anyone oc haswell with 125 bclk instead of 100? with same cpu freq, higher bclk required lower vcore?

4.6G @ 1.376v (bios set 1.36v)... weird, same ram freq & timing required 1.575vdimm to prime for 4.5g stable, however need 1.65vdimm for 4.6g...why huh? hmm.gif

Did you use custom blend test and stress maximum amount of RAM?
*
yes, i use 1344k, 85% of mem used for testing

I think you need to stress at least 95% to get a better repeatability.
*
btw, if stressing with prim95 and restart without bsod, normally is due to insufficient of what voltage?

hmm... many possibilities actually.
could be overheat issues too.
*
the chance of heat issue is small, since my cpu temp. never exceed 80degC under prim95 stressing

sifu2 sekelian. i got this problem. my 4670k stable at 4.4ghz with asrock z87pro3.

Vcore at 1.17v.
Vcache 1.2v.

then i want to change mode to adaptive to get that power saving feature. however everytime i set up adaptive vcore at 1.17v, the voltage always increasing more up to 1.3v while aida64 stress test, IBT, etc.

anyone can show me the right way to do adaptive mode in asrock mobos?
*
use manual mode and enable c-state

off day and nothing to do at home, so I decide to replace the thermal paste in between IHS and HSF from CLU to IC7...at the same time, swap my ram to black slot and checking the ram version hmm.gif

looks like no significant different between CLU and IC7, but one thing that I noticed when I removed the HSF, either my IHS or HSF no flat enough, got a concave as the CLU is not really touch at the center area...

CLU

IC7

btw, my corsair vengeance pro 1866cl9 is rev5.29... and according to the corsair ram ic, they are hynix based ic...any comment?

Try applied thicker layer already? Apply to all the contact areas: chip-IHS, IHS-HSF. Four layers in total.

Hynix should have timings like these:
2133 11-11-11
2400 11-11-11
2400 10-12-12
2666  11-13-13
2933 11-14-14 or 12-14-14
3000 12-14-14
*
nope, in between die and IHS still CLU... I believe temperature will become worse if change to other thermal paste tongue.gif

those timing is 1T or 2T? currently i'm able to run 2133 @ 9-11-10-27, 1T 1.65v

Coolaboratory liquid metal top out other thermal pastes according to the latest benchnark: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/thermal...ml#xtor=RSS-993

Those timing could be either 1T or 2T. Your timing is correct.
Hynix would be:
2133 9-11-10
2400 9-11-10
etc...
*
2400 9-11-10? dont think my ram can do...cant even boot at 2400 cl10 sad.gif
btw, does Hynix ic like high voltage? whats the typical voltage?

Wta, any good mobo <RM700 for mild oc for 4770k to recommend?
currently in mind is Asrock Extreme 4 due to 8 sata port (which i need) and nice layout as well.

Will consider if it cost more than rm700 but not rm900.
also, which AIO/HS will you guys recommend for like 4.5ghz daily use. (<400)(my ninja does not support new platform sad.gif)

I have the 4790k same batch with you. How to check the default VID?

Load optimized in bios. Save n restart
Enter back into bios
See what voltage ure cpu is running.

Nice. Oc. Btw ure cache is 4.3 on screenshot.
Perfect. Asus boards 1.3v above.. Hmm got issues.
*
1.047v vid shown in BIOS... is it lower mean better oc?
VRIN/VCCIN = cpu input voltage on maximus board?

manage to get same 4.5g prime stable with lower vcore, 1.22v (vdroop 1.32v during load), same cpu uncore.

Attached Image

DC 4790k is oc better than my previous 4670k. but frankly, the temperature still not good although with the improved version of TIM... might going to delid soon brows.gif

Just got back my i7-4770k from RMA after last time bricking it for putting 1.9V on the cache voltage lol. This RMA CPU is crap at OCing lol...Tried booting Windows at 4.4GHz@1.28V fail immediately lol...1.2V at 4.0GHz also failed at Prime95 Blend. Regretting for frying my Malaysian made i7...Oh well at least they still RMA for me even though I fried it

average i7 4770k is doing 4.2-4.3g
