more expensive than when note 2 came out, i remember it was Rm1699/rm1599 2 yrs contract.
*
And why are we comparing to NOTE 2? Since RRP are different how does comparing to an old phone even cross your mind for once?

Hi guys, may I know what you guys use to root your phone.

Back in the days Samsung phones uses Super One Click and my HTC Desire uses Revoked.

Are rooting still the same? As in once you root you should have CWM inside and flash ready?

I'm not familiar with the new android since i lost my phone years ago and just picked this up yesterday. Rooting is just anytime now.

Appreciate the help ty.

Sorry bout that should've known. Is there only 1 tool for 1 variant? I'm kind looking for what people most used.

I'm using I9505.

CF-auto root is usable tongue.gif
*
Yeah well as I said, sorry about that. CF Auto root works for UAMD2 mine's UAMDM baseband. You sure it'll work anyway?

wanna check anyone here having the same problem as me?

using 9505 and enabled auto correction for predictive text. problem is when i type too fast, the keyboard lags and will not auto select the word i typed wrongly. instead it will select the current suggested word.

anyone with the same problem?
*
Yup, Samsung KB is bad. I'm using Google Keyboard for now.

So everyone's getting update huh. Not bad. Looks like I need to flash to some ROMs soon then.

but it was alright when i just got my phone. problem only happened after i restarted my phone just now.
*
Really? Was never ok for me, it lags, and when I press space too fast, it puts up suggestion instead of auto correcting what I typed. because on the keyboard my "fingers" are still on some keys not finished typing yet. And space bar will include the suggestion. Suddenly my whole paragraph makes no sense.

Don't know if ppl will raise fanboi pitchfork here but I tried HTC One's ime and it's so far the best. Keys are wide, predictions are very good.

"The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" typed 3 times on different keyboards :
HTC One - 0 error all 3 times
Google Keyboard - 1 error out of 3 times
Samsung Keyboard - 3 error out of 3 times

And I'm saying type fast, not looking at the content and just move thumbs until finishing the sentence then check where is the error. Just my lil testing. smile.gif

You're not the only one..I also encounter this when I'm speed-typing (Wah..sound so poyo laugh.gif)

My previous Desire HD also does lag behind the typing speed..but not as bad as the S4..however..I now adapt to it until I'm able to find an alternative

In which, I've found suggested here - Google Keyboard..will download and give it a go tonight laugh.gif

You'll need to download the apk from xda or something. Playstore doesnt make it avail for many countries including Malaysia, yet.

sad. i actually loved the stock keyboard. the layout was nice. too bad have to source for new keyboard now.
*
Layout is the main problem i find. Besides prediction, the keys just seemed.... too small. Google Keyboard is new and it's not the best out there. But it's Google's own and it's simple and free. I don't wanna spend on keyboards like swiftkey or something because I tried it and didn't like it. How I wish I can have HTC ime.

Isn't the Apps2SD update suppose to free up 2GB of OS space as well?

Or did I read wrongly somewhere?

It is suppose to be Samsung's way to address 16GB variants' complaints about too little internal space available. Which they free up 2GB more and put Apps2SD back.

If not mistaken it merely free up ~80MB of space only.  biggrin.gif

i've got a question. the move apps to sd card.it only move the apps itself to the sd card right?the obb file and those needed files are still in your phone storage? if so, it doesnt help much...as in the files are way larger than the apps itself...
*
obb files should have been in Ext SD card to begin with. Also A2SD wont move the whole app just a portion.

Guys, just wondering. Can I just reset the phone back to stock on s4? Apparently it is on a custom build now. Same business as usual? Factory reset?
*
Flash a stock rom back. Or if you did a Nandroid, just restore that.

Hey guys, any idea when Google map turn by turn navigation will come to Malaysia? Singapore already has this since Nov 2012. Google has also released their navigation app for ios. So iphone users are having better features from Google maps than Android users? Kind of like treating your step son better than your own son huh?
*
http://support.google.com/gmm/bin/answer.p...n&answer=172221

Nope. Maps are pushing the latest interface (the one that they show in I/O) out to all countries, Turn by Turn navigation to third world countries are the least of their concerns. We are able to use the new Maps Beta, but turn by turn navi isn't available yet so it's gonna be pointless.

Thank you for your information. There are some very obscure countries on the list including Kenya, Senegal and Ivory Coast but not Malaysia. They may not even heard of Malaysia. Looks like a long wait.
*
Not surprised if they haven't. But no they've definitely heard of us but among the SEA countries, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore are known better so I guess they'll get theirs long before we'll get ours.

Here's to hope that with the recent acquiring of Waze, Google will combine the 2 or at least improve Waze for navigation purpose.

Really? With Samsung new flagship phone packed with such high end processor I don't expect to see anything like this! Gone through a couple of forums, it appears this is rather an issue than to boot your phone every morning, what a joke. I think it's probably the software issue, will reconsider whether to get it when they will do something about this.
*
Don't like it, don't get it.

TW has it's issue and it's known. TW in SGS4 is a RAM hog. Why many power users still choose to get S4 though, is the SD card slot and the slightly better hardware, since they gonna flash the phone with some ROM, no one would care about stock TW lags.

Also, you could be trying the i9500 variant. In which Octa Exynos is not much of a favour. Something like a test product released by Samsung, no one knows how good it is until months to come. Maybe the problem just emerges earlier.

If you really want to only use stock ROM forever, just get HTC One.

I for one has rooted my i9505 and switched to another launcher, I'm waiting for stable ROMs to flash but right now, even with different launcher, I don't see lags.

QUOTE(valent @ Jun 18 2013, 06:14 PM)
has samsung release for us the latest firmware? the one that you can move app to SD?
*
Released last week. Check auto update if you haven't root.
Baseband MEA.

Guys, is there any big problem with S4 that cause the sudden price drop? Was looking to buy Note 2 for my wife and noticed that can already get S4 if add another RM150 or so.
*
Note 2 is a phablet; it's still worth it for its purpose.

S4 price drops fast because all android phones do, just that Samsung's are usually even faster.

LTE variant clearly is a better choice which is probably why the non-LTE one is much cheaper, the demand is lower now but stocks need to be cleared. RRP from Samsung official is still 2199 but no one cares about it anymore. Ebay has it for 1799 and many local retailers are also selling around that price.

Nothing really happens to S4 no. But it's beaten by its own LTE variant.

Ah thanks a lot for the info  smile.gif . Battery life is quite important for me cause currently my wife is using S2 and sometimes even before she gets back from work the phone already ran out of juice and its my heads that rolled cause my wife will say "why you dont charge for me last night"  doh.gif . At least my old trusty E71 can last 2 days, she rejected the idea of swapping phone with me though  laugh.gif

Good husband. rclxms.gif

Does your wife carry around a bag? Note 2 is good, especially for girls imo.
