Hey for travellers to China, how do you guys access to FB from there?
Any VPN service to recommend? I don't think I can survive not to access to FB for few days. I depend on it for my source of information. laugh.gif
If possible something that I can login straight from Note II.

Tenkiu. Just got an update today, will be travelling to Beijing in August with my boss for a training. biggrin.gif

I can register my CC straight from Google Play once I want to buy an app or need to login to Google Wallet and start all over again?
Sorry, I'm noob. laugh.gif

You can do it directly at google play. It'll prompt you to add payment method directly

Mine is due to storage issue.
I don't carry handbag and usually female pants are not as baggy as men's. laugh.gif
So, difficult to slot into pocket.
*
With the crime rates on the rise I usually feel discouraged to carry a handbag out on the streets.

Either I hold it in my palm or I slot it all the way down my pockets leaving half of my Note 2 sticking out of my pocket while sacrificing my mobility (I can't crouch nor bend or else I might bend it)

Sometimes we do need a smaller phone.

Actually we're expecting too much on the 4.2.2. I bet when it released, everyone will be complaining that there's nothing much on the updates lol.
*
actually, there will be one complain that is consistent with all new firmware release -- wah, this new version drain battery like nobody's business!
it will go on for weeks and then just die off...

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jun 24 2013, 11:53 PM)
By that time, everyone's eyes are on Note III. tongue.gif

ya, now that new rumours are saying Note3 is gonna be just 5.7"...

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jun 24 2013, 11:56 PM)
Samsung's strategy, purposely makes the release slow for older models. So that consumers' attention can be shifted to newer models.
Purposely packs the newer models with 4.2.2. laugh.gif
*
yup, if same functions, etc is available on old phone, who will still wanna buy new phone?

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jun 25 2013, 12:02 AM)
So if I want to purchase apps, will that be inconvenient?
Like need to register my CC again?
*
i used to register, use, remove cc... then when need to use again, register, use, remove.

last week, found out we have some prepaid visa card options now in MY. very cheap to setup too. i've signed up for one and will test it out + feedback here after that. i'm sure everyone here knows what's prepaid... so i'm just gonna put a little bit of $ inside it... but when i need to buy something big with the card, just need to topup before purchase.

the card i applied is AirAsia/ Tune's Big card. rm10 for processing. there's annual fee but if you swipe more than 6 times a year, annual fee is waived. this is not a credit card, so no govt tax. i find this better than debit card since i dun need a bank account -- debit card, if limit not set properly, you can still lose a lot of $. with this case, you only lose what you have in the prepaid card.

another option i know is Maybank. they also have this now... but the card got ManU's stars... which i dun like. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(joytest @ Jun 23 2013, 10:36 PM)
SatuGadget in Menara PGRM and DirectD in SS15 are popular.
*
yup, both very famous for giving good phone price. just took my aunt there over the weekend. good time to get s3 too... prices have dropped a lot for s3 which is still very good -- other than only 1GB for RAM. i was kinda surprised DirectD board listed SME set as being cheaper than AP for s3.

and OT a bit... i was at DirectD and saw this sales girl was free so she asked me what i was looking for. she looked chinese, so i replied in Cantonese. then she looked at me with a blur look... the other guy at her side said she dun understand chinese/ cantonese.

i'm a banana and many times people jokingly laugh at me and ask "why i'm chinese but can't read/ write in chinese". i was so tempted to say this to that girl but dunno la... these days, hard to tell a person's ethnic background. world is now so... connected. biggrin.gif

I feel so weird walking with note 2 in my pocket. I wear jeans and tight slack most of the time, so whenever I want to bend and tie up my shoes, need to take out the phone first.

This happen when I want to drive also. I like to set my phone to vibrate mode, when I drive, I put my phone at the next seat, and I would start to worry if there are any messages or calls since I can't feel the vibration. Keep looking at the phone while driving. But then maybe after some time, I'll get used to it.

Since you are in MY, crime IS a problem.... many reports of smashed passenger windows to grab women's handbags on the passenger seat. I would suggest you use one of those dashboard mounts where you can clip the phone on like a GPS unit.

For VPN, if you dont mind to pay some penny tongue.gif, ya may consider FinchVPN. There's a paid and free version, the diff for this two is,

Free = Only able to connect to free server, 3GB data quota with a 60mins time frame, Aka you will got disconnected every 60mins.

Paid = Have a list of premium server to select, and there's no time limit and unlimited data.

On a site notes, premium version only charge RM10 / month. laugh.gif Been with this service for 2 month, so far is good for me. icon_rolleyes.gif

Think back, when working outside from office, we are connected to VPN, I always connect to SG server as it is the nearest to KL.

Since company has setup different VPN's locations for us, probably I could try connecting to company's VPN and use it to login to FB before I pay for other private VPN service.

If it's not a primary usage, then can still stick to their free service. Just a bit hassle which every 60mins need to reconnect for once but I don't think that gonna be a problem. laugh.gif
