Hi All,

We recently went to a Dr. Windscreen shop in Puchong (Jln Belas 15, near Tesco) because my windscreen had developed a crack. We wanted to get an estimate and – if the price was reasonable –have my windscreen fixed right there and then.

So there we were, inside their shop – and no one entertained us, acknowledged us, looked at us, or even asked us what we were doing there. It was as if we weren’t even there.

Bewildered, I nonetheless asked one of the shop personnel if anybody could look at my windscreen because I wanted to have it fixed. This guy, a Chinese (wearing a Dr Windscreen uniform) just gave me a blank stare. It was as if there was nobody in front of him, talking to him.
He then talked to a co-employee who was beside him, and they both laughed at us. After enjoying themselves, they then both went about their business, completely ignoring us.

Let me say that again – after asking for some service, the Dr Windscreen guys laughed at us and then completely IGNORED US!

My friend and I were like – “What’s that about?”

Anyway, we walked out because they obviously didn’t want our business. We searched the internet for another shop in Puchong and promptly found Dr. Cermin (Bandar Puchong, near Carrefour). We went there and, within an hour, we got ourselves a new windscreen for the car.

Maybe we got treated so badly at Dr Windscreen because we were foreigners. It’s really hard to gauge the mindset of nincompoops they got working at that place. The point is, if you’re a foreigner and you don’t want to be laughed at and ignored and treated like garbage, I strongly urge you not to go to Dr.Windscreen. You don’t need that kind of grief.

Clever post. By discrediting the poster, you hoped that people would also just ignore the message?

Perhaps you feel this post is unfair because you have a friend or a relative working at Dr Windscreen? Or maybe you work there yourself? If that’s the case, then of course you’d be biased and won’t believe anything negative written about that shop in Puchong.

Anyway, this post really wasn’t meant for the likes of you. I posted this as a public service to other expats, especially those who can’t speak “Malay/Bahasa” even if their lives depended on it, to stay away from that shop because they treat you like garbage.

so should at least learn some basic "Bahasa Malaysia" if you want to survive in our country...
although English is widely use...

and well you should know that Dr Windscreen and Dr Cermin are franchise..
just one branch give you a problem, it doesn't mean all their branch are the same....

if you want to complaint, use a proper channel...complaint direct to their HQ

[Toph2] we've been following this forum for a while now. it's quite informative, especially for foreigners like me. this was why I thought I'd post this here, knowing very well other expats like me also follow this forum. besides, if you find it fishy that this was my topic for my very first post, suffice it to say this was the topic that I really wanted to share.

[Toph2] By the way, Let me also say that one reason why I felt so pissed was because, after 5 years in Malaysia, this was the very first time I encountered such rude and uncouth behavior. I've met many other Malaysians who couldn't speak English before but this was the first time they laughed at me to my face and ignored me altogether.

people are not all born the same...
some will look up at you...some will look down at you...

Regarding being treated rudely, I'm glad to say that 'yes', this was the first time I've encountered that kind of treatment. Most Malaysians I've had the privilege of meeting or interacting with have been very nice people. I'm not saying all I've met are saints over here. But nothing so offensive. To be fair, I've also encountered morons like these back in my own country. The only difference is, if this was back in my country, I wouldn't have played Mr Nice Guy and simply walked out.

As for the other things, please, there's no need to apologize. As I said, Malaysia has been a great experience for me and its people are some of the best I've ever met anywhere in the world.

Sure there are problems here and there, and not everything is perfect - but what country can make that claim? So let's all try and be of good cheer. Better things are still to come for this country. I know it.
