QUOTE(Pink Spider @ May 29 2013, 02:01 PM) After change my portfolio from 70/30 to 50/50, volatility increased greatly, often RM100+/- up down in a day RM100 +/- a day still considered not that volatile leh. Mine last week alone down 6k. Up until today up 4k. Total still rm2k paper loss. Imagine those multi millionaires, 1% swing can gain/loss RM10k. |

QUOTE(kimyee73 @ Jun 6 2013, 04:35 PM) I'm so happy market is dropping. I'm shorting stocks and options, and have plenty of ammo waiting to jump into equity UT. I hope this is not a short term correction but a bigger one that is long overdue already. Bursa can short meh? If cannot short, big correction is bad for investors. I prefer healthy growth. |

I think we should be aware of the US Fed action. Since they reluctant to introduce another QE, there are chances they will raise the interest rates.
If raise interest rate, those bond spread heavily on US treasury will be hit. But how about asian bonds? we feel bonds are safe for few years already because rates are low. |

QUOTE(gark @ Jun 24 2013, 01:48 PM) EM bond is not a good time to be in right now. The yields have been heavily compressed during the last few years and it is unwinding now. Based on the rise in bond value over the last couple of years, a 20-30% drop is expected. Local bond you think still safe? I think safest for now is money market right? Afraid BNM raise rate then our bond in trouble as wellThe great bond bubble has finally burst... I will consider to pick up some EM bond, if the yield breaches 10%... |

QUOTE(gark @ Jun 26 2013, 10:40 AM) Most GEM countries are at 52 week low, at low valuation. So you were on 100% cash prior yesterday first buy? So u only sell when valuation back to normal or overvalued?Brazil - Street Protest at increased govt spending Russia - Failed bond auction China - Fiscal tightening, cause OPR to shoot up to 12% India - Rupee devaluing & stalled economy ASEAN - Overvaluation - deleveraging More or less bad news, but valuation is compelling. But prepared to hold for some time as it might go down further, this is just the start. For First State GEM Leaders - >30% of the holdings are consumer stocks, high dividend counter, they have been beating the index in and out every single year. Very little exposure to financials & materials. |

I think the issue with china is that, investors lost confidence on their corporate governance. Look at the GDP, it is always 7% and above. By right, chinese stocks should be shooting up more than the rest of the asia markets. But instead, it went down even more.

China dont allow foreigner to buy their A class shares. And most of the chinese company raise fund and eat back investor money. Very corrupt.
But then they know they are the powerhouse, so we dont really know what they are up to. Chinese citizen are getting richer in these past 5 years. But why investors are losing money in the past 5 years? Their corruption stories are alot darker than ours. |

It is wise to switch bond to money market for now? I see the emerging bond market are starting to affect our local bonds.
