Hi all,

This is the very first time I done OC.. It was quiet successful.. Stock is on Pentium D 2.66Ghz, after OC 3.5Ghz.



Tried 3.58Ghz, not stable. Very sad.

Well currently the main thing is, I can't change the vcore on the mainboard. As refers to the photo, vcore max is only 1.3v.

I saw antonio_zth's OC, same procs, diff mobo, 4Ghz Overclock....If my vcore can hit 1.5v.. Anyone can guide me?

1st thing congrats on ur 1st time ocing..
Impressive first time 3.5 rite away..
Thats not really much u can do if u got limited VCore with ur board..
VMod thats the only way.. Else u might need another board..

So u need to find ur highest stable clock with default VCore..
Use prime95 to stress the procs for their stability test..
Able to boot to windows doesnt mean it stable edi..

One more thing bout the prime test.. the correct way to stress dual core procs is run two prime95 app in single time..

Select CPU 0 for first prime app and CPU 1 for second prime app..
Untick "No Affinity"..

Hmm, your are not using Prime95 there right?
Just now I put it on test, but didn't use 2 test at once. Will this cause error?
As It return FATAL ERROR in the torture test. But bechmark is fine and quiet up to standard.

SP2004 is just an interface for Prime95...
extract the file into ur prime95 installation directory..

If u run one prime test only actually u just stress one core..
If u got any error dat mean its unstable although u can pass through some 3d benchie app..

Hmm, no problem I'll try again later tonight, now I'm not at home. If it returns any error messagfe, I'll post up the print screen, let everyone see what problem it is.

Updated news, CPU 0 currently have rounding problem too!!

What to do now?

At last, spend some time OC and calculate it.

3.50Ghz - Fatal Error
3.48Ghz - Fatal Error
3.46Ghz - Fatal Error
3.40Ghz - Fatal Error
3.36Ghz - Prefect!!!

well i think there is 2 factor that affecting ur result...
1) Ur motherboard just use 4pin 12V atx.. Dual core procs will drain ur 12V rails alot.. U need 8pin 12V atx enable to run dual core for full stability.. Furthermore u dun have any VCore adjustment option..
2) Heat.. What is the temp for ur procs during load?... Did u use stock heatsink?..

How to determint 4pin and 8pin 12v atx, is it true power type? I have alot to learn. I have not much choice on Vcore settings, well if the overclock still leads to unstablity, I'll give up speed.

My temp during load is just around 40..42.. I don't think that's high.. I'm using stock fan.. Even now, I'm just browsing net, it is just 33 (opps the pic show 32). Hehe..

what i mean by 8pin 12V atx is, take a look the mobo layout below.. look for a red rectangle..

i believe ur mobo just use 4pin rite?...
this is where ur procs get its power frm..
thats why ur second core got error while first core doesnt in prime test..
both core share the same 12Vrails from one source..
one thing for sure u might need 8pin 12Vatx psu supported as well for that mobo im showing..

40-42 degree load temp for dual core procs using stock heatsink is very odd..
normally it should be 65-70.. dun trust software reading.. touch the heatsink the feel the heat..

Yea, mine is just 4 pin 12v atx...
But my ATX and mainboard just come with 4 pin.. You mean if to make it stable, 8pin on PSU and 8pin on board.. God I didn't know that....

sometime u need to do some extra research b4 buying sumthing...
