you can go for poetic or original/Oem bumper

1. N4 does NOT support OTG by default. You need root + custom kernel + very bulky and complex, non-portable setup (Y cable, 5 pin cable, external power supply) to use OTG. Not worth the hassle.

2. Titanium Backup (an app, best used with root) can do that. Pro version is god send. Can backup all your system+user apps + data and restore whenever you want. Can move the backup to PC and transfer back if you want. But make sure you don't RESTORE system app/data to be safe.

Or try Carbon (another alternative, but I sincerely find titanium much better and reliable).

3. i use my N4 naked. No scratch or whatsoever, few months already. But my friend's also naked, got one hairline scratch on the screen. Maybe I am more careful.

P/S: I can never put a case on my N4 because I rely on gestures a lot, I swipe from both left and right side frequently. Using a case obstructs the smoothness.

app developers receive the update like we do. They won't have access to early builds unless their device is on the testing branch. So give them some time to update their apps to be compatible with 4.3 if there is any bugs.
Give us more details man, what kind of error, what were the steps you used? Which guide did you follow etc

I think only Google employee & selected OEM's in Open Handset Alliance can get the Android code earlier. For the OEM if I'm not mistaken they mostly receive codes related to HAL with PDK.

As azrash said just sit back at wait for the app developers to fix the apps whch breaks compatibility in 4.3. Active app developers should fix the apps quickly.Apex Launcher dev fix his application quicky when people complained Apex Launcher cause FC in leaked 4.3 build.

App compatibility. For example Google changed display related stuff in Android 4.3 which is causing majority of the video players crashing. These problem should be fixed in due time.
