 how to remove melissa virus?

my old pc was infected with the melissa virus,i think its because i din update my os for too long, is there anyway to solve it? cry.gif

cant,i cant do anything,the only thing i was told by the IT shop was it was the melissa virus and ask me to throw away my old pc,any hopes of saving it?

dont take everything from the IT shop. They say probably because they lazy and afraid you will ask them to fix. Usually i fix the thing my self when they said cant do anything.

back to the topic.. how about connect it as external drive and get all the data? you want the data only, right?
wait... malissa virus destroy doc ?
if that the case, prepare a no use hard drive to do the operation.

my pc very very very old,imagine its still using ide hdd..hahaha..i called the IT stall they ask me to buy a ide to usb converter or hdd casing then try to copy data to another pc then throw the rest,why they keep ask me throw my old pc? still functional..

from what i heard its an old virus..online saying "ur done,get ur hdd out,plug into external hdd bay,wipe it clean and reformat it"

possible get rescue CD from kasperksy or symantec, boot with it and scan the hdd to clean the virus.
Melissa virus kinda old, surprise it is still infecting.

Install Linux on it, works great on old pc. You can try Ubuntu or Linux Mint for starter.

Somebody working on security firm told me sometime it's more cost and time effective to throw away the old component and replace it with the new one rather than trying to fix it. So yes, this is not 'Bolehland' or anything like that, it is a legit advice. Anyway, the choice is yours.
