Yea, I am having a bit of trouble with my Westie.

Today the vet tell me her experience with one of her friends who keep dogs also. The dog (dunno what breed) is very picky until the owner have to feed it chicken rice... Then nevermind. Next in the menu is loh mai kai!!! I pengsan!! Then she said the dog favorite is tai-pau! I'm like WTF?! Dim sum restaurant owner dog meh?

Having a picky dog is memeningkan. Now I have to battle him, starve him and see whether he gets the msg that he isnt going to get anything better, so eat to prevent death.

I only worry he rather die than eat, then my nightmare will begin.

By the way, nairud, mochi, mr. z - what is OT ah? Over Time meh?

only way is to starve him now and wait till he "retreat" . muahah
i dun wan to take the risk to feed wetfood to my dog ..
*
Wet food? WHat is considered wet food leh?

I had to give him many treats or else he throw rampage at the newspaper, biting all over and then I have to pick, sweep, mop and replace and the process repeats!!

Geramnyaaaa. Now starve him until he surrender but hopefully he dont choose rather-die path la, else I will sakit hati.

Clarify to me, apa dia wet food?

Hey, most of the people here are guys, see girl pict sure drool like mad, so its quite common to go off-topic, even for a Moderator!! Hahaha... But you sure you are married ah? Look so young oni...

Wetfood is those canned or packeted.... like Ceasar, Pedigree can.... anything that is wet, looks like luncheon meat/spam and stuff that comes out of a can or packet is considered wet food.
*
Oic, now I know. Thanks for the explaination Hun.

QUOTE(^MochI^ @ Jun 23 2007, 03:03 AM)
Crazy hun already explained wads wet food.
giv him healthy treats like holistic dog biscuits lo.. or fruits..
if he wan to chew buy nylon bones.. hun teach wan.

how the hell im not sure i myself is married or not.. duhz.. shakehead.gif
and yes im young. keke.  laugh.gif
*
Hahaha... I didnt feed my Westie with a lot of wet food la. So far we only tried Caesar but that's also like once every fortnight for taste. Most small dogs are very picky ones.

Hollistic dog biscuit? I think I better go with fruits la, cheaper. But then most fruits are acidic and it could be harmful to them if given too much. I will just try the nylon bone thing and then sure he will bite until koyak rabak. Is it dangerous if he telan the nylons?

Your sentence how the hell im not sure i myself is married or not.. duhz.. shakehead.gif means what ah? You are married or you are not married? Confusing betul...

How do you shower your dog's face? My groomer tells me its ok to shower the face because often when dogs go swimming, they will just jump into the water with everything wet. On the contrary, I am worried Casper's ears get infection.

So, how exactly do you guys do it? I just hold his fur around the jaw tight tight, put in cotton balls to the ears, cover one, spray one side. Then I let go of that ear and cover the other ear, spray the other side but really I dont have that many hands to scrub or anything and his fur around his face is turning yellow.

So how exactly should we do it? Any guidelines, advice on the proper way?

You can wash the face but as for showering, you would need to lower your dog's head so the water doesn't get into the nose. Dogs hate it when water gets into their nose. Firstly, washing the face is easy if you use baby tearless shampoo. It is safer, tearless means it won't irritate the eyes. Just use your fingers to scrub. Don't worry about shampoo getting into the eyes, baby shampoo is very safe since it won't cause harm to babies. For me, I'll hold my dog's muzzle and lower her head in an angle so that when I shower, the water drips downwards and won't enter her nose. Another way is getting a bucket of water and a small cup to pour the water slowly at the areas you wanna wash out the shampoo. Some people would use wet cloths but it won't 100% get rid of all shampoo residue.

If you want to whiten the face, you can get hold of BioGroom's whitening shampoo, it is tearless. Not all of BioGroom's shampoo are tearless.... so far only a few and one of them is the whitening one.
*
I am using All Systems and I think I will be using this for a long time. Seapark Pet Supplies aunty tells me that this shampoo got no chemicals so its safe to wash the dog's face with it but then it was not stated on the bottle to be tearless. I am quite doubtful but I make sure it doesnt get into the eyes.

By baby shampoo, do you mean human's? I am worried about the ears only because Casper ears is sharp and pointy so if wash the head (near the brains there) between the ears, the water can go in quite easily if he starts to struggle.

I know dogs hate it when it enters the nose thats why I also try to bend his head lower and wash it but sometimes the water flow down, near the ear, I panic. Then near the nose, he dont like. Sheeessshh!! This is really quite hard.

Oh yea, a side note about scrubbing / rubbing / massaging the dog in the shower. I used to use hands and scratch his back but it was not really effective. Now, I use a rubber brush. Fuiyoh!!! The difference is amazing. He seems to love it, like boss kena massage by the slave, me! Then just sit there with his back facing me while I do my job!

I told my friend the same thing today about the dogs in the opposite bungalow barking at me whenever I park my car opposite side of the road. 3 dogs, really quite fierce but I know is scary cats cause I tried to chase them before.

My friend tell me simple only, just buy a bar of chocolate, break them and throw it in the house. Hahahaha... I wish I could do it but I worry when I die, go to Hell, Hades will ask these dogs to scratch out my livers!!!!!!!!!

Yea he is the taikor now. Just that when comes to wash face, I become the taikor while he becomes crazy running around the toilet. Doing the shake shake thing to splash all the water onto me.

rubber scrub? Wud is that?  Can u kindly post a picture of a rubber scrub? tongue.gif.  I might get one tongue.gif.

Here you go, this is the kind of brush I am using when I bath him. I also feel that this kind of brush is good in the sense it doesnt hurt him, its easy for me to wear because there is a band attached on the brush.

I sort of can scrub off his dead fur, sort of like human la, scrub off the dead cells on your face when you do facial scrubs. Hahahaha... Anyway, that's just a silly thought but I really do find it helpful rather than after shower, he come out all wirey, now he come out straight and hansem.

Oh ya .. Hepy shakes all the time lar when I bath him.  It's as if i'm bathing together with him  doh.gif.  When I splash the water on his body, he already started shaking liao rclxub.gif.  I always come out from the bathroom, getting wet all over  yawn.gif.
*
I doubt you can find it at Watson. Try any pet store, they should have it and its only about RM6.90 or RM5.90 only.

Casper wont shake until I am done with him. So as soon as I pour the last bit of water, I move away to the corner of the bathroom in order not to get wet but sometimes he will run to me and then shake.

Twice a week is too much bathing. Just once a week will do. The best is once in 2 weeks. Bathing twice a week will strip away the natural oils, causing the fur to be dry, have breakage and can actually cause the body odour to be worse. No matter what shampoo you use, do not bath more than once a week.
*
Now this is something new. I bath my dog on Wed and Sat. I will try to reduce it to once a week. THanks for the tip!

I know. i am loving it already. but wanna learn how to cut his hair. must i go to the groomer? i dun have the budget.. and his nails are long too... the owner doesnt take good care..

my previous dog died last april. The doctor ask to settle down with the environment first. do you think the ticks still survive in the wall and jump on this shih tzu?  hmm.gif
*
How to cut his hair? This you will need a lot of patience and hours. Slowly cut bit by bit with combs and scissors lor. You wont be able to cut it nice like the groomers do but it 'kutip' still can la.

His nails are long, you can cut also ma. I am sure you have your own tools to handle the dog since you said you had a dog before right? Just cut a bit before the pinky area, can already lor.

I am sorry to hear your loss. Settle down what environment and what survive the wall? Not too sure but then there is always Frontline and other methods to avoid ticks. My dog is 7 months, no such problems *touchwood*

QUOTE(snowcandy @ Jun 26 2007, 12:23 AM)
Heh. Yeah, will be getting a second dog soon. biggrin.gif

I know that poodles are intelligent breeds and easy to train. So I figured that she'll be a suitable companion for Chansey. Not to mention, I could train the both of them at the same time. Lols. It's like getting Chansey all over again.
*
Ooo... Is Chansey a male or female? Getting a partner for him is it?

Anyway, my friend left for Canada so her mom bought a Poodle. My God, they are freaking amazing!! There is this trick that even Casper cannot do.

My friend's mom would sit on the floor and lift her arms straight up. 90 degree with the body like pointing somewhere vertically. Then tell the Poodle to jump! The Poodle dont even have to run-jump. Just sit there and hop across the arm, I am shocked! Their legs are so strong!!!

I think its about 2ft high depending on your body length and I am truly amazed by that trick. High jump competition!

The doctor said that those ticks, once they suck blood they will crawl out, dig a hole at your house wall and hide inside and when another dog comes it breeds and the small ticks will find its way onto the new host.
*
If not close, dont need to return la. rclxms.gif Hahahaha... I know ticks will come out after sucking the blood but I didnt know about breaking into walls and etc. Just make sure your house is clean lor. Mop often. Do you find holes at your walls?

From the way you put it, shocking.gif ticks seem incurable but that's not the way because my gf's dog also got ticks before but now ok already. Just need to be consistent with the Frontline and keep it clean, watch the tick and kill them. icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi, i need some advice here. I have a 6month old boy which is lack of socialization. He'll bark at every "thing" that pass by my house - people, cats, dogs, bikes... But he's ok with all my other pets & my lil nephew. I want train him to social with others. Anyway i can train him?
*
All you have to do is train him not to bark that often at everything. Just stop him to make sure everything is in controlled.

My house dont have door stopper for him to chew. Today when I was going to work, Casper came to sit next to me. I was wearing my sock that time and then I took up one sock and put across his neck, he ran away with my socks into his cage.

Dont even know why he so scared of socks. I feel my dog has feared imprint in him so that's why everything also he scared one. Plastic bag noise, socks, bin, shelltox can, etc.

Anyway, I opened my Orijen today, will start feeding Casper Orijen + Eaglepack tomorrow for yet another dog kibble transition since my Eaglepack is running low. I realized Orijen smells horrible - very kuat the smell, maybe furkids will love it but my nose cannot tahan!!

Baru kena sounding from gf saying my dog is not champion dog, feed so expensive food. Hahahaha... From Nutri Source --> Eaglepack --> Orijen!!

Nutri Source dunno how much liao forgotten
Eaglepack RM45 for 3kg
Orijen RM45 for 2.5kg

What's next eh? RM45 for 2g? Hehehehe... Need to be more economical already!!
