I'm planning to get all this certificate in the next 12 month(self study) and want to do early preparation, but I can't seem to find details for Malaysia(I'm specifically looking at Cyberjaya or KL). Please share it here if you've took the test or know something about it especially on test centre location.

This is what I've got so far based on some obscure sources, please add if you know anything...

CompTIA Linux+ (3-in-1 program)
Price : ~RM600
Standard Reference : CompTIA Linux+ Study Guide

Red Hat Certified System Administrator
Price : ~RM1400
Standard Reference : RHCSA/RHCE Red Hat Linux Certification Study Guide & RHCSA/RHCE Red Hat Linux Certification Practice Exams with Virtual Machines

Red Hat Certified Engineer
Price : ~RM1400
Standard Reference : RHCSA/RHCE Red Hat Linux Certification Study Guide & RHCSA/RHCE Red Hat Linux Certification Practice Exams with Virtual Machines

### Update September 2016 ###

Linux Foundation also offered their own certification 2 years ago. Their exam is hands on, proctored and cover almost the same
objective as RedHat's. Linux Foundation is the organization that basically employ Linus Torvalds by the way.

Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator(LFCSA) almost equivalent to RHCSA
Price : $300 equivalent to RM1230
https://training.linuxfoundation.org/certification/lfcs

Linux Foundation Certified Engineer(LFCE) almost equivalent to RHCE
Price : $300 equivalent to RM1230
https://training.linuxfoundation.org/certification/lfce

for one. not point in getting RHCSA, RHCE supersedes it. RHCE is also integrated with RHCSA(like the old RHCT). if you failed to score for RHCE, you may still get RHCSA. my advice, just try for RHCE, if you managed that, it'll supersedes the other two anyway.

as for exam center, i know of two places for RHCE exams. iverson in damansara, centralpoint. and another one in KL that i don't remember at the moment. i think these are the only two test centers for Redhat related exams(RHCSA,/RHCE/not sure whether RHCVA is still available).

If I'm not mistaken to take RHCE one should have RHCSA, no?
http://www.redhat.com/training/certifications/rhce/

Linux+ is compulsory for me as its include LPIC-1 which is a requirement if I want to go for LPIC-2 or LPIC-3 later on.

but redhat is the most recognized. try going to an interview for a linux related position with an RHCE cert in you resume. cool2.gif .

plus, in linux, no such thing as vendor specific, it's running the same kernel anyway. cisco certs are even more vendor specific, nobody cares about those.

True, most prospective employee wouldn't even care about LPIC-3 or the likes, RHCE is the godlike cert for Linux as far as they concern smile.gif

mine was RHEL5, under the old policy. will only go "not current" when RHEL 7 comes out. if under RHEL6 policy, it will only stay "current" for 3 years, which sucks doh.gif .

actually the jacket comes later. check with iverson. they should at least give you a t-shirt or something, because you can't buy RHCE stuff from redhat store here in Malaysia. they don't post here.

redhat don't even give the physical certs anymore. they've gone really stingy. shakehead.gif
