Going next Tuesday but getting a little nervous because of my previous trips to Indonesia. That's why it's been more than 10 years since my last visit.

Every time I pass the immigration, these jokers will blatantly say something like "wah, dari Malaysia, kaya la..belanjar sikit la" while holding on to my passport.  I really hated that coz it is extortion.

For those of you who frequently visit Bali, any such unpleasant encounters? What can I expect?
*
nope. no such thing happened. I think they would like to spend their breath talking to mat sallehs rather than msian doh.gif

Good lah..I hope to have positive experience for a change.

I have been to Indonesia twice - both times to Medan and both times I experienced this at the airport immigration! Left a very bad taste.

So here's to a much better experience with Bali! nod.gif

I stayed in Ramayana during my first night. Nothing special for the room, but the environment in the hotel is good.
Bali style decoration, lotsa trees/flowers and it's near to the Kuta beach (around 5 minutes walk).
I have some Ramayana's photos here in my blogpost.

Depends what u wanna do. Ubud is just a chillax place. Just eat sleep and relax.

The food I think u already well aware. Prolly a stroll along jalan monkey forest for shops and stuff. A visit to the ubud palace and market.

Prolly a day or two will be sufficient there. If u know how to ride a bike, prolly you can go around the paddy fields and sight seeing around.

Pizza bagus is a must try, Babi guling as well. Same goes to nuri ribs. But dirty duck is meh, overrated and expensive.

Why u gonna skip kintamani? Meaning u gonna skip lake brutan as well? IMO it's really chilling and nice scenery.

IC, I am not really cultural kind of tourist. I skipped most temples and cultural dance. Some places I even only spend 30mins like tanah lot and uluwAtu. Just to take pic and have a sight of the sunset.

try bakso and any random nasi padang or nasi campur.

i don't think we'll have problems about places to visit/things to eat as we'll be having a local friend bring us around

Kintamani is still a KIV for now. hmm.gif

Went for the Kecap/Fire Dance in Uluwatu.
Its facing the sunset position so we can actually enjoy the sunset before the show.
Show start around 6.30pm and cost 70,000 IDR per person.

Its so damn crowded until ppl need to sit on the floor around 6 feet away for the fire torch. So better be early if peak season.
Dont sit too near the fire, I think some audience got burnt a little. blink.gif

The fire dance is nice, enjoyed it, just that it was too crowded.

I found that quality of babi guling is dropping. I tried 3 times, the last time I went, it was not as good as it used to be...
