So if I have alrdy rooted, is it advisable to s-off?
*
if you just want to root, no need to S-OFF.
if you want to flash rom, then S-OFF is more better, because with S-OFF you can directly flash the kernel while flashing rom, and with S-OFF, you can return to locked + s-on status in future for warranty claim purpose.

i just bought a 32gb silver yesterday, never gone thru htcDev to unlock, direct S-OFF, because i can try lot of rom, include the latest android that google going to release for google htc one.

btw, min have the gap issues, should i go claim the warranty? because i afraid will end up getting a refurbish unit later...

Wrong.  With the HTC One, you don't need to S-Off to flash kernel from ROM through recovery.  Unlocked bootloader for the One can do that as well, no fastboot needed.  S-Off advantage for the One is only to get the LOCKED status back.

nice, thank for correcting me.

btw, about the gap issues, what do you all think?

Number 3 is no longer true.  HTC has changed their HBOOT for the One, and unlocking the bootloader gives you the ability to flash kernels through recovery without the need for fastboot.. Said it a couple of times already in this thread.  HTC has even made an announcement on this.  The HTC One's Unlock status acts the same as a Nexus device.

its a good move from htc, but i still prefer S-OFF to write hboot, radio, cid, almost everything of the phone, but non experience user should just stick with S-ON to prevent hard brick to their phone.

Just wanted to ask:

1) To root the phone, do I have to unlock the bootloader?

2) To install custom Roms, do I have to unlock the bootloader>

3) If the bootloader is unlocked, is there a way to relock it to claim warranty, or if once unlocked, kiss the warranty goodbye since there will be no way to get the phone back to stock condition?
*
the best is s-off with renove, because at the end you need to do it if you want to unlock.
if u unlock now, you wan go claim warranty, u need renove.
if u want to sell it you need renove
if something wrong while you flashing the rom, s-off will give you more chance to recover the phone, with access to more internal partition.
so just use renove at start...

i like the 5 inch, 3 button, big battery, micro sd, outlook i feel butterfly is better looking than one.
only downside is the charging port at butterfly is being covered due to waterproof...

haha, It is a good phone, but not being manufactured perfectly. Sent mine on 20th of may for 1 to 1 exchange due to backlight leakage..just now went to the service centre at berjaya times square and scold them cause 1 month still cant get stock for me. They straight email to brightstar and I wait there for brightstar to reply, after get reply only get to know that my phone will arrive at 26th of june. wasted time and money to go there but if I didnt do that, I wonder how long will they take to give me a phone. U probably need to give them a visit a week after u send ur phone just to remind them.
*
can i request them to repair the gap instead of changing another one? because the gap issues just because its not being perfectly stick?
