If really need it urgently i suggest buy y410p instead. I'm using one. The only pain in the azz was the screen size was quite small, but you'll get use to it soon.
About cooling, it's quite decent.
I use a notepal E1, after playing Ghost Recon Future Soldier for hours, the left part of your lappy only get warm, not hot actually, after you put it in idle state for a few moments, the temperature will go down quite fast~

haha the only game i will play with my laptop..gonna be dota 2 or cs go.
i think 750M got enough juice for them.....
but if got 755m y410p then i sure very like it....i dont mind the resolution, but if the price between 410P and 510P only RM200 i sure get RM200 for the FHD haha.
do you feel your laptop heavy and hard to carry around?

Hi guys, just wanted to ask. Any of you monitoring the cpu clock speed for the Y500 GT 750M revision? According to the notebookcheck the Y510P turns off intel's turbo boost when more than 1 core is used meaning it will stay at the default clock speed of 2.4 ghz =.= This wasn't a problem in the Y500 GT 650M revision. The clock speed turbo boost to 3.0 ghz when 4 cores were used. I am not sure if the 750M has the same problem as the Y510p revision. Anyone can verify and/ or suggest a good software to do so?

You need throttle stop to force boost by disable pdprochot. But doing this is not encouraged due to bad thermal transfer for this model. That why it will clock down when your processor reach 90 celcius.

Do you have HWInfo64 installed?. Mine shows 'Intel Turbo Boost : Supported, Disabled'.

You don't need turbo boost once you have throttle stop. It will force multiplier by enable force multiplier set turbo then you have 24/7 turbo. Then you need to set enable force boost each reboot.

Why you need turbo boost? Unless you play very intensive games for me 2.4GHz is enough.

Since turbo will cause throttle anyway. I don't think you like overheat laptop during gaming section.

the throttling happens only when the CPU heats up, right?

so, if I manage to cool it down (like using it in an air-conditioned room) properly, the throttling will not happen, am I right?

Can't tell you whether it's heavy or not~ As I only put it on my table currently, Uni start at september mah~
As for the GPU, GT 750M already way overkill for Dota 2, so GT755M will be even better rclxms.gif

Throttling happens to keep temps down, so you would be correct to assume so.

By default yes it has turbo boost, but remind that Lenovo have set thermal throttle when temperature reach 90 Celsius, it will drop to 2.4 Ghz stable till your processor is back to idle state.

(Proven through Prime 95 for 24+ hours after pasting with IC 7 and replace pads with fujipoly's then have to send SC due to my faulty keyboard I have :/)

As I remember, after Prime 95 for 25 minutes it will start throttle then remain stable 2.4 Ghz (all cores) till I stop my prime 95. However, you can alternatively use throttle stop as I mention in previous post.

User must aware that, it is not recommend as it can't handle turbo temperatures, as I recall the stock thermal paste + pad it reach 104 Celsius easily during this stress test for like 15 minutes.

Now I have to cross fingers that, they will not mess up my application and replace my thermal pads (Since I only ask them to change keyboard) then I will run Prime 95 again checking for improve temperatures base on 2.4 Ghz after few days (Since I don't use turbo boost on this laptop and assume I get it back on Monday)

The Temperatures I get during Prime 95 under 2.4 Ghz load (I'm using Core Temp and HW monitor to monitor my temperature) (After application)

75
77
79
76

and I admit that... repasting thermal paste and replace pads on Y500 requires patience as it is hard to disassemble.

I monitored the cpu performance and temp using a svp (a software that utilizes all cores). I noticed that immediately after switching on the svp the clock speed drops to 2.4ghz. The temperature rose to 70+/-1 celsius and idles that temperature. When using other software such as browsing the internet with chrome, the clock speed can go above 3.0ghz. But I am not sure which software uses only 1, 2 or 3 cores only that svp uses all 4.

Mine using chrome on High performance profile still below 2.4ghz, it just stuck at most 2.35ghz sad.gif
