ShadowSurfer is similar to Deep Freeze and Clean Slate. What it does is create a snapshot of the partition you want to protect and then run the partition in a protected mode. Then whenever you restart your pc it will be back to the way as when the snapshot is taken. This means that anything acquired under protected mode, e.g. spyware, adware, viruses, saved games, documents, bookmarks, movies, pics that you got during protected mode will be gone once you restart.

The software originally cost US29.95 but since they're running a promotion, you can get it totally free with a coupon code.

1) Go to http://www.storagecraft.com/surfer.html then click on the link "Download your free copy"
2) Scroll down the next page and click on "Buy Now". Make sure you only select 1 copy because the coupon is only valid for 1 copy per purchase.
3) Enter coupon code surfer, then complete the relevant details, it'll ask for your details, email and mailing address but you can fake it if you want except for your email address.
4) Make sure you choose "call me" as your payment option.

I've been using this software for a month now and it's very good. What I do is set a system partition and another partition for my progs and other stuff. That way I only protect my system partition and leave the others open. It's very good at preventing my younger siblings from messing up my com. Of course you can't depend on it alone but it's a very good addition for system protection.

Do take note that it does not have a password protection feature so anyone can turn it on or off from the systray icon. It is geared towards the home market, that's why they're offering it for free.

To remove the shadowsurfer wallpaper when in protected mode, just delete the "sunotification" registry entry from HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run using whatever method you know.

I got this through castlecops.com so credits should go to them.

This is already free if you use the coupon. If you want multiple copies with multiple legit keys, then use different emails to get it.

Nope thats only resetting your bios setting to default. Nothing to do with any software you install in windows.

I tried it again and the coupon is still valid. Start all over again using another legit email and make sure you follow the steps. And by the way is it only WaCKy-Angel who couldn't get the activation keys? Can I get some feedback on this.

It depends on how you use the software, in terms of using it at home, I'll totally recommend it, but if you intend to use it in a public facility, I'll recommend you get something with a password unlock feature i.e DeepFreeze.
