Its already out on iOS.

Played it and its a piece of shit. Some of the best plants from the old game like Stompy, Fire Wood, Frost Peashooter has become IAP, while the game is actually quite difficult to play now because EA wants to encourage you to do some IAP. Progression of the game is blocked by gates now, where you need to collect randomly dropped keys to advance in the "story" or get new plants.

Havent seen the old break the vase mode, Walnut bowling and so on yet. Zen garden is gone too. To encourage you to spend money, they made some of the old zombies like the bucket one to be very very tough to kill, probably as hard as Gargantuan in the first game.However, some of the new zombies are quite interesting to fight with, while consistent to the theme.

There isnt enough levels so far, so they force you to play the whole act again once you reach the game to the next so that you can collect those stars to unlock the door to the next part of the story.

Crazy Dave isnt as funny anymore, while the new character felt kinda soulless with no pun intended.

The game felt soulless where the charm of Popcap is gone. PvZ2 is polished, but it feels like it has no depth under its polished skin.

I say, just keep playing the old game. The new one is just awful. Still, its a soft launch, so thing will still change as you go.

I NOTICED a lot of bashing towards the in-game APP purchase... Do they not know PopCap themselves are also charging money since the first game? Well nothing much of different but some efforts.

The difference is, PvZ1 did not purposely take out good plants like Fire Wood, Frost Peas, even bloody +1 and +2 plant slot upgrade and so on just make people get it by paying. If you want the Frost Pea in PvZ2, prepare to pay $3 for access to it. You cannot earn these items without paying money, which is whats wrong with IAP. I dont mind games having IAP as long as they are optional, but not taking out useful mechanics and force you to pay real money for the best items, if not force you to go through lots of pain to just to play the game. At the same time, traditional game designs do not apply this kind exploitative business model on the players. That is exactly whats wrong with IAP and also why most iOS games are full of shit.

You cannot design a fun game when thinking about how to optimally monetise your games. It is either a fun game with less profits or a profitable game by exploiting the users in the same way how shit games like Candy Crush or Clash of Titans exploits their users.

Popcap charged for the first game but they didnt lock out useful features behind pay walls. Any IAP thats comes after that was optional, while the game is packed with real content out of the box. PvZ2 felt so empty with so little levels till they force you to replay all the levels after you finish the first round.

EA should just burn in hell for screwing up another great franchise with their greediness.

Played it. EA kills the thrill, thanks to the IAP. Seriously, I was so excited but some of the usual plants are not available. And now you get a 'collect stars/keys to unlock this n that' system, or IAP.

Agree with you. They need to CHANGE or they will crumble. It's sad to see they are desperate for "little cash" from most of us. Can't they just be satisfied by maintaining customer support? REMOVE THE GOD DAMN IAP stuff that renders us hard to play.

totally agreed wif cheesenium..

yeah they introduced some interesting new plants and revamp existing one, i.e. grave buster to make it more plant-like...

but when i noticed how many pvz1 key char r IAP....it jus make me flip the table and uninstall it....

here hoping EA gets burn in hell soon...

Still, some of the stuff arent really correct now, as they did tweak the whole stars system where you need less stars to advance but still, its an abomination due to EA's greed.

Reached the second world and i still didnt like the game at all. It just doesnt feel like the game i used to play.
