Need some advise before going ahead with a purchase, i have been holding back from purchasing a mech kb but i think now it is a good time tongue.gif

It seems poker 2 is quite the hot stuff~ but i check out geekhack it says vortex makes some bad quality stuff~ and some disagree with it

Since it is my 1st mech kb, should i just try out a keycool 87 or straight go for poker? i like the 87 tkl but poker 2 -60% size looks cool too...

I received advise that for my 1st i should go for red as i dislike tactile feel... ( some games req double tap)

The question here is should i get poker 2 or try out keycool 87 pbt or just any 87 mech kb?

Vortex had some "bad stuff" during the first gen. Ducky also had a lot of bad stuff. Rosewill also had bad batch of RK9000. They are history now. These days everybody are quite "pro" and are already used to making mechanical keyboards with least amount of possible flaws.
KBT Oni 75%. There's a Chinese review comparing it with Filco. Arriving next week. However, it only comes in MX Brown

Do you want to get something because it is popular or because you want to use it?
Vortex's mainstream stuff, i.e keyboards are pretty good. Just that they have less attention to detail when it comes to the plastic molding and minor design flaws. These are not dealbreakers. Just minor annoyances with workarounds if you figure out how to do it. The POKER 2 is a third generation product, after the Poker and the Pure. Vortex should incorporate the learnings and they seem to have, with improved features on top of the older boards.

Main issue with the quality is on the alu case that they have made. Also, some people raised complaints on the font that they have used on the PBT, but that is really personal preference. Majority of negative feedback on vortex is the major delay on the delivery.

Keycool keyboards are pretty decent and a good buy if you so choose to use it. But do note that some spacebars do not work if you decide to splurge on custom keycaps. Keyboards with more common spacebar spacings are the KBT Oni, Filco, CM storm QFR, Ducky etc. Do ask here if you are unsure. Since you are here, you might come across custom keycaps and may consider buying them in the future. try to avoid boards with weird key layouts unless you are content with using the original keycaps.

Nobody can tell you what form factor to choose. You are the decider. But the main consideration is whether you can use the poker layout for day to day use. It has a shallow learning curve but some people don't like it.Tkl is more traditional, and hence, no problem with adaptability.

Since you game, ask yourself whether do you need to use the arrow cluster frequently, or is wasd enough. Do you need the F keys?  If the answer is no, then you have your decision.

I personally like 60% boards due to looks, portability and modability. There are many mods available at a decent pricings compared to the TKL counterparts. I have 5 60% boards in different switch types and layout, so, my opinion may be skewed.
Go get a Filco or something.
If people don't offer, pakai import la.
Not your first time also kan?

First of all, thank you for replying me.

To answer your question, i have been hunting for a mech kb for a while now... being holding it off for my audio gears~ which has been completed a few months ago and i decided to pamper myself with something as i received nothing for my birthday this year tongue.gif

Yep, geekhack did mention about keycool 87 difficulties in finding compatible spacebars~

Form factor which is giving me a headache. I was prepared to go without the numpad but to go to a 60% board causes me to think twice as i am afraid i miss out on the f1 to f12 button.. which in my case, i may only use it like less than 5 times a month ><. If it was months ago i was prepared to splurge myself with a coolermaster tkl but i cant find myself to like the shape. So i waited lol

Anyhow i promised ct that i will grab a unit from him. I will just start with a red switch and see how it goes along the way~ or i may change my choice of switch along the way as i ask him to mail me on a later date.

Use the puller slowly pull each side at once.
the 6 RGB is PBT material.

There are some LEDs around as well .
Most of them act as indicator.

You have the option to mod all keys have LED,
just let someone do if you're not familiar with.

Imo stock red is really too light.
*
Nvm just use the stock spacebar for now

this poker 2 got hw many led indicator? 1 at caps lock only?

stock red really light... so many typos.... but i like the springy feel... maybe if the come out with black i should go for them haha and i need to test out brown... wan to feel it

some command so hard to get... the fn+esc only gives me ` not the other option lol
for chrome shift esc gives me the taskmanager
and alt esc seems works like alt tab but without the indicator
jeez so much to learn lol

but overall i like it esp the springy feel

Remove the alt keys with wire keypuller first. Later lift off the spacebar with your finger by applying increasing force from both sides.

The extra keys should be PBT.

You need to put (solder) your own LED on other switches (keys)

ahh noted

asking newbie to solder is bad idea lol tongue.gif

actually, what you need to do now is keep calm, and buy another keyboard.  brows.gif

LOL~ No to peer pressure tongue.gif

I am fine and adapting well enough... only starting to miss arrow and ~

@ct: the manual doesnt have all the command and the kb is too new for info lol

btw ~ only comes from fn+Lshift+esc. It doesnt work with fn+Rshift+esc but it works if u Rshift+fn+esc... darn weird right? tongue.gif

Due to lack of electric knowledge, want to ask, is it the usb splitter/usb hub will affect the MKB and mouse usage because of sharing the usb power at the same time?
*
My hub doesnt provide enough amp for both my g400 and poker 2.... i had to connect my kb directly to the motherboard.
