Nokia has just announced the Lumia 920, its first and flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone. The Lumia 920 comes with a PureView camera, a 4.5-inch display called Nokia PureMotion HD+. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. As leaked earlier, the Lumia 920 also supports wireless charging.

Nokia is talking about low-light photography with the new PureView camera and promises no blur in photographs shot in low-light without flash by capturing five to ten times more camera by using a floating lens technology. The floating lens also helps while shooting video by stabilizing motion blur while shooting videos.

The Lumia 920 will obviously come with Nokia Maps, Drive and Transport. Nokia is also talking about City Lens, an augmented reality app. The augmented reality aspect will also work on Nokia Maps.

The PureMotion HD+ display promises blur free scrolling with higher refresh rates. The 4.5-inch curved glass display is also being touted as the best display with an advanced Clear Black display.

The Lumia 920 comes with a 2,000 mAh battery, which is the biggest battery Nokia has ever used on a smartphone. It comes with a “Fatboy Pillow” wireless charger, which is based on the Qi industrial standard.

Note:
Since it is a proxy, there is the chance that some sensitive data may be transmitting across the wire to the proxy (I'm assuming it's a Fiddler proxy due to the default 8888 port number). I would turn off all e-mail from syncing while running this..

Aces of the Luftwaffe
Sudoku (other developer)

Aces of the Luftwaffe already unlock third chapter but didn't play it, as i grinding credit to boost up my plane (already max firepower), and grind credit for second plane in future.

I have the tendency to install more utility apps and mostly, Camera lenses. My phone has 14 camera 'lenses', including twitter. Even if 'a bit' useful i will buy. If i rarely use also nevermind, because in the future when i get a Lumia EOS (i will wait for EOS II) these lenses are going to make the cam even more badass.

Hey guys,

I was wondering ig its okay to go jogging with Lumia 920, since we have floating lens and whatnot inside the camera.

I don't mind the weight, just concern about stability of the hardware placement as it will be shaky during the jogging time.

no problem. OIS spring can handle shaking and movements, thats what it is designed for.

Probably he isnt a gamer; My laptops in the past fail after multiple BSODs because of hardware damage - either harddisk or motherboard, from heat damage. But. it's also possible to get BSOD from software issues. My laptops tend to run 24/7 without shutdown but it never heats up - only during extensive gaming sessions.

^ Asus laptops are the best to me so far; Dell failed on me, Acer failed on me (all of them within 2 years), Compaq is complete garbage. But since buying Asus (there are a total of 4 of them among us in my family) none has failed so far except the oldest - lasted 5.5 years. The second oldest is 3 years old.

As for Lenovo... erm, no matter how good or bad i wont buy China brand product.

^ I was speaking from personal experience. And nowadays, i'd also prefer aluminium built laptops.

On my sentiments againt China brands, it stays the same even for smartphones and other stuff. Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo, Oppo, Meizu, etc. They make great products according to feedback but they wont get a cent from me. If i get one for free for any reason, yup, i will sell it.

The desktop market is shrinking worldwide in favor of ultrabooks and portable devices, while i seeing everywhere ppl telling me they prefer desktops. blink.gif I have 2 working laptops and a third one with has issues (and i refuse to repair - it's motherboard related, Dell XPS). I use all of them. Was thinking of a 4th one, would like one with touch and windows 8, or i should just wait a bit longer and get a tablet.

Would love a Nokia tab but it'll be expensive.

It depends on usage and how hardcore is that person too laugh.gif like me, if my laptop stays overnight = multiple gaming tab + dling etc ... with budget of 2k, i could get a decent desktop.. for normal usage like just (only)DotA for example or light usage, laptop are still better than desktop in terms of compactability.. laugh.gif

I have no clue on how to custom build a desktop, would prefer to cut down the headache and trouble and let money do the talking. I'd pay 3k for a decent gaming desktop CPU even though it is cheaper to build by yourself at the same specs. Seeing my sister using Windows 8 on her Asus Vivo i also feel like getting one - if it;s windows 8 i need touch, but have been waiting for Nokia to make a tab. But for the sake of portability I'd like a 8 inch one, something like Acer W3. The best toy for Starbucks use.

^ The rumors that a leaked photo in the past is the real deal. A 10 inch full windows 8 tablet. The leak was pulled off by Nokia but it;s a bit too late because everywhere is reporting on it. Probably it will be announced this year end and Nokia World.

She got Asus Vivo for only RM 2100 (no graphic card, only intel graphics) plus free gifts: a USB mouse and a cooling pad. Gawd, and it's heck a lot faster than my windows 7 laptop with the same spec (i5, 4Gb DDR3, 14' screen @1080p), but maybe the i5 is of a newer generation. My Asus U46SV in return has only 768p screen but with Nvidia inside though.

That Nokia tab in my link above looks like a monitor to me though. sweat.gif

Come on, The latest HTC Butterfly S also 10.6mm thick (To 10.9 for lumia 920) already but i didnt see anyone complain. At least it has huge battery though, 3200mAH + SD card slot. Im very surprised, HTC. Very surprised. But it's stupid to release a successor only after 6-7 months the first Butterfly came out.

I've tried it before... the game feels kinda sluggish.. the character feels like he is running on a wet floor... I just bought another game, "Where's My Mickey?" It has the same release date as iOS and Android! Seems like Windows Phone is getting noticed!

its official.my lumia 2 month 920 yellow just went to nokia care icu after 3 days unable to open contact detail,mail,msg,setting..even after hard reset. my ultimate youtube apps gone ady..

do i did a right choice to buy lumia 920? kind a bit menyesal now. haih..

Just wanna confirm... is it possible for lumia 920, or other words, WP8, to use chinese handwriting as word input?
If can, can anyone provide me full guide how to do it... Cause this morning I went to mobile shop but I struggling for 5 minutes don't know how to do it >.<

Anyway, if you are one of the lumia 920 user, do you think WP8 user-friendly for "granny" users? Cause planning to buy a phone for my mum, but still undecided between WP and Android. Hope anyone can give me a true unbiased opinion about this.. Thanks you very much smile.gif

Windows phone is definitely easier to learn than android to me.
After not using android for quite some time i also got lost while using android 4.2.2.

No handwriting as a native input option.

It is grandny friendly in terms of usability.
1 simplistic UI
2 you can leave just couple of huge tiles in the start screen. Which you cant do the same with icon based UI.

But this assume your granny is a phone number type. I have really bad experience for older people to figure out how to work out the people hubs as oppose to a more mainstream phone book setup.

there is mandarin handwriting native input(just go to setting > keyboard > add) ..i am not sure about english.. will check later

u no need to change to mandarin system language (in order to type mandarin pinyin or handwriting)

just go to keyboard and add smile.gif it provided most of the standard keyboard

The last time i used an Android phone was 4.0 ICS. Now i have a Jellybean tab with 4.1.1.
Now i use newer android i also get confused a bit, after not using for long time; stock android is still okay but if customized one i really head spin rclxub.gif

For windows phone, i just watched a single demo video on engadget, and i managed to learn up to 90% on how to use a WP8 phone already. And i dont end up trying to look for a feature that doesnt exist (like file manager) because i already know what to expect. Transitioning from android and symbian to windows phone, features might have reduced a bit, but i adapted and now my methods of using a smartphone, file transferring, etc, has changed. Just like how people complain windows 8 has no start button, i adapted to it pretty quick and i dont feel like i ever need the start button again.

Some people are simply slower in adaptation to change, while other stubborn ones refuse to adapt to changes and learn, and put the blame on others like Microsoft.

By the way, that kind of typing method (writing chinese words) is damn slow... i can type twice faster with other methods.

Im using Battery by enless, also got sound when fully charged and when battery is draining at a faster rate than usual. But i tend to leave my phone on the wireless charging stand when not using, even the battery is full.

me charge straight start b4 sleep until wake up.. if u want to test try touch ur wall socket head (or watever name it is) in the middle of charging HP .. it will feel warm if not hot... after wake up still not plug off the charger , touch the socket head din feel any warm at all...

Damn headache, i recommended a few friends who prefer budget devices to switch to Lumia after their android lagged like crazy. After they all buy a Lumia all come and bug me ask me teach them how to use.

Dunno how to import contacts lah, dunno how to set ringtones lah, how i can use my photos as a live tile lah... =.=;
All of them so lazy to search for guides online (which i think is the better method than asking someone in FB chat).

I dun think there are many owners of flagship devices who are not happy with their devices; flagship devices perform like they should with good features. The unhappy ones usually are victims of China QC.

I know more of unhappy lower end phone users because of problems you dont experience in higher end phones, especially lags, followed by the lack of SW updates.

white lumia 920 user here, phone is good but the apps support really dissapointing, whatsapp incoming message keep delayed, sometimes still need to enter the apps to see new message, it is not like a smartphone at all. some important message coming in i also missed for many times. so frust on this issue.
camera is good but the light exposure is over;
photos taken at 7pm but looks like 7am.

otherwise i like this phone alot. some ppl told me to check internet connection and some even ask me to turn on notification setting/turn off battery saver etc. all i tried but same.

agreed. nokia is a handphone, smartphones are android only. tongue.gif

have you updated to latest firmware? other users dont have whatsapp delay issue, especially those on latest fw. also, install ProShot. then can throw other phones camera into longkang.

Lama tak masuk LYN ... been blardy busy ..... nice to see this thread is growing. As for battery drain, I just accepted the fact that I will need to charge it as often as I can. Cannot last more than 1 day. What i do notice though (I suspect it's the network and not the phone) that before, if I have G as the signal, there is practically no internet (even for Whatsapp etc), now it has moved up to E (no internet when it's on E), it will only have internet if I have it as H or H+

P/S: Wahhh kuroneko0509, you naik pangkat as a Mod ehh ....

wow, is the lumia 920 owner list got lost and need to be rewritten or are these newcomers are NEW owners of lumia 920? i havent seen anyone else using a windows phone outside of my office yet! (which we currently have 6/160 staffs with windows phone.. hehe)

Yellow Lumia 920 user since january.

My prb with wp8 is when battery start draining, i start stabbing the back button non-stop until everything but the home screen is left, and still battery app says 19% battery/hour. Then phone heats up... Battery flat within shorter period than predicted.

Other than that, i remind myself its windows. The occasional restart happens even for pc so why not the phone right? When it functions normally, this is like the only phone around with hardly any lag. Browsing load time is faster though using same wifi connection. I dont regret my choice. Gonna use it till the end of its life. Though sort of tempted by jolla. Haha.

go to settings>swipe to the left> turn off background tasks that you dont need..there are some apps like weave will keep on using your internet data.. If you wanna save battery, just turn off wifi whenever you dont need it.. 😃

yep...normally when i done playing heavy games/watching video or do multi tasking...

i will reboot the phone just to make sure no procces/ram memory being run in the background.....

window live movie maker is definitely one of the noob friendly for simple editting... also have tons of effect to add in... and its free too... no reason to not try it....

I ok with everything la...WP8 still good to me. The most annoying part to me is the "can't connect to chat" issue with the fb integration.

Maybe my opinion on WP will drop once I use ios or android XD

That Nokia event i think, only reveal Lumia Eos... but i heard a 2nd midrange device in the rumor mill. Lumia 625. Same spec as 620, but 4.7' screen.

played with it for a few min just now... its not bad... if i would suggest, i say differentiate national holiday and state holiday into different colours.... also our phone already have calendar with mlaysia holiday so integrate it into our calendar again seems redundant... any plan for live tiles? maybe something that tell next holiday first row+next next holiday on second row? overall its smooth and pretty good...

btw to make wp8 app will need window 8 right?

why want to turn off the alp ?? its easy to search for apps with alp. unlike android, if you have more than 40apps you have to swipe swipe and swipe and look for your apps and too messy!!

Seems like i cant find any defect in the new one other than a little bit creaking sound when i press the side of my phone..

Heard WP 8.1 u can arrange apps based on most used one instead of alphabetical. Im used to hitting the alphabet button then jump to the alphabet though.

Skype, is it stable? Viber is like shit, really. Call never receive notification, until it was 28 minutes after that. And the dev don't seems to show any effort to fix it.

Skype is stable to me so far. I don't use it very often but the few times I needed to use it, wait for calls from overseas, it worked fine without hitch or delay. No I wasn't in the Skpe app waiting for call either, phone was either in standby mode or I was reading something. So give it a try.

Skype, is it stable? Viber is like shit, really. Call never receive notification, until it was 28 minutes after that. And the dev don't seems to show any effort to fix it.

It depends on app. There are some apps that have practically zero delay in notifications I noticed on my phone. Sadly this is only a few like official Twitter, Skype & WeChat. Whatsapp is one of the worst, can get looping, badly delayed or no notifications. The rest like Viber are hit & miss also.

Yes there's not enough slots in the lockscreen to show notifications, so I rely on their live tiles for that. Anything important like chat apps are all on top so that easy to see if have number on their live tile.

Summary (TLDR) : Communication apps for WP suck sad.gif

I am thinking to buy cheap iPod for communicating. The only thing that hold me from leaving Lumia 920 is their camera (and Metro smoothness, that unbeatable).

The Star paper's InTech posted a review on the Lumia 920 on 19th June 2013, over 6 months after it is available for sale in M'sia (23rd December 2012), and still tags it as RM 1999 when it's only RM 15XX now.
And yet they reviewed some chinese crap called Huawei Ascend Mate which is a newer phone earlier than the 920. Incompetency at its best.

It's actually wrong to say Asha 501 is S40. It's actually not. It's based on another platform that they acquired from the company Smarterphone. Yes it can run Java apps, just like Symbian also can run Java apps. Also, this new platform borrows more from MeeGo than from Symbian/Belle actually.

How hot is ur wall charger head during charging?
mine quite hot, even hotter when charging my powerbank..
the given powerbank charger rated at 2a, doesnt get hot while charging, but slower than ori nokia..
tried using it to charge my phone as well, but sometimes the sounds when plug in charger comes late..

so maybe got something not right, so i stop using it and use ori nokia charger for both powerbank and phone..

RRP will only drop probably when Lumia 925 arrives. Again, the arrival is too slow, by then Lumia EOS is already announced or available in other countries. Malaysia gets Nokia phones too slow.

Actually that shop sell around RM150 IIRC, but i bargain price with him when i buy lumia 920 + wireless charger from him, i say the nokia shop (which just nearby his shop only) now got promotion free wireless charger. So he give further discount to me.

If battery goes out completely u have to charge a while before can switch on.
Sometimes u need to hold the power button 5 to 8 secs to start up a phone. Some of my old symbian phones also like that.

whatsapp , wechat , viber , youtube, all i didnt use lol. Whatsapp i did install but never used. Heard whatsapp has lots of issues though. I didnt use so i dunno much. I dun like chatting on a phone, FB chat on a computer is the best.

an androidfag friend of mine keep poisoning me to abandon wp8, go android. a few days ago, he got excited to install windows 8 on his pc and abandon windows 7.

he poison2 me to join him, he said, "oi, till when laa want to be on windows 7 only. be advance, windows 8 laa..."

What i dont do on a smartphone

I may have only 1060 frens in FB but most of them very free one, keep looking for me to chat, so i shut them off by going offline while on mobile.

Youtube? I boycotted it for almost 2 years already. Unless my friend wants to show me something, i never open the site voluntarily.

Clock goes to year 2012, and your photo ends up on top, and i cant find the photos. Happened to me 3 times. 3 times. Even though i have learnt the lesson earlier, because i didnt think much. Time was the same but date changed after a soft reset. doh.gif

Battery is the same,in fact, 2000mAh (compared to those N series symbian phones that use 1100-1200mAh batteries). It's the network when u switch on data. Might be partially the fault of Windows Phone OS itself, but it's actually how the apps are written (keeps updating itself, that's what live tiles are for) being the main reason.

Snapdragon is already power efficient as a processor; i believe it could be a lot worse, if it was a Tegra3. It all depends on the efficiency of the OS itself now.

guys,

recommend me screen protector that fits well? those nillkin ones 2 already i installed, got peeled at the sides, very annoying.

You can never cover a Lumia 920's screen fully esp at the edges where the glass curves.

not bad, but i removed the back one while waiting for a new unit, due to the ugly SIRIM sticker stick at the back+ the edge pealed off due to my poor skill on applying it back then sad.gif
the front one, covered until the edge of the screen rclxms.gif
but you need to use soap water while applying it, took me half hour just to get the back aligned, another half hour for the front mad.gif
by far the best 920 screen protector i had used on 920

the one i'm using now, i bought through USA shopper (ebay as well) from service board there, costs me about RM3x inclusive local postage, have to wait for 1 month++

f/1.9 cannot expect much and also the aggressive jpeg compression + de-noise, usually it will end up smudgy/plasticky images. doh.gif

Hi guys,

Need some advice. Am very close to getting a red lumia 920. The best deal (which i have encountered thus far) is RM 1683 in Queensbay Mall. Zitron set. One year warranty. They throwing in a wireless charger as well as screen protector and some casing.

In Penang is this a good deal, other shops all also quote me more or less the same.

Also the Lumia offered by DIGI does it come with a wireless charger?

p.s. if these questions have been answered before i apologize for repeating them but im really aching to own the Lumia ASAP
