Hi,
Does anyone knows how's the Typhoon Man-Yi's damage in Japan? I saw some photos in Kyoto, looks quite bad and I'll be going in another 3 weeks.

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Sep 17 2013, 09:50 PM) Now is house keeping time Do you think the housekeeping is going to take long time? Now headache whether to skip Kyoto or not. But, not going to Kyoto will feel like I've never been to Japan before. Wind is over but damage are big. But Japanese already used to this kind typhoon QUOTE(lucaswjk @ Sep 17 2013, 09:55 PM) wow... our time seem match... I haven't been able to find much info on the damage in Tokyo yet, I thought the worst damage was in Kyoto?now scratching my head... donno wan to go hokkaido first or okinawa... and mayb going to skip tokyo Seemed like you're travelling east of Japan. Are you planing to go Kyoto? I'm having big headache cause I was planning to spend most of the time in Kyoto and the Kyoto accommodations that I booked earlier are now seeking my final confirmation on my stay. |

Here's my very rough itinerary. Booked my flights in last minute so the itinerary is still.... I have so many questions.
From KL - Narita arrival in the morning and leave luggage at hotel, then sightseeing around Tokyo. Tokyo - Nikko day trip from Tokyo Tokyo Tokyo Tokyo Tokyo - Hiroshima - Miyajima (stay 1 night) Miyajima - Kyoto Kyoto - Nara day trip Kyoto - Hikone day trip Kyoto Kyoto Kyoto Osaka - departure back to KL via Kansai Airport Tokyo to HIroshima is like 5 hours via trains, should I stop at Kyoto for one night first? I wish to arrive at Hiroshima in at least afternoon so I will have time to enjoy both Hiroshima and Miyajima. Or should I stay 2 nights at Hiroshima/Miyajima? As for JR Pass, do you buy via JR Rail website or other website? According to Hyperdia, my journeys will use around 45000 to 46000 Yen if I buy tickets only, is it worth it to buy JR Pass? What is the last date for me to buy JR Pass before departure? I'm departing in first week of Oct so is there still enough time for me to buy JR Pass? Even though I buy JR Pass should I prebook the trains between the cities above? Will they be fully book? |

Deodorant, initially i planned osaka as part of my itinerary, but after searching online many comment that it s just like smaller version of tokyo. A friend who is studying in japan said it s not worth it.
Listiani, i meant hikone at shiga prefecture. Thanks for telling me about JTB. That s just what i want, cause was scratching my head on how to get my hands on the exchange voucher after i buy online. Most website did not mention whether the exchange voucher will be in softcpy via email or hardcopy to be sent via normal mail, which i do not have time to wait. From tokyo to hiroshima requires changing at shin osaka. My reason to stay overnight kyoto was to leave luggage at kyoto so we wont have to drag luggage around, but i m still thinking. I saw online ther are some ryokans in miyajima? A traveller post mention about the view on the island once all the day travellers went back to mainland is fascinating. |

Hi, i was reading about suica & nex combo and have some question. I want to go to bakurocho station from narita airport so i am thinking to buy one way comb - use the nex ticket to board narita express to tokyo station, the board jr yamanote line to bakurocho station. My understanding is we will use nex ticket first, and it can valid all the way till our final destination, include subway & jr line to stations in Greater Tokyo, provided we dont get through any gates. Is this right? So no need to use suica all the way to bakurocho? One more question is, i saw the map on where is considered as greater tokyo. I saw the map on their site, but didn't seemed to bea complete map, cause not all stations were labelled. Is bakurocho station include in the greater tokyo/jr east station category?

Thanks Regentcid. I will lookup other company website. For number 2, basically, there s no line that i can pass at tokyo station without going through gate? Bakurocho is served by 3 lines asakusa line, yamanote and shinjuku line.

I ask the question somewhere using bakuroyokoyama, but was corrected by other travellers saying i meant bakurocho. By the subway maps it seemed like these 2 are linked.
