well, A = ZR. A is for japan only while ZR is international model. basically they are the same phone, only slight diff in spec like those TV tuner thingy...

and so far, Z, ZL and ZR have very very similar spec. when it comes to release updates, i think they will be similarly released for them. Thus far, i think any updates for Z are also released same time for ZL right?

prior to this, S, SL Acro S and Ion also similar spec. their updates also similar and releases quite at the time (... except now still pending JB for ION...)

I know A is ZR with slightly different.

Z and ZL consider same device different design. ZR wise is different on screen resolution, the rest also same.

wta, is google playstore always update itself without any notification? cause i suddenly realized that my transparent playstore 4.1.6 mod already turn to stock playstore. so i checked the version, mine is 4.1.10 already.

yeah... flagship model have the safest bet of getting updates (hopefully won't end up like XS, getting JB update almost the last one... )

but what i don't understand is all the diff variant of "flagship" model released...
Z, ZL, ZR and UL - high end model
SP - mid range
L, M, E - low end

is there a need to release so many diff variant of the flagship model? or does the ZR consider mid range cos of smaller screen size?

I guess Sony define "Mid-High" then.

I think sony try to play safe. They fix bug first before release final. Just my opinion.

Actually Sony release too much.

Z, ZL = same, just one without water resistance. If already thinking of ZR release, the ZL is extra, lucky it look quite nice in actual.

ZR for people prefer smaller size, even it is only 4.6 but still can use 1080P screen, so I count this as middle-high.

SP - Mid range.

L, M, E - all low end, too many low end series. (M mention as middle range, for me, sorry this is low end phone)

UL is Japan only, a bit like ZL in worldwide, A is Japan also, similar as ZR. Actually I seen no point release specific slightly different / change name for Japan only.

I thought ZR is only 720p, no?
Can record 1080p video though.

but comes to think of it. samsung also doing the same for their flagship
S4 8 core
S4 LTE
S4 active (spec unclear yet)
S4 google edition
S4 mini (low/midrange)

maybe this is the current trend of making the most out of your best selling model

if i not mistaken, early this year, SONY said they will only focus in making a premium phone. i thought they were no longer making low end, i guess it was the opposite, they make a lot more low end phones now.

for im fined with sony releasing more phones, so that many people can choose which one suited them. only i hope sony wont delay update for too long especially for their high end phones. xperia s was really a tragedy.

I think because people are complaining too many high end from sony..now need to compete with others in term of low ends..

Yalo, opposite, so many low end phone now, it is too many low end. Low end phone sell-able? I doubt about it, surrounding me most still pick High end or middle range. Hardly people pick low end and I never recommended also, Android for low end is a bit ... err not nice to use.


But I believe it is too many already now, 3 model ... hmm... where else middle range only one. That M is low end for me, spec is low end, how could be middle range.

Probably have S4 Zoom and S4 Mega also, haha!

But Samsung most is high end, I believe high end is much sell-able than low end, low end release for keeping it own.

when i was studying marketing 3 years ago, i remember there was a marketing strategy for a company to spammed the market with a lot of products of their own, the purpose was that consumer will end up still buying their product rather opt for the competitor's products. so basically the ideas is that it is better to compete with your own product rather than the competitors.

samsung succeeded in this marketing strategy. most people i know only see samsung brand when it come to buy a handphone.

That why I put it under middle-high.

4.6" does not means no point using 1080P screen, it is not 4.3".

720P screen also can record 1080P video, this had nothing to do with what the screen resolution attached.

This is true, but if too many, given confusion.

And I really no idea on Sony, release so many low end phone what for, certain people that don't know will though Sony phone so bad if accidentally buying the low end series.
