Yes guys, listen to Unker gark, "heart must be steady..." thumbup.gif

But beware of over-exposure to any particular asset class/region though; so long as your portfolio is well-built, then u can just ride it thru smile.gif

My equity is mainly in Asia small capital; and 100% in MY bond only.

hmm ... how come ar ??
Profit drop you sale? U suppose to top-up 'buy low sale high' isn't?
Profit drop to - 16% you sale u sure loss, but if you can stay put average down you lose nthg.
*
OK. Just describing a situation. Not in my case.

You profit 16%. You don't sell. It drop to bottom and never recover to the initial level for the next 3 years. Would you rather still average down or you realize your profit and buy back? So will you still say you have nothing to lose? If you put paper gain this way, then yes.

Not necessary have to choose my equity. There is so much other choice.......

Smaller cap companies are usually the first ones to fall during a downturn.... so its higher risk.
*
What fund would you recommend? I'm holding PGSF too. Global fund currently over weighted in Asia market (quote Pink)

Just looking to increase my equity exposure. Currently I am too heavy weighted in bonds and Asia small capital.

Isn't it UT investment is meant for long term ? you would never know when is peak and when is bottom. Heart must be steady not just because of recent slump panic sale already or realize profit. Do you foresee any potential of the fund? If no just realize profit no need to buy back better look into other potential fund.
*
Panic sale? My bad if I sounded like I panic rclxub.gif

It was a sound decision. Realize profit and buy back; or average down.

PFSG also dropped 4% for me. Should I tembak and average down? Hahahaha!

My ever question is to top up on this global fund (average down) or to invest in new fund (Asia big cap) or MY equity.

My target is 36% global funds + 55% Asia Ex-Japan+GEM + 9% REITs

Currently global funds have outperformed thanks to OSK-UOB GEY, now sitting at 36.5%. If top up also should top up Hwang Quantum and AexJ Opportunity lar! biggrin.gif

What would be your suggestion for moderate risk taker like me and planning to increase equity exposure.

MY BOND = 80% total portfolio
Global equity fund = 8% total portfolio
Asia equity = 12% total portfolio

U should diversify your bond fund holding. Hwang Select Bond Fund would be a good choice, given that it's managed to optimise returns from RM perspective, though its a global bond fund.

U should increase your equity weighting lar...at least 1/3 i.e. 66.66% lar

U not a retiree or anywhere close to 40, right? unsure.gif

Nope sad.gif

Choices of equity fund that's worth investing? What's your pick beside this two?

Global Leaders (Global)
Hwang Select Opportunity Fund (MY)

Decent smile.gif

Just looked at its 3-months chart, comparable performance to OSK-UOB Global Equity Yield. Managed to track MSCI World index quite closely.
Eastspring Investments Global Emerging Markets (consider to have a small % on this, very volatile)

Alliance Global Equities (beware of over-exposure to Asia ex-Japan, 64% of this fund is always invested in AexJ)
U might wanna combo AGEF with Eastspring Investments Global Leaders or CIMB-Principal Global Titans to balance out AGEF's AexJ overweight icon_idea.gif

For 70% MY + 30% foreign, u can't go wrong with Hwang Select Opportunity

Hwang Select Asia ex-Japan Quantum
Hwang Select Asia ex-Japan Opportunity

Mix and match yourself icon_rolleyes.gif
*
For first step I should probably invest in a MY fund right? Although having Select Asia Opportunity would be nice, but that would make it overweight in Asia market too.

A rough allocation for beginner/conservative investor:

50% Hwang Select Opportunity
10% EI GEM
15% Hwang Asia Quantum
25% Global fund
*
My initial reason why I never bother investing in MY equity fund is I feel that Asia market has a bigger opportunity for investors. But I reached the stage where I should probably think of diversification.

Locally available global fund, u can't go too far wrong with Alliance Global Equities. But as I've said, its 64% invested in AexJ at all times. U gotta combo it with a more developed market-focused fund like OSK-UOB GEY, EI Global Leaders or RHB Global Fortune.
*
What do you think of this portfolio

AmDynamic Bond
Hwang Select Asia ex Jap Quantum
Pacific Global Star Fund
Hwang Select Opportunity Fund
Hwang Select Asia ex-Japan Opportunity

Maybe I will add EI GEM sometime in the future.
