Currently the developer install something like this for the valve opening for shower rain as follows The tap with the blue dot in the middle. My questions is: 1. Is it that this type is most likely with piping top and bottom (in the wall)? 2. Is it possible to install something like this (from what I know this type has hot / cold water inlet) I need to prepare myself before I get chopped...

QUOTE(eggplants @ May 30 2013, 11:30 PM) have the issue with you; recently redid my bathroom, and saw this random tap near my new shower set, exact same one as yours. If I had known, would have told contractor to place it at a different location where its not so obvious. Now have to live with this eyesore every time i shower. Shocked when I saw this... LoL!... Anyway, I have a hard time finding this... I think the my house's developer is using NEU series produced by DOE...

QUOTE(weikee @ May 30 2013, 11:56 PM) Stop cock term is use to stop the incoming water to a specified section like the entire toilet. But your is use to switch on the shower? than it should be called water pipe valve. Coz I saw it here: http://www.doe.com.my/products.asp?cat1id=...d=93&cat3id=284N it says stop cock.. lol... I managed to find a few from a website... I juz wonder what the correct size of the inlet? 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch?

QUOTE(weikee @ May 31 2013, 12:04 AM) The two higher "tab" my contractor use the term stop cock. This type better use the conventional rubber to control the valve. The tap are using Ceramic valvel. I see I see... There is another stop cock in my bathroom and it is up high...

This valve destroys the overall aesthetical look of the bathroom... As I can change all the taps, except this... Argh!

QUOTE(eggplants @ May 31 2013, 12:10 AM) what is the difference between stop cock and water pipe valve? sounds like the same thing; used to stop any water from going to the shower. i would also like to find a less ugly and more minimal tap fitting for it if price is decent. Grohe

QUOTE(weikee @ May 31 2013, 12:13 AM) Is actually the same, but when you tell shop about stop cock, they usually give you not so nice looking and rubber valve. The water pipe valve got more design and can can have ceramic valve which only need 1/2 turn to switch off or on. So the best one is ceramic valve?

By the way, does it matter if it is a 1/2 inch or a 3/4 inch?

QUOTE(ozak @ May 31 2013, 09:08 AM) It is the pipe size and the tap, stop cok etc joint size. If you buy the plumping parts, you need to tell them the pipe joint size. For rule of thumb, main inlet till tank is 3/4". While those toilet and kitchen is 1/2". So does it mean that this stop cock in my bathroom (first posting) is 3/4" since it controls the valve for the water tank? I suppose I can remove the stop cock knob cover cap (the one with blue dot in the middle) and replace with a nicer looking cover cap?

QUOTE(ozak @ May 31 2013, 11:28 PM) The water coming to your toilet from the water tank is call outlet. Which mostly is using 1/2" pipe. While from the meter outside to the water tank is 3/4" pipe. The stop cock in your bathroom is to stop the water coming to the toilet tap. Since the pipe is coming from the tank and to your toilet, it is an outlet pipe. And size 1/2". You cannot simply replace the knob. Each brand have it own design. Each brand can replace back it own brand parts. Unless those common parts. Ex. rubber washer. Maybe those expensive type like grohe, kohler etc have an option to change the cover and knob design. But still have to using back it own brand. So you have to hack it out and replace the whole stop cock. I see... So for Malaysia pipe standard is for 1/2" inside e house. Is it that for 1/2" inch, the female thread diameter in all wadever water tap or valve is about 21mm? The reason why I am asking is that I would like to purchase tap fittings from overseas and their standard is G 1/2".
