"Next Monday" is their famous quote rclxms.gif

Every customers they just say the same thing. Ie: "we are waiting the device to be shipped from Taiwan Sir"

I've heard this for 2 times in one week.. doh.gif

In conclusion, they memorize a script and repeat to every customers. That is what I think.

Its a good phone but HTC quality check is not that good currently. When you buy your phone. Straight check for some stuff. as listed in first post. at least if there's a problem when u still at the shop, you can exchange it directly. if you take it back and only notice, then you might need to send it to HTC center.

one more thing, for the backlight leaking, you wont see it in normal daylight like the one in the picture. I just noticed it when I close my room light and use the phone. that picture is taken under low light condition with low shutter speed. even the HTC center doesnt believe me until I show them the picture.

I prefer FX file manager cos it comes with a build in text editor that you can use to view some config files without installing more than 1 app.

i think what you mean to say is that there is flickering under fluorescent light? install 3rd party camera app like CameraZoom FX. There is control in the app to overcome flickering

Bound to happen sooner or later as the white area is uncoated plastic. Bad material choice by HTC. They should have use hyperglaze coating like in S4.

This is for replacement. means 1 to 1 exchange. base on lowyat user experience, for 1 to 1 exchange, they made a new phone in taiwan and send it over to replace with the defect phone.

Yes, pretty much 2 weeks needed. I bought the phone 14/5, sent in 15/5, get back 28/5. And oh, I should also add this was after I call and pester them so much they escalated it to the manager.

I would suggest trying the same thing too, just be suitably polite, but sound angry enough.

As always, the vocal minority will always seem like a much larger group than it really is.

Get the black version if this issue bothers you. I'm personally using the white version, and the white plastic is only on the sides and barely visible against the aluminium surfaces which are more obvious. It's a non-issue for me. rclxms.gif

Understand but i am sorry to say you are almost to the point of pissing ppl in this thread off bcos ppl on this thread did their research or not ( ppl like me kena poison) and we also spend our hard earned cash to buy this phone without expecting ppl to spoon feed us/me with information. U asked for opinion and advice we gave so right now u just have to make up ur mind and buy whichever phone u fancy.

Sorry if i sound emo do not have any intention to diss anyone just my two cents apologies if you feel offended.

As one of the people who probably caused a negative perception to the HTC One, I want to say I did it to highlight that, like every other goods and services you may use or purchase, there will always be chances of negative experiences and I wanted to share it out so that people can make better judgements.

Sure, it was disappointing to lose my phone for two weeks right after buying it, but I still got it back in the end. And I still think that HTC One's Sense 5.0 has some seriously non-intuitive UI design choices and silly lack of features, but well... so does every other Android UI skin and even stock Android has its fair share of complaints.

On the other hand, credit does have to be given to HTC for raising the bar on Android phone hardware design and jesus christ, the stereo loudspeakers totally rock.

So in the end, if you're planning to buy or not.... it's always good to make research on other user experiences but that should not be construed as the EXACT experience you will get. Some people (like me) will get unlucky, but you might not be as long as you take the precautions and be an informed buyer.

And, if you still don't like the phone, just resell it off! We have a very vibrant marketplace here in LYN, and there's always other listing sites too.

tl;dr HTC One got good, got bad, in the end up 2 u to choose.

blaze91: there will never be a 10/10 phone. And when you get your ideal phone you still face risk of getting a problematic unit. This does not mean the phone is bad . Just you are unlucky. So buy it from store n check thoroughly before paying for it if you are so paranoid over such.
I have used so many type n brands of smartphones n I have learn to accept such reality. Based on my needs the S4 is a better choice for me n I hate each time when I am asked why not HTC1? The HTC 1 I plan to sell off next month but that does not mean is s a poorer phone vs S4

Also the red and blue might have the same problem as the black, where the colour might chip off at the edges. Silver is not coloured cos that's the colour of the metal tongue.gif

Haha, at least they tell you that now. Before this was "we no stock sir, dunno when it's coming".

After reading you guys discussion and i found out my top of the phone has kinda long stretch of gap too. A4 paper also can slide in. doh.gif
Already texting my reseller if they can do 1:1 replacement. Just bought it last Saturday.

Nephrite, Maybe you can put some recommended apps for HTC One to the 1st page? Some members had recommended some useful apps like the

Notification Toggles and Snapdragon Battery guru biggrin.gif

Guys, when you shoot continuous burst shots and view them...the best shot the phone highlights is the best shot? It's always the first or second image only for me, never the 3rd 4th 5th pic. Then when I press Best Shot, will the phone select whatever highlighted or the best of the bulk automatically?

i heard side yellowish is due to our sweat...well put case on it lessen the issue,

so far, love HTC One, becoz
1) when u call a person, u just wait for it to vibrate a bit coz it show phone connected...no need to put ur phone on ur ears for the first few second
2) the button scheme is something u will get used to especially for menu button but once u get used to it , it will be nice
3) GPS signal lock way better than sgs2
4) camera fast take pic, i mean very fast
5) no lag
6) blink feed is good, after u get used to it, i very seldom use twitter app and facebook app
7) message have skin on its own

Compare my old sgs2:
1)miss the swipe left and right at contact name to call or message, other than tat no issue
2) only 1 button to access phone, risky
3) no menu softkey..
4)volume button a bit hard to reach when u hold ur phone on ur left hand though i right handed
5) hate hate twitter app widget, 4x3......it used to be 4x2
6) when messaging, the stupid auto correct is really kinda stupid, it should accept the word i write and recommend the word, but now it auto correct first and then u need to select the word that u wanted...

I think that's the normal build. The gap on the front pieces on top and bottom is not zero gap. My unit also like that, service center say they don't replace for that 'gap'

Reseller asked me to goto SIS. No one wanna do replacement one, big loss.

The bottom of the phone has no gap though.

I wished didn't read about the gap so i'd feel better. Sigh. So meaning SIS won't entertain me. :S

Install GSAM Battery Monitor. Charge your phone to 100% in the morning and use it normally. At the end of the day or when battery getting low around 10%, open GSAM and take a screenshot. We'll know better smile.gif

Well its depending on your usage the battery is bigger yes but it has to support a Quad core processor, a full HD screen, a kick a$$ stereo speakers and the battery killer 4g data connection if it is available in your area.

I personally find my battery can last more or less since morning 5am unplug till maybe 7pm until the battery is dead and this is with quite heavy usage, emails, some youtube on HQ, music, whatsapp and 4g connection the whole day.

I think HTC one has good battery life. I used waze close to 2 hours daily , night time heavy wifi usage close to 2 hour of video, fb and net browsing. Still have about 30+% at the end of the day before sleep (1am), where I start using at about 9am morning.

The cap here is I use power saver mode, where I don't feel any different in terms of browsing smoothness, still very sleek. flex.gif

Nope, power saver does not control the GPU speed. Real Racing 3 will stutter whether power saver is on or not. Only lags on stock 1.29 cos HTC changed the kernel settings for better battery life. 1.28 plays the game smooth 60fps.

I just got the most imba delivery to my office........

UPS courier come to my office, admin told me I got package. So I go take la. See two huge boxes and the guy ask me to sign. I thought what they send, loyal HTC customer for so long maybe they give me 2 box of free phones or what xD

So I start carrying the box, wtf heavy. About 10kg for both boxes sleep.gif So I read what's on the box. Got my name and my office address, then it also say SiS Distribution. So I like, wth? So I open la to see what the heck is inside.

Open already first box, was like wth? 1 whole box of courier documents, empty and all packed nicely. Courier waybills....

Second box, even bigger than the first. Opened it, 1 whole box of UPS courier envelopes. Wtf?? I straight call HTC, they also like dono how to handle, I ask for Helen they say not in. The guy also like panic, he say call me back later. Still waiting xD

SIS asked me go looking for HTC.

Not sure HTC would ask me go back to SIS again or not.

I still would like to hear what they say about it but the service experience....  hmm.gif

Buy from other user you should get the box as well right? If Brightstar set there will be like a credit card size warranty card in it. Not sure about SiS set, but there should be stickers on the box as well.

Guys,

Been using HTC One black for a week now and it has been a pleasant experience so far. This includes the battery stamina.
I am looking for an app now that could replace switching on the phone other than the phone power button. Any good app tried on HTC One so far?

cheers

I followed SIS instruction calling to HTC support line 1300-800-482. From the conversation, it seems they want to see how many ppl or handsets affected by GAP problem then may take special actions to address this issue.

The support rep wanted my imei to file official ticket. He also said I can send the email directly to HTC for filing my issue.

I work in pc industry so I know if there is high amount of complaint, the manufacturer would take actions such as treat this as real issue. Maybe recall or an official instruction to service partners to fix it or replace it rather than pointing us here and there without proper process of what to be done.

Just some sharing of my experience so far. It's up to those affected to consider filing ticket or not.

i support the idea of making HTC aware of the issue.. may i suggest that we open a thread/name list here in LYN, of names of customers having the gap issue? then we get drag SIS attention to the thread/list..

Actually it seems that HTC itself got a local company here, probably handle the support number, promotion and marketing stuff? Meanwhile SiS is the reseller/distro company. SiS handles not just HTC, but other brands also actually.

Would like to ask, your gap is it on the front side or the back side? Front side I think is normal build so you can't really exchange probably...

Mine is front. No matter what, how come the bottom ok but the top has gap? Both up and down have slight curve so should exhibit the same nature but it seems there is slight and tiny build defect.

But well, this phone is not cheap. 2.2k. So I just choose my way to let them know I'm a little bit not happy although the phone gives great experience in general. I can live with it but they should be aware of it. Dust may go in since A4 paper also can slide in. Would it clog things inside in the long run? I dunno....not expert...

I dun wanna solicit all ppl to be against them. It's ur choice. So beware. I'm not sure creating a thread as suggested may put us in trouble or not....

I have the same view as you.. Tho its a minor issue compare to the great phone as a whole, but i wish to get a perfect unit out of my rm2k hard earned cash. biggrin.gif

I still would like to suggest we open a thread to attract HTC into this issue. Or do a group complain direct to HTC?

Mine is alright now. Google silently pushed an update to my phone. After a reboot, everything works brilliantly.
Just make sure that your Google play store app is updated to to v 4.1.10

Yeah of course you can ask them.... just saying that they might not entertain it. Like I said, I did ask about the gap on my new unit when I took it back on Tuesday, the people there said the front part there got slight gap won't replace unless it's over 0.2mm or something.

I think if you really want to try and exchange it, better just go and walk in to Kelana Jaya like Kurogane did. But since Kurogane already mention unless over 0.2mm they are not going to entertain it, your chances of exchanging it probably small. It's not going to hurt to try though. smile.gif

My phone if use whatsapp and surf net, which most of the time on Wifi (once a while on H mode), seems to drain pretty fast. like 14 hrs.

Waze consumed very much of power so I also seldom use already.

the main problem with the smart phone nowadays i would say is the bad battery life. that's one main thing i will put into consideration when buying phone, and i am really interested in getting the One, that's y the silly question =P
*
No worries but when it comes to battery life hard to gauge man cos everyone's usage differs. Some claim to have 15 hrs batt life but when u see their usage screen on barely 1 hr lols. For me in the office with my 4g connection watching few mins of videos on youtube, whatsapp, checking lyn forums on and off, email sync on can last me from 5am to probably 7pm b4 mati if i do not turn on Power save mode.

Very old article. XDA member has asked HTC about battery replacement, and HTC replied that it should not cost more than $100, and most probably will be less.

Nexus devices were never meant for every day users, and not solely for the "Google Experience". It is a stable hardware platform for a new version of Android that developers can use to create compatible apps.

this is totally BS. my entire family of non nerds are all using Nexus devices and they love it. before that it's HTC wildfire, HTC desire, HTC desire HD, Samsuck S2, iphone 4 / 4s, then Galaxy Nexus, then Nexus 4 and would certainly choose a vanilla android after that also.

the ONE with stock android is certainly an upgrade option if they hadn't bought the Nexus 4, we hated HTC since they ditched the DHD's ICS update, and hated HTC's non-sense, but loved their build quality when we saw the One X, and we all biting our fingers when we touched that gorgeous ONE, too bad it's not stock, now we will wait and see whether we can get our hands on the vanilla ONE

I did not say Nexus devices won't be liked by the masses, I said Nexus devices were made with developers in mind.... Nexus devices like I said provides developers with a stable hardware platform with the very latest versions of Android. A Nexus device usually sets the trend for what SoC will be most used for the following year. Nowhere in my post did I say that a Nexus device would not appeal to mainstream users.

Thank you. I learned a lot from this . Basicly its a rant + review + a bit of history lesson on why HTC is where it is today. The take home for this is that new Generation phones like s4 and HTC One support 5ghz wifi(but router must support also). If you want a good reception phone with strong signals , go for Nokia.

How can this be accidental?
This is purposely done due to bootloader unlock
Download stock RUU n flash back stock ROM. There is a guide how to do it at XDA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618

BTW the boot loader will show relock not locked as default
Once you unlock BL HTC is already aware phone has being unlock. Pointless to relock back

1 - Update your play store to version 4.1.10. Currently 4.1.6.
2- Check your build version under settings in Play Store App.
3- If you don't want to wait, you can use the link above to download the manual update.
4- Once done, Install and check whether the Play Store version is indeed 4.1.10.
5- Reboot and after that it should be fine.

Mine is working fine since I did the fix yesterday. Hope that helps. Do convey your thanks to uncle_toufu. icon_rolleyes.gif

Bad move. Google wants to start to be like Microsoft.

Although clunky, touchwiz has functions and features that appeal to people. HTC Sense in Desire was what started the android story today.

Not to mention the camera software optimizations. And surely, SAMSENG and HTC will not want to promote the google edition.
*
It all depends on what Google wants to optimize for the HTC One. The hardware is HTC's, but Google has to make everything work cos updates come directly from them. So it's in Google's best interest to have as many proper drivers to take advantage of all the hardware. It's also in HTC's best interest cos frankly they need the money. They may not do much marketing on it, but it will still sell.

That means you can’t use one of our favorite features: the Zoe mode on the camera, which can be used to capture quick 3-second clips that can be combined with photos into a 30-second highlight reel (which, by the way, also isn’t on the developer edition). Beats Audio is still supported, though the phone will not display when it’s active in the status bar.

Hi guys, whats the best way to warranty my brighstar maxis HTC One?

I suspect my battery has some problems. I hard resetted the phone last night, only install battery monitoring app.

It drained 5% during deep sleep, no wakelocks. Most of the reports online praises the "amazing" battery life during idle, which only drops 1% for 8-7 hours.

These are the screenshots taken this morning when i woke up. I left idle at 99% battery to see whether can i get the 1% drop during deep sleep or not (my phone line is quite stable, 3-4 bars)

I continued to use my phone as usual, checked my email this morning for 3 minutes. Made a few phone calls here and there. It dropped 8% blink.gif The screen was only on for 10 minutes.

Hmm in my opinion to claim warranty for battery is kind of tough as you will need to convince them it is faulty and trust me that is not easy. As for your usage i have the same usage percentage as well. During sleep i will lose 5-6% if i am not mistaken with Wifi on the whole nite. To me that is normal because that happens on my G note 2 as well.

*
It is gonna be hard. But im very disappointed with the battery life, i only can get 2 hours of screen time max.

Other users on this thread and XDA are getting 3-4 hours.

I was expecting the phone to at least last me a day without any charge

Doesn't seem to matter somehow. I could register my warranty on SiS website, and when I called SiS they had my details tongue.gif Brightstar is a distributor for within Malaysia, but SiS gets the stock from HTC. Brightstar and SiS website also leads to the same phone number to call for warranty.

It's gonna be tough, but use the phone for a few more days to see if it happens again. Better yet, factory reset your phone and see if it was an app issue.

Use betterbatterystats to check your partial n kernel wakelocks to see what is waking phone when idle
SOT 4-5 hours can be achieve easily
I don't think is your battery issue until you have analysed your wakelock

I did not say Nexus devices won't be liked by the masses, I said Nexus devices were made with developers in mind....  Nexus devices like I said provides developers with a stable hardware platform with the very latest versions of Android.  A Nexus device usually sets the trend for what SoC will be most used for the following year.  Nowhere in my post did I say that a Nexus device would not appeal to mainstream users.

QUOTE : HTC recently confirmed to TechnoBuffalo — though it was fairly obvious — that the developer edition won’t offer BlinkFeed, any form of Sense 5 (which means you’ll need to find something else to power that IR blaster), the Zoe snapshots or the live gallery.

Nexus One started the Snapdragon craze, and both Samsung Nexus were really slow in their hardware choices, while the Nexus 4 again became like the Nexus One where their SoC's became the base for future phones. It's important to note that the Nexus S used Samsung's proprietary chips (Hummingbird was a Samsung exclusive for awhile) so that was a failed attempt by Google to provide a proper base as Samsung wouldn't sell the chip to anyone else.

With the Galaxy Nexus, the Omap4460 was barely better than the OMAP4430 used in the S2, Atrix 2 and the Optimus L9. Both Samsung devices have failed to do what the Nexus program was meant to do, come out with good mature and stable hardware for developers to develop their apps for the new OS.

Then the Nexus 4 appeared and Google seems to be on track again with their original intention. New but mature hardware for a new OS. Almost every phone you see in 2013 is a derivation of the S4, now renamed to the Qualcomm Sx00 series.

boy you got it really wrong
samsung will nto proceed if they don get the nod from nexus. and if based on OS, JB runs fine on a dual core phone...
it was all samsung who started the 1ghz core, then dual core and quad core race
nexus follow suit not the other way round, nexus one is based on GS, Gnex followed with dual core after the success of s2, not the design though and nexus 4 is based off LG Optimus G
nexus is never about hardware and will never set the trend, be it soc, speaker, camera and screen... it is all about the software and the nexus experience... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

edit: think i am off topic
back to discussing HTC one biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

YES, this HTC One is indeed I'd say the warmest/hottest phone I have used so far. It is about 3-5 degree higher than say Note 2, S4, Xperia Z for same tasks. You'd feel the warmness more also due to its metallic casing which conducts heat better

Yup, the One is a bit hotter than the HoX when gaming, but it cools down so so fast cos of the metal body. Other phones usually have plastic or glass bodies, and the heat is trapped inside. This makes the outside seem less hot but the insides are all crying to cool down tongue.gif

Dear XYZ123,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Regarding the issue that you mentioned, if your phone still in warranty and no physical damage or liquid damage, it will be free of charge to replace the battery. If out of warranty already, it will cost around RM129 for replacement. It will takes a week for the service.

For the charging problem, we would like to advice you that it is better to unplug after fully charging. We do not advise customer to use the phone while charging because it might cause the phone overheat.

Thank you for your continuous support of our products and services. Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
saja email to HTCSea and see what's their response on the battery replacement for the One tongue.gif

For me i prefer to buy a software stable phone. Cause my ex-phone samsung always give me problem.

HTC original = stable + extra features
Google = stable only

So since both is stable then i will choose a stable + extra features.

wow! so many users here dont like stock android.

i'd though the fact that HTC (and sammy) willing to go with this because there is a market for it...

i like the stock android,

4.2 > 4.1
- webkit optimization
- dalvik optimization
- renderscipt api - which allow Photosphere to stitch multiple photo damn fast
- stock Gesture keyboard can even recognize people name in contact
- many more underlying api improvement

and if that is not all, wait for 4.3:
- OpenGL ES 3.0
- Bluetooth Smart Ready
- Better 2d rendering with re-ordering and merging (https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2780417/+2060#)
- Guest Mode (not confirmed)
- Better camera UI (still not as good as HTC tongue.gif )

if HTC One with pure android = same price Nexus 4... i'd go for HTC One... ya, i m dreaming cool.gif

From my experience to maintain good battery life during idle is to shut off data connection during idle time like sleeping. DSBS is one of the app you can use to make it happen 1% per 8 hours idle.
To have better SOT then you will have to underclock your and make it run about 1.2ghz max.
SOT for gaming , web browsing and reading books are different. You can get 7 hours SOT for reading ebooks , 5 hours of web browsing on wifi and 2 hours for solid 3D gaming.
Some XDA users battery life is just insane and just dont make it as a benchmark because our daily use consist of email , messenger , social networking , browsing , media and music.

Thanks for your input. I will check your points out asap smile.gif

it was Maxis Staff fault, well active 3rd party that maxis sub out..
they so blur that they gave me a broadband sim card for my phone...lol ..luckily I still can call out

then i tested 4g at ttdi but no 4g for me....so call up and they rectify it by telling me go Maxis centre like KLCC, Mid Valley..etc etc to change for free

I am using now the Pantech Vegra 6 ( 5.9 inch display as my main phone ) and has also order the 6.1" display HuaWei Mate ( expect to get it 7 Jun). I can never go back to smaller display phones. It's hard for me to type one-handed on my HTC One but it's such a breeze to do it on my iPhone 5.

Pros and cons I guess. I look at my iPhone 5 now and find the puny screen really small! laugh.gif

Official RRP is RM2299 (32) and RM2499 (64) for SIS set.
AP set will be a bit cheaper.

As of now, by default SIS only give 1 year warranty. However, you can opt for 1 year extension
if you join their SIS Privilege Card.

Hope that helps. thumbup.gif

Edit - Corrected price for 32 GB version.

Totally agree with Uncle Benny here. HTC One is quite amazing and pretty, but I still prefer to use my Galaxy Note more, so much more easier to read things and type long posts on it.

Now if the 5.9in HTC T6 is real, might totally consider upgrading to that over Note III because I love the speakers.

I heard some user mention before this pay around 60-70 to join. Don't know their source though.
But I don't think they officially opened the registration yet. That's why the empty page. However got online registration and you can manually download the form at the page as well.

i find the optimum size for a phone should be around 4.0-5.0 inch screen. with 5.0 screen, the bezel have to be very thin for good ergonomics...

sadly Xperia Z and Galaxy S4 5 inch already little too big for me. Thumb can't reach the end for keyboard when use single hand sweat.gif
Nevertheless, as long as they can maintain compact size like HTC One {especially width. Don't reli bother on thickness) it is fine for me wink.gif

I decided to sell off some unused casing : the Spigen Ultra Thin is original and in sealed condition as decided not to use it at all. The other 2 are used less than 2 weeks. I decided to settle for a HOCO genuine leather flipcase for the phone. See my post at

I sent in mine on 23rd, please call them and push them harder for feedback, I literally gave the person the hairdryer treatment by asking her how does it make sense that there is not even a single bit of status update after I sent in my phone for half a week? It's just DOA claim, either I qualify or not qualify, if not qualify I should get back my set immediately, if qualify tell me when?

I didn't want to sound like a nagger but I was really unsatisfied with the silence of status. So after a day, HTC called me and told me I should get a new set approximately by next Tuesday.

Hi, I still don't quite get the SiS concept. I purchased mine through SenQ, so does that mean I have the Sis Warranty too? And will unlocking bootloader void it?
*
No matter where you buy in Malaysia, if it's Brightstar or SiS set then you have 1 year warranty. SenQ can buy extra years of warranty, but those extra years you send to SenQ instead of SiS (all phones eventually end up at SiS for warranty claims).

Buy from SiS : 1 year warranty, extendable to 2 years with VIP Membership
Buy from Brightstar : 1 year warranty, if bought from Maxis and you purchased Smartphone Protection Plan, will get another 1 year warranty BY MAXIS
Buy from SenQ/Senheng : 1 year warranty (either SiS or Brightstar), extendable to 4 years with membership and a small payment. 2nd year onwards warranty is covered BY SENQ/SENHENG
Buy from telco : Digi and Celcom 1 year only. Maxis has Smartphone Protection Plan (RM31 a month) that will extend your warranty by another year and covers water damage, cracked screen, stolen phones etc etc.

Oh I see, then what about any online registration? I bought mine this morning and I think the seller said there's a online page I would need to fill in or some sort, or that isn't necessary?

SiS has changed their website, so there's no more warranty registration. I called them also and they say the receipt is your warranty now. The warranty registration still exists by itself, but it's no longer linked to the main website and should not be used.

What? Custom ROMs doesn't mean AOSP or CM. It just means a ROM that has been modified somewhat from stock. Viper ROM has a ton of tweaks and under the hood changes, and I very much consider it a custom ROM.

Well the best optimized and most 'stock' custom ROM would be ARHD. basically it's derived from stock, but with optimized drivers and performance. with an option to remove some bloatwares icon_rolleyes.gif

Thank you for your clarification. I was previously using a rooted S2 so I figured that it might be the same with this HTC One, apparently not, I've been checking out the warranty statement and this is the only rule that might interest us (whether unlocking/rooting void warranty or not la), It's like this:

"THIS LIMITED WARRANTY SHALL NOT APPLY IF THE DEFECT WAS CAUSED THROUGH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
g) The defect was caused by the fact that the Product was used with or connected to an accessory not approved or provided by HTC or used in other than its intended use and where it can be shown by HTC that such defect is not the fault of the Product itself. "

Based on this statement in the warranty statement, do you think that unlocking bootloader voids warranty?

They would have to prove that the damage caused was done because it was unlocked. By right if they can't they have to honour their warranty. But like most Malaysian companies, nobody knows the law and they do what they like. We can definitely push for it though and show it to them.

Android doesn't have video call. Samsung uses their own software for video call, nothing to do with Android. Skype and GTalk are your only options for now.

there are few types of custom rom, but basically there are 2 major types:

- custom rom based on stock - this will have all the features of stock rom, most probably minus the bloatwares

- aosp rom and their 'kang' versions - this will give you pure android like nexus line, so no touchwiz, sense, zoe, etc

I think better use it until it fail then go and claim new one. As it is there is little basis for the claim since it still works and nothing malfunction came from it yet.

Since ifixit is having a rather hard time taking this HTC One apart I wonder if they would just go ahead and give you a new one if anything goes wrong inside? but someone mention only RM149 to replace battery out of warranty period.
Think they have special tools to pry in there without damaging the aluminium case?

I am only 5'5" and I am a small build guy. I already find the HTC One ( and S4)  is too small . I am using now the Pantech Vegra 6 ( 5.9 inch display as my main phone ) and has also order the 6.1" display HuaWei Mate ( expect to get it 7 Jun). I can never go back to smaller display phones. I take these phones out only when I go out for my exercise

Samsung is a lot easier to flash than HTC or Sony. Check out Note 1 thread.

Launcher change doesn't need root. What have you been reading?

Note 1 thread is alive but slow. The XDA ROM threads are very much alive though. So many to choose from.

Still, it's at v26 and moving.

The people in Note 1 thread are pretty helpful.

At settings/display you can set font size
Many apps allow you to set font sizes too. Just need to explore their options
Eg my favorite browser boat I can adjust font size up to 200-300% depend on standard font size already chose. Most eBook apps allow to adjust font too. Use friendcaster instead Facebook ad u can increase font size too.

Just look at all the blown speaker reports, most happened during the time they were on 1.28, and in 1.29 the system volume was toned down.

well i seriously dont think the lock and unlock screen sound will blow the speaker away
it is still lower than the notification tone
if it is gonna be blown away, it got nothing to do with the screen sound

do you turn off beats?

i think i found the beats sound on is the culprit there hmm.gif

then if i press jump forward and back to same song, the volume change back to normal level... (with beats on)

not sure la, i playing those heavy metal many bass "boom boom" sound one... unsure.gif with headphone on or off, it still lower down volume after a awhile. hmm.gif

test more again later on. ( next song i try Original sound track like piano only see got lower or not)

the song i play was this.

*
I think they 'should' have... access through prying of the 2 aluminium speaker grills... I would not ever send any of my high end phones to any other handphone shops other than authorized HTC service center though...

Hi folks,

Just received my Draco Design bumper. I will say it looks very nice in person and the side buttons and top button feel nice (will take pics tomorrow)

1 problem though --

The back bumper is not tall enough... due to the curve of the HTC One, it has 0 lay on the table design, and 0 drop protection!

The curve of the phone is taller than the bumper causing the phone to touch any surface it lays on. In short...this case serves no purpose.

Buyer Beware
*
you bought through the website? well i'm aware that bumper casing don't actually give any protection to the phone... Especially when HTC One has a curved back... doh.gif

Depends on your usage, last time using a 32GB SD card, sufficient enough for me.

But this HTC One supports USB OTG, so get a cable and a mini pendrive then can store more stuff

do you store many movies or music? or install many huge space games? if you need the space, Rm200 is worth it. that y i also go for 64gb, since last time phone 16gb internal + 32gb micro SD card i almost fully use it....XD

FYI, the phone come with 10GB already used up out of the box.....

Beats feels like it lowers the volume a bit for certain type of songs, especially rock, instrumental and electronic cos of the EQ settings.

Not quite sure about how much it will drain the battery but will monitor it when I am out and about.
At least now I can leave the wake button well alone. No presses at all using it. rclxms.gif

Those 3 are compulsory n needed. I recommend TWRP as it backup n restore ROM faster than CWM by at least 50%

If you're covered b Maxis protection plan, give them a call. If not, don't touch your phone at all, but it in a bag of rice and leave it for 3 days in a warm dry area.

Damn, i already turn it on and it seem work fine after i use hair dryer but got some condensed water in my lense. Since i really panic, i sent to shop yesterday and they say that they will charge if any damage since it not covered by warranty. I will try your tips after i get back my HO at shop. Hope they not sending to the service center yet since today is sunday. I just found out HO rating 1/10 by ifixit in term of repair.

They would have to prove that the damage caused was done because it was unlocked.  By right if they can't they have to honour their warranty.  But like most Malaysian companies, nobody knows the law and they do what they like.  We can definitely push for it though and show it to them.

SIM card issue is an entirely hardware issue and nothing to do with bootloaders lol. I'm not sure about local law, so I can't say much. But overseas especially in EU and US, they have to prove that the damage was caused by unlocking, if not they have to proceed with warranty procedures.

That's a kernel for the Sprint model. Sprint uses CDMA, so it might not come with the right configs for GSM devices like ours.

My power button is as flat as the top part(housing) now. Just realized it "sunk in" but still functioning... should I send it for warranty?

if it's flat/able to feel it without pushing ur finger in then it's ok... if u have to push your finger to feel.. then better send the phone for warranty. smile.gif
