Anyone managed to update to the latest firmware 10.1.1.A.1.307 yet ?

I stumbled upon the most detailed review of the ZL here

Photo comparison of XPERIA Z - 10.1.1.A.1.307 v/s XPERIA ZL - 10.1.1.A.1.253

I believe both camera is same, the different spot here due to different firmware use, it is obvious newer firmware 10.1.1.A.1.307 can capture much better light, which given much appealing and bright output than previous firmware 10.1.1.A.1.253, well done Sony, again't improvement on camera output. biggrin.gif

Nice improvement for the camera. At least Sony keeps improving with each subsequent f/w update.

However, 307 still not available when I checked with PC companion today.

Ya, it is great Sony improve on camera. smile.gif

Flash Tools ? You mean Sony Update Service ? That didn't have it too.

you sure?
I tested both SUS and PC Companion and both shows that the 307 update is there.
I even flashed a stock 307 last night..
*
Yup....just checked again.

How to see if 307 update is there ?

I clicked on the Xperia care tab at the bottom of the PC Companion and a website popped up and said 253 is the latest f/w http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/softwa...ones/xperia-zl/

Did I miss something ? Thanks for your assistance....

You using ZL? Sony haven't push out .307 firmware for ZL yet for any country at the moment.
*
Yes, am using the ZL.

So, it's only for Z at the moment ?

Anyone know whats is the sonyericson eating my battery ?

That happened to me when I used bluetooth external speaker paired to my ZL to listen to music and used as speaker phone.

I got the Philips SBT30 SoundShooter external speaker and it rocks ! Sound is really loud and good but it doesn't have as much functions as Sony's.

Yes, may as well flash the 307 to your ZL as Sony still has not release it via PC Companion, OTA or Update Service mad.gif

some complain for my unit

vmad.gif

A few days back, I check out the cam on the .253 firmware

the setup.
1. White paper with an A written in blue ink
2. The phone is suspended above the paper ~ 80-100 mm
3. Several type setting used

the results:
On .253 FW, Normal mode, HDR ON, ISO 100
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

On .253 FW, Superior Auto, HDR OFF, ISO auto
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

back then I though I have no idea for the second banding problem
the first one with the ghosting is because of fake HDR on the Z
where it will take 2/3 frames and stitch it together
some how on the white paper the algorithm mess up

And I retest on the .307 FW hopping improvement

the results:
.307 FW, HDR ON, ISO 400
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

.307 FW, HDR OFF, ISO 800
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

.307 FW, HDR OFF, ISO 1600
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

.307 FW, HDR OFF, ISO 200 or 100
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

bear in mind all this test was done under fluorescent lighting

gonna try out under sunlight
*
This is shocking ! I tried it out indoors with fluorescent lighting around my room and got the same results uzing my ZL with 253 f/w shocking.gif

Sony better buck up !

Looks like ZL is by passing the 307 firmware straight to Jellybean 4.2.2 !

Tried downloading it via PC Companion but error message keeps popping up. Probably some problems with Sony's servers.

Downloading it now via Sony Update Service now rclxms.gif

Total file size is 718.1 Mb !

I noticed the following missing from my ZL after updating to 4.2.2 :

1) No more music widget in the lock screen unless a song is already playing.

2) Capture screen option no longer available from long pressing power button. I have to hold down power button and volume down key together to activate screen capture or use the small apps (Clip Manager).

Some of the improvement & features that I like about 4.2.2 on ZL
1. Customisable quick settings on slide down notification window
2. Official ps3 ds3 wireless support
3. ExFAT support for MicroSDXC

There is also Daydream (in Settings, Display) which is supposed to work when docked or charging.

I can't get it to work though.

I find the WiFi reception on my ZL improved very much with the update to 4.2.2. Previously, it disconnects very easily when router is a little far away. Hardly disconnects now smile.gif

However, phone once again heats up badly and battery drains fast when using Chrome.

Try use dolphin.. Me disabled chrome and use dolphin as my default browser. Fast, easier to navigate. Friendly UI.

Yes, the latest version of Dolphin browser is really good and doesn't make the phone heat up.

How do you disable Chrome ?

WiFi signal weak in xperia here I think mostly ppl are talking about the signal bar shown.

It's diff with diff manufacturer. As long as the WiFi didn't dc always compared with other phones in same area, it's mean good actually.
*
The wifi on my ZL used to disconnect all the time before the update to 4.2.2 and its really frustrating. Other phones which I used before didn't have this issue. It's much better now.

The wifi signal bar somewhat misleading. I can still get full speed even though the signal is really low.

I need some feedback from XZ users, do you have to change your SIM card to get Maxis LTE ?

According to their customer service, only a few phones can get it now and XZ is not one of them.

Maxis by default will tell you XZ is not supported. Forget about their nonsense. Their support staffs are not well informed n updated
As long your card is microsim n issued in the past 1year it is auto LTE enabled. If you cannot detect LTE in LTE areas than go n change sincard at any Maxis center. There is no activation required

That's what I thought. Wanted to tell the the person off but decided to hold back vmad.gif

Thanks for your feedback.
