Bro, I've already booked Airasia to Haneda Airport from Feb 12th to 22nd of 2014, total duration is 10 days. This is my first trip to Tokyo and decided to do self exploration of the city without tagging tour group. Will the weather be freezing cold during that period? I did a brief check it range from 10 degree in the day to 3 degree at night.

Airasia Tix for 2 pax cost me RM 2822.00, is this a good price?

I also listed down some hotels but not sure which is the best, I want a hotel that is close to train station and hopefully within walking distance to eateries and pubs, my main objective is plenty of seafood/sashimi, popular destination tour and some shopping.

Will it be good if I stay very near Tsukiji Fish Market? Below is my list of hotels;

1) Grand Pacific Le Daiba - Haneda Airport 8.3 KM
2) Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nihombashi - Haneda Airport 14.9 KM
3) Dai-Ichi Hotel Annex - Haneda Airport 13.3 KM
4) Shibuya Granbell Hotel - Haneda Airport 13.2 KM
5) The Gate Hotel Asakusa Kaminarimon - Haneda Airport 18 KM
6) Sotetsu Freasa Inn Tokyo Kyobashi - Haneda Airport 14 KM

Is spending 10 days too much in Tokyo? Should I use it as a base and take few days else where? rolleyes.gif

For flight ticket for me is expensive since your are taking air asia. Mine only RM1640 for 2 pax. Of course I booked very early.

I also did 10 days in Tokyo. You can include Nikko, Hakone, or also Yokohama.
*
Will make time for Yokohama. You got yourself a really good deal, from Airasia as well? I bought mine only today.

Just installed a free app from App Store.

TOKYO RAIL MAP + LITE
http://appshopper.com/travel/tokyo-rail-map-lite-2

Those bringing along your ipad can have it install, try play around with some of the function.

What time Izakaya normally close? Was it a nice place to hang out in terms of beers and authentic local snacks? Are they common in Shibuya and Shinjuku?

Appreciate the enlightenment of our fella bros. Thanks in advance.

Yalor..i am trying my best to avoid Narita..at least i have been to Haneda before so I know the navigation and nearer.

Its a dilemma when taking Air Asia to Haneda due to touch down time is close to mid nite. If any delay means either sleep over at airport or take a expensive taxi ride to hotel. Not forgetting you already paid the room for the day itself. rolleyes.gif

I had this same concern last time so I booked a room at First Cabin as I didn't wanna take chance. Luckily this time I am entering through KIX and I selected the midnight flight so that touch down in the morning. Save one night hotel cost  biggrin.gif

Good planning for your second trip. Will also do the same after my maiden trip this February, hopefully never repeat the same silly mistake. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Setting shinjuku as base (hotel) played a large part. I will only return to Shinjuku late at night and feeling dead tired. I can't even find a time to go to the Tokyo Metropolitan observatory even though it is just within walking distance  doh.gif
*
Haha.....you had a fruitful trip packed with fun and excitement. I'm more of a food person so may not venture out of Tokyo that much, might do a day trip to Yokohama.

Already confirmed my stay with Best Western Shinjuku for 10 nights in mid of February, gonna use that as a base. Itinerary wise will be the usual tourist attraction and maybe two days trip to Yokohama and Hakone.

As this is a trip for relaxing therefore won't be packing tight schedule, free and easy tour around Tokyo for food and maybe some shopping. Hopefully won't be expecting a lot of rain during this period.

Anyone here heading Tokyo in February? I'm departing from 12th to 22nd.
