent and some very basic functionality of settings access is missing from the H1 ROM. WTF.

And they have to wait for 4.2.2 to get that????

And their 4.2.2 update just got canned today it seems. So......
*
HTC also has very lame battery usage info : its graphical representation of battery use is horribly lousy ( worse of all the phones I have used) and you cannot even see screen on time. Need to install a 3rd party apps to know it

Correct me if im wrong but I thought modem has no influence on Wifi. I think I read it somewhere in xda. Basically modem has something to do with mobile network signal. Now im confuse. Gonna do some reading first about this before I flash.

The modem file controls both your wifi n phone connections

Previously when this problem happen i always send back to samsung service center but very troublesome. Since it happen very offen, better i just buy/get the tools to open the back case and remove battery to reset myself.

Anyone have any idea where can find the tool locally?

take care when going out there folks

This morning in Muar ( just 55km away from my place) API reading was a disastrous and unbelievable 746 !!! I figure my place is around 400-500 past few days too. You can even sense the burning smell inside the house. Even driving , you can feel it inside the car. Better stay indoors and not go out anymore. Schools closed last 3 days and I think it will be so next week if this continue. KL reading 100-200 is nothing vs what we are seeing and experiencing down south.
Our environment minister Pala is still unaware of the sufferings and still enjoying his life from the comforts of his home in KL. He is only planning to go over to Indonesia next Wed when it should be immediately done since last week. Many people who earn their living selling stuffs by the roadside is now badly affected and forced to cease business.

Do read my posts on these 2 in the official thread
Your choice depend on what you wish beside display size
Overall my personal needs I prefer the HuaWei Mate

I did a cut out of the XZU size ( green cut out) and placed my Mega 6.3 ontop. I think it is not an issue at all for me handling it. Even the Mega 6.3 I am already very comfortable using it.

Yeah, and even the Note II feels very, very big on my hands liao.  Dunno whether how the Mega, Ascend Mate is going to fare on my hands... sweat.gif
Hopefully this is not the trend of making tablet-sized phones... sweat.gif
If the trend really continues, I'd rather get a tablet... (Fonepad anyone? tongue.gif)

Oh, BTW, the Note III is rumored to have a 5.7 inch display... (hope this is true though)

Pop over to tablet xperia z thread n see comparison photos of mega n mate vs fonepad. If you think these phones are big see how much bigger fonepad is even though its display is 7 inch. I posted it today only

yeah even worse than note 2
but the processor should be good in power saving @@

Too early to conclude this just based on battery size.
Xperia Z stamina mode is amazingly good n is best I have seen in all phones I have used. It works definitely unlike others to conserve power. If it performs similarly as XZ the phone standby mode could possibly outclass Note2.

I read exactly same comments as yours when Note n Note 2 was released
Yet users had adapted to it. You will if you need to
Holding a 5+ inch phone these days is common sight
Using a 7 inch tablet for calls seems be a growing trend too. Asus fonepad n latest huawei media pad is make for this - a tablet meant to make calls unlike Samsung Tabs which is a tablet with bonus phone call features

Mayb..but for now im sure that note2 is really pushin the envelope for me..im not wearing a skinny jeans n for now i foresaw im not gonna wear those big cargo pants..so note2 size is good for me..in any case im gonna stick with note2 for awhile..not as rich as u r la uncle..huhu..can change gadget at whim..

This has nothing to do with whether one is rich or not or wishing to change
It is an issue of changing trend n users getting adapt to it if they need such stuffs

Off topic : Just couldn't resist but wish to share this latest development. I'd said this is the biggest joke in M'sian history - the EC finally admitted in Parliament today the indelible ink is not silver nitrate based. "No chemical was used in the ink but it was instead replaced with permitted food colouring," said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim

Now plenty tweets about this :
Maybe supplier mistaken indelible to be ink edible?
Outstanding: Indelible ink actually food dye. This issue sure won't dye one.
This edible ink business puts to rest the matter of compulsory passes for English in schools.
Inkcompetency: The ability to dye without trying.
Ah so! They were confused between indelible and inedible!

I smell some big rotten fish in this fiasco. And we M'sian taxpayers was told the ink cost us RM7 MILLION !!! The EC hopefully is unknowingly being cheated by the supplier. Worst the Minister said for security reasons, he cannot reveal the company supplying the ink - what a load of bullshit !

Hello fellow forumer and ex-Note 2 user.

When/Where is the by-election tongue.gif ? Haze has clouded my mind...

benny888 good one.

Off topic : This Terengannu UMNO chap passed away and a new by election is coming up. Interesting as BN only 2 seats majority in Terengannu. If PR wins this, it would mean a HUNG state government.
