Depends. Gaim has good pacing and overarching plot, but it didn't let the viewers to love its characters much due to serious tone all the way until the end and only left the characters to develop plot twists, rather than properly develop their nature. Drive is pretty similar to Den-O and W, it lets the characters to develop during the first cour and slowly using them as plot devices to branch the series further with twists and excitement.

Just my 2cents though.
