HTCOne is a great looking device, but lack of the sdcard is a complete letdown.
I am curious as to how "small" is "smaller". From ifixit, the LTE HTCOne, like what we have.

The green boxed chip is the radio for the LTE etc. All around the edges are the ribbon cable connectors.
From the FB China HTCOne pic, it seems ENTIRELY plausible that the sdcard slot is connected via ribbon cable to the board. And they managed to squeeze 2 SIM slots on, with maybe another 2mm thicker. I think that's a wonderful tradeoff over whatever aesthetic pleasures anytime.
I'm just wondering why people swallow the "smaller" radio statement without asking for numbers. I'm not favoring Samsung or anything, I'm even bashing Samsung for their greed. I'm only asking a question as to what does "smaller" mean and why can't everyone get the same specs when the China sets seem assuredly better.
It's not that simple. LTE is not just about the chip. People delving into that matter should know the different kind of amplification it requires for each, and increased amount of antennas required to accomodate the signalling on different frequencies (bands).
LTE shouldn't be seen as solely one chip to put there and "tadaa, there's LTE for ya!". Even iFixit is merely guessing about the antenna placement, without any way for them to distinguish which one's which (mind you, NFC, BT and WiFi requires different antennas too).
To put it into perspective, it's more akin to having both Astro dish and terrestrial UHF antenna connected to your TV to receive broadcast from differing bands. What HTC does for certain market such as China is by eliminating the other one so it can accomodate more space.
