To remove wallpaper on 6 walls, 2 main contractor quoted RM 3,000 & RM 1,000 respectively. When asked, the main contractor say they are going to spray water on the wall to "wash".
So i decided to look for DIY option on net. Most suggest to buy special wallpaper scoring tool, cloth softener, vinegar and etc.
Since most local hardware shop does not carry the wallpaper scoring tool, i decided to DIY using roller brush + plain water.
Step 1. Remove the plastic outer layer of wallpaper. (mine is PVC wallpaper laminate with paper)
Step 2. Once the plastic printed layer is removed leaving the brown colour paper, apply plain water using roller brush.
Step 3. After 5 minutes, use your hand to tear off the paper carefully. Do you best to get a clean peel.
Note:
1) Since the plastic layer is not porous, you need to remove it first before applying water to wet the inner paper layer.
2) My wallpaper is 1 Foot width (approx 300mm).
3) Normally in 1 cycle, i will peel off plastic layer x 5, then proceed to apply water x 5, last step peel the paper x 5
4) In aggregate, i spend 5 minutes on each wallpaper.
5) Within 2 hours, manage to remove 28 pcs of wallpaper (size 1Ft x 8 Ft)
6) This is done with seorang buruh kasar, if you start with 2 or more, within 1-2 hours can get the job done with ease.
