Hi !
Thank u for the kind suggestion. 3D2N can cover Kawaguchiko also? Won't be too rush and tiring right?
Looks like Kawaguchiko can get very nice view of Mt. Fuji.

Pretty sure you can cover the lake at kawaguchi. I recently spent 2 nights in Hakone mainly for the onsen (hotsprings) and would say that if you really plan your trip you could spend 1 full day for the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, 1 day at Mt.Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. Maximise your free pass by getting off Gotemba Premium outlet, then take the feeder bus to Gotemba Bus station where you will find other buses to Kawaguchi.

Plan carefully, the trip from Hakone to Kawaguchi is roughly 2 hours by bus!

I also kena poison by Japan already. I'm already planning my next trip to Hokkaido eventhough I just came back from Tokyo recently. Maybe my stay will be longer (1 month) next time so need to do thorough planning!

Japanese is really much more easier to pick up while you're there!

Along the 2 hours journey, half way u can opt for Gotemba Premium Outlet before heading to Lake kawaguchiko. icon_rolleyes.gif

Sorry to pour cold water, but are you sure it is absolutely safe to (ever) go to Japan?
Radioactivity.
If one can recall what we have learnt in Physics, some readioactive substances will take many years, some decades, to reach their half life. Even at their half lives, they still emit radioactive substances. And the Fukushima incident happened only a few years ago.
Many would say that Tokyo is far from Fukushima/Sendai area, but one should know how radioactive substances spread. E=mc2.
Some foodstuffs may already been contaminated, and probably unknown to be so.

Having said all that, 'exposure' to such situations may probably be all right if one are only exposed for a day or two.

If one really wants to visit Japan, perhaps going south to Fukuoka or Hiroshima, or thereabout may be safer. Of course, these cities are not as cosmopolitan and fashionable as Tokyo.

Come on, there is a reason for visa waiver.

Hi, where do you stay in Hakone ? At 1st thinking to 1 day trip to visit Hakone from shinjuku however the next day will travel to Mt.Fuji..so I decided to stay 3D2N at Hakone...
Been searching the hotels and the price kinda "takai" (expensive)..Any recommended hotel comes with hot spring (onsen) facilities, breakfast doesn't matter...my budget around RM300+/- per night~ smile.gif

Rm300 per night? Yes, maybe when the Yen drops down further!

To put it bluntly, if you wanna stay in Hakone with onsen, you really need to increase your budget. RM550-RM700 more likely!

Otherwise, the next best bet (if you are on a tight budget) would be to spend the night in Odawara (drop of at Odawara station)

You may notice a short stretch where you can see budget hotels.
Cheapest accomodation here is about RM200/night onwards.

Odawara is about 20 minutes taxi drive; approx. 3000 yen; to Hakone, worth it if in groups of 4.
After you reach Hakone, you'll need to PAY to use the onsen in Hakone (range 200-400 yen/ RM7-14)

With all the inconvenience, I'd rather pay that few extra hundred ringgit for lodging in Hakone itself.
Try not to be penny wise, pound foolish.

I stayed at Hotel Senkei in Hakone.
Price: 16,500 yen
Walking distance to Hakone Yumoto Train station: 20 minutes
Onsen: Indoor and Outdoor! UNFORTUNATELY, no mixed gender onsen at the same time. brows.gif
Service: Excellent

There are a whole bunch of other hotels in this area, hope you'll tell us your experience when you come back. thumbup.gif

Hi guys, I need some advice. I'll be going to Japan for 2 months and I'm wondering about money. As in, am I better carrying cash or is it better for me to use credit cards? Or should I just buy a prepaid card, top it up with money and use it in Japan?

Radioactivity.

Are you basing this fearmongering on some actual data or are you just talking out your ass based on a non existent understanding of physics and radioactivity?

http://www.rsc.org/chemistryworld/2013/03/...r-risk-increase

WHO says that "people living nearest to the nuclear power plant (will have) a slightly elevated risk of cancer in the coming years. However, the disaster will have no ‘observable' impact in the rest of Japan or other parts of the world ... (WHO) also expects no increases in miscarriages, stillbirths or physical and mental disorders in babies born after the accident"

I believe most of us here spend less than a month a year in Japan, and even then mostly in the 'touristy' areas away from fukushima. I see no reason for worry.

Come on lah, stop being a tight arse, you've probably been in Japan so long where things that others enjoy won't please you anymore.
