Firstly, are they even using a smartphone. Secondly, please ask them if they are interested to learn. No point buying something when you have no idea if they want to use it or not.

My parents are not digging into games but mostly on news and emailing.
The process of teaching them, not too hard, but definitely not too easy too. |

That's why must buy a Samsung smartphone or tablet.
I thought of giving them one but instead giving up my Note for them. It really save me lots of trouble trying to explain why I can't do this or that. Besides, some apps that are not free on iOS is free on Android Play Store. Old folks ain't used to the idea of paying for apps. In their mentality, the phone must do everything. |

Well, my parents bought an iPad but they don't know and don't want to know how to use. So during first year i bring it along with me when i go college. Till recently they know how to use, I don't have the chance to use anymore.

My mother is 87 years old and she plays Mahjong Tea House, the purchased version, cos in the free version, she kept on winning and was stopped from playing after a few rounds!! She also learnt to play ACe Tripeak card games and mahjong tiles. Since we share the IPad, I had to give her time out so that I can do my harvesting in Smurfs village. She is getting to be less mobile nowadays , so I guess It's time I let her have the iPad all to herself.

My old iPhones I pass to my mum. She doesn't really like it and prefer her old Nokia.
Both my dad and my mum have an iPad each. Mum is more tech savvy and has been using emails, online banking, etc. all the time. Dad doesn't even know how to turn on a computer. Mum uses the iPad for browsing, email, news, facetime and finding recipes when she is in the kitchen. She doesn't use the iPad often, only when she is lazy to turn on the computer. Dad uses the iPad for mainly news and now learning how to use email to communicate with his old friends, learning how to facetime with us too. He kinda hooked to it now, using it everyday while having breakfast and bringing it everywhere. They don't play games. Depends on what your parents interest are. Most elderly people I know uses iPad to watch movies and read the news. |

My mom enjoys hers very much and has even done online shopping. Frequently asks me on how to buy stuff online Love my parents |
