i have a question..

assuming i've rooted my phone and currently running .253 official (LOCKED BL)

and if i were to update to the 4.2.2 when it comes for the XZ, will i lose my root privileges?
*
You will lose root, unless you update using OTA . DooMLord has already released a new toolkit to root the 4.2 update so you don't have to worry.

BTW,just updated my XZL to 4.2. It is definitely smoother than before. The multitasking UI is also quite nice. A shame though that the quick settings panel is still styled after the one in 4.1 and not like the one in AOSP 4.2.

AFAIK there's no need to wipe the phone to root it using this new method.

I still use Chrome if I need my bookmarks, but when I don't I use Boat Browser. It's so far the fastest browser I've tried on Android.

It's quite lot.. If normal without install any apps, there should got white, blue, green and red. Mostly green, blue, white.. Red only when battery less than 15%. If u do install some apps like illumination bar pro, light flow, u can set pink, orange, yellow, purple, green, deep blue, light blue.

I see, guess I need to pay the service center a visit then. Which service center in Klang Valley would you guys recommend?

Why? Ur zl meet any problem? Try view th photo in album and check out.
*
Aside from the notification LED [which i just noticed after almost 2 months of use doh.gif ] the phone is working fine. When viewing photos in the stock gallery app the LED just turns magenta with every photo, even ones that do not have that color in it.

Right.. Test with the apps on above and do report again see..
*
Just tested, only the colors i stated earlier worked. If I set it to white it turns magenta, light blue/cyan turns into dark blue.

Is there a ROM for 4.2.2? I mean, I only found unbranded from HK, Netherlands etc. No SG? I'm wondering if there is any complication over using other regions ROM.
*
Technically there shouldn't be any problem using the ftf from another region. You might lose region specific apps though. You can also update using PC Companion or the Sony Update Service software, this way you'll get the SG ftf flashed to your phone.

Wanna ask how was the battery life of ZL? is it really bad ?

what is the weak point of ZL so far?
*
These are my opinions after using the ZL for a few months

Pros
1-Large screen,compact body,on screen navigation buttons.
2-Low price for the specs you get.
3-Loud speaker, good sound quality through earphones.
4-Mostly lightweight UI skin,runs 4.2.2 already.

Cons
1-Screen's viewing angle is narrow, and the black levels are not low enough
2-No Google Edition available
3-Camera not as good as expected, but still pretty decent
4-Not as smooth [it's fast, but the animations sometimes has dropped frames/not 60fps all the time] as a Nexus 4 running custom kernel + CM10.1 stable but still about on par with HTC One,S4.

Battery life is a bit lower than the Nexus 4 sweat.gif

Wow, thanks for ur impressed reply.

I am currently using butterfly.
Is it better to switch or keep on using butterfly?
*
I'd keep the butterfly, it's imo better than the zl, except for the os (if already using sense 5 i'd say it's on par or better than the one on the zl).

need an honest opinion here, i am thinking of buying the Z

my concern is, the phone is already in its 5 month age cycle and to be honest at most another 8 months before consider obsolete and outdated...

it is worth to get it now? considering the price is still floating around 1.8k range...
*
I'd take a look at the HTC One as well. Great screen.speakers, build quality.

my battery life since yesterday from 7,00pm till now...which is acceptable for my usages..

My battery only lasted 12h yesterday, with the cpu being kept awake 7h. BBS showed the rgb led is keeping the cpu awake though i'm not sure what the rgb led refers to,probably the led notification light. sweat.gif
