Answering the question, it's no contest that Apple's iOS has better games.
Not only in terms of sheer quantity, it's also heavily optimised due to the restricted set of devices devs can develop on.
On the other side, Android do tend to have issues for gaming. It's not really of the question of horsepower either. Specs-wise, just recently the newer devices are really capable in gaming (the ones with Adreno 320 and PowerVR MP GPUs). But then some games may not run on the other device. Not to mention on how some newer high end devices can't even download certain games from Play Store.
Also, due to the easy-ness on committing piracy on Android (put in the APK, and install right away), some game development company also treating it as second-class citizen. Some might even skip the annual release, such as FIFA 13. Patches also came in pretty slow, so newer devices can't download those existing titles either.
Well, the only way for gaming to thrive on Android is that they need some "push" like what Nvidia did with Tegra Zone games. It's just too bad that Tegra bombed, without any design win this year (except the first party Shield).
.
btw, if TS child is still small, all those preschool games are pretty much available on both devices. Worry not, Sesame Workshop interactive games are also available on Android for example.
