QUOTE(benny888 @ Jun 22 2013, 08:43 AM) It is Google OS that explicitly said unused ram is wasted ram lah! Not he say it. Ram is meant to be used till as much as possible. As posted above don't think it act like windows yes..goole said that unused ram is consider waste ram... i saw a lot of forumer also mention that already specially samsung / nexus i think... i nvr care the ram size or install any ram free program after ICS. |

QUOTE(Dannyl @ Jun 22 2013, 09:43 AM) Ahh suddenly become Samsung vs Sony. Let me chip in my 2 cents me me me...want to add another 2 cent here... haha... anyway..i like big brand phone... so samsung and sony i also like... and i am carry ip5 as my daily phone as well.... I've used Ericsson 768, SE T630, SE X10i, SE Xperia TX, SE Xperia ZL. I've always liked Sony's design, and I believe they produce the sexiest phones in the world. But somehow I feel as though Sony software does not take advantage of the hardware. Like the X10i, the hardware was top notch at that time, but the buggy and laggy software really let it down. Even now, with ZL in my hands, it doesn't feel like this year's tech. Fully factory reset, the homescreen feels laggy, and the animation where the app launches feels like it's skipping frames. In contrast, Samsung phones are plasticky, and the design is... just passable. But they are the most lenient in warranty checks, and remain popular with the 2nd-hand market. Hacker-friendly and easy to return to stock, with plenty of dev support. Some say the S3 hangs, lags, heats up, etc, but from my few months of use, I haven't had any of those. Even stock is good enough, which is surprising to me (never mind the bloatware, we can just disable those, which is just as good as removing them). Stock launcher is smooth (although not functionally enough for me, I prefer MiHome or Nova), even smoother when compared to a fresh reset ZL or Butterfly. Of course, I'm still very much interested in Sony phones, otherwise I wouldn't be holding a ZL now. i just want to point out 1 thing samsung weak point over sony... consider all using original stock rom ya. you may test out also: if your phone book got 4 person call andy, which you name it differently as 1. CompanyA andy, 2. Andy LYN, 3. Fruit Andy Sdn Bhd. and 4. Andy Chin. If using samsung, u press your dail pad with 2639 ( which is also means andy), samsung will only show you 1 answer which is Andy LYN, but in sony, it display 4..... maybe not apply to all but at least it happen to me, already confirm with my previous s2/note1/note2/s3/s4/tab 7.7/7plus. |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Jun 22 2013, 10:26 AM) that the issue, I prefer it stick in background longer than let keep clear by itself. I know all this and know how google work. this 1 i agree also as every one also hope their phone got more ram for future prove... who know 1 day android 5/6 require min 1gb ram recommend 2gb ram....Killing task is a process also. But never denied 2GB is working far better than 1GB. 1GB is just a minimum requirement of Jellybean, no device on earth with minimum will working perfectly. Extra RAM even is wasted most time is helping the device run smooth and better. 2GB is a must for Jellybean except Nexus 10 due to extra 800MB more get reserve for GPU, I can assure such high resolution device need 3GB RAM to perform perfect and smooth without any issue. Clear itself more means more reopen back time required for apps you already done open. |

QUOTE(pikachu01 @ Jun 22 2013, 02:16 PM) Services are always one of the last things to be killed (before visible/perceptible apps). It is rarely killed (unless your free RAM absolutely drops below 50MB). aiya....chrome was one of my favorite 3 browser and i install at all my iOS and Android.. i choose it just because it always sync m other pc bookmark..hope new chrome will improve the battery hungry and slow down issue. As for Chrome, it's services are special as it maintains the sandbox, thus is tied to the visible process. That in itself consumes a lot of RAM as well as CPU time. It's not a good browser to use as it causes lags even in a modern phone like Xperia Z. |

QUOTE(funguss @ Jun 23 2013, 12:21 PM) There is also Daydream (in Settings, Display) which is supposed to work when docked or charging. Daydream I really don understand what's the point of it. Running when phone charging or dock mode.i charge the phone when I want goto sleep. No point the screen running while not in use. Reduce battery lifespan and also screen life span only.I can't get it to work though. |

QUOTE(mafioso @ Jun 23 2013, 01:34 PM) it just acts as a screensaver when you are in charging mode. Yes i think more on screen saver. But my opinion is switch off the screen is the best screen saveri dunno about the rest of the options but i only used clock JB+'s minimal black background with analogue clock. abit pointless really, but i guess its just an eye candy preference? hahaha. |
