Hi All,

I have been using TM UNIFI for almost half year now.
No hassle with connection so far.
But the stock wireless router given to me so far
was a bit disappointing in its wireless range.

So my goal is... I would like to replace the standard TM wireless router with my own choice.
I have been doing some research on Google and tech blogs, and get as much information
as possible.

Currently I am using the following hardware:

1) Alcatel-Lucent VDSL/BTU/OTU modem(white colour), the modem has network 4 ports.

2) L7NR2000 wireless router, the router has 4 network ports + 1 WAN port.

The VDSL modem network port 1 is connected to the wireless router's WAN port.

What I am trying to ascertain here is to find out the VLAN setting.
(Assuming all TM UNIFI network is using VLAN tagging, VLAN 500- internet traffic, VLAN 600- video traffic,
I just want to double confirm whether I am right here, I want to see for myself)

When I went to the L7NR2000 wireless router web interface.
I could not find the VLAN configuration setting.
I search high and low on the web interface, but just could
not find it.

I believe this is a customized L7 network firmware built for TM as an OEM wireless router.
Not a standard firmware built for Dlink, although it resembles a DIR-614 hardware:A1 wireless router.

Could the VLAN setting actually hidden and NOT available to fiddle
with to prying customer like me sad.gif

Hope someone in forum can give some advice on this technical question.

Thank you.

The VLAN is correct.

What modem you wanna get? Most consumer modem with unifi supported is also not showing the vlan setting (hard code in config/firmware).

Hi,

Thanks for your prompt reply. smile.gif

I am just referring to your statement above (see the quote)

You mean what kind of wireless router that I want to replace?

Or

You mean what kind of VDSL modem that I want to replace?

Apologies for asking this question. I still very new to world of TM Unifi. smile.gif
Are ALL wireless routers given by TM Unifi package, VLAN configuration settings
are hidden (or hard coded ) that cannot be revealed to TM Unifi CPE customer?

Thanks.

You would want to replace ROUTER. The modem is fine on its own.

Hi All,

Just for curiosity sake....

Has anyone try to access the Alcatel-Lucent VDSL modem (1-240G-P) via networking?
What is the IP address on the modem?
What is the username and password on the modem?

Thanks man, I have seen this website!
I must salute notworthy.gif klseet notworthy.gif , for take the trouble of posting
all the findings on alternative 3rd party hardware + 3rd party firmware to people
like me, who want to replace the stock TM wireless router.

Alas, my stock wireless router = L7NR2000 is using a REALTEK chipset.
Which 3rd party firmware like DD-WRT nor OpenWRT does not support this kind of
chipsets (Marvell or Ubicom).

Therefore, I need to replace it completely with a new wireless router. rolleyes.gif
I am still considering what kind of hardware should I use.

I might use something like a free linux firewall to make the replacement
since I do have a couple of SPARE old Pentium 2 or Pentium 3 PCs lying
on the floor doing absolutely nothing except collecting dust over the years.

It's suppose to be wireless router.. VDSL modem/Fiber modem is belongs to TM and got lifetime warranty.

Dlink router config can be seen by login with operator user.

Pentium 2/3 with take to much power to be used as linux router.

Ok, you were referring to wireless router, that confirmed my original thinking.

Dlink router config can be seen by login with operator user.
Sorry, I am not sure what this means? Care to elaborate more? What do you mean...login with operator user?

Pentium 2/3 with take to much power to be used as linux router.
Very true, Pentium 2/3 might consume much more power than....say comparing to an Atom
motherboard, and bigger foot print. But for a SOHO network with only a few users, P2/3 PC is more than sufficient
to serve and handle the workload.

Hell what the heck! I think it is still better of chucking it away and eventually end up in recycle
warehouse or scrap yard /land fill.

I believe L7NR2000 is based on D-Link 615 or 825, not 614. Look at the emulator below. The menu is almost similar except RM has removed “D-Link 615” logo from the webui.

After all, I can’t find any reference on DIR-614 in D-Link website. Please let me know if you know any.
