You should have ask in this thread and look at the FAQ section my friend https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2696365?author=KyoyagamiAnyway All 3DS/Wii U are Region Lock, Get a Australian 3DS since you're in Australia, its way easier to get your Aus games locally than importing other region games. oh and don't get a DS (unless collecting purpose), the 3DS is backward compatibility with almost all DS games.

If you buy your Wii U and 3DS from Australia, you'll have a hard time once you come back to Malaysia. See, 3DS has cartridge region lock. If you buy in Australia, you will have a hard time sourcing for games once you come back to Malaysia. Australia for some reason gets PAL (Europe) version of 3DS and Wii U while Malaysia gets NTSC-U/C version of 3DS and Wii U. Unless you plan to never ever use a 3DS cartridge in the country ever and get everything though online downloads from Australian eShop (how you top up the eShop credit is another matter which I presume you can settle), or not planning to come back to Malaysia ever, it's probably not a good idea to buy their Wii U or 3DS.
Btw, PAL region also always late when it comes to game releases. So yeah- also unless you're okay with waiting up to 9 months(*1) for a game after it becomes available in Malaysia.
(*1) See the PS3 Persona 4 Arena fallout.
