This is true. Calculation as below assuming petrol price today @ RM2.38/litre

Smiles:-
3000 points / 2.38 = 1260 litres for RM45 petrol

Mymesra:-
3000 points / 3x points = 1000 litres for RM30 petrol

Prefer BInfinite card since can gain & redeem many merchants instead of Petron & Petronas only can gain points on petrol station.
Plus I'm lucky to get bonus 10,000 pts and worth RM100.

for mesra card every 1000litres you will get 3k points = RM30
if mesra you spent 1500 litres, you will get 4500 points = RM45
for smiles ron95, every 1500 litres you will get 3k points = RM45
for smiles ron97,, every 1000 litres you will get 3k points = RM45

So from this direct calculation if you use ron95 with petron, the redemption value is pretty much the same

1500 liters (mymesra) vs 1260 liters (smiles) = difference of 240 liters

That translates to > RM500 worth of additional petrol to pump at Petronas before u get the same equivalent rebate value.

My bad as I still thought that RM1 petrol = 1 point. It turns out that Petron has updated it to calculate per liter basis Instead of amount in RM spend on fuel pump

rm1=1 point, I thought only bhp is doing that. I just recently received petron miles with rm10 preload
