QUOTE(Unspecified @ Jun 22 2013, 12:01 AM)
Hey everyone, I'm a newbie here. But i did some homework before I ask.

I'm looking for few funds to start with, preferably 2-4 and slowly make my way to more funds holdings and monthly top up depending of my excess income (fresh graduate here biggrin.gif )

1) Can anyone enlighten me with fund selection? For e.g. I'm eye-ing at HSAQF at the moment. It has a high sharpe ratio compared to other Hwang's funds (I understand risk return because i studied finance).
But why the dividend is only paid RM 0.05 in 2012 while other funds(HSBF) have dividend paid almost yearly? Do ppl invest in such funds mostly for capital gain?

2) I'm also looking at AMPRECIOUS METAL and i'm interested in it because i have a long term horizon for gold. But I'm worried that would the price of funds drop to 0? Not too familiar with funds.

3) Any good funds to start off with, preferably stable ones? Just give me a few so i can start researching.

Thankyou!

which fund sector in your mind now ? Btw have you an account in FSM yet? you can get alot info in FSM web page or u can even live chat, email, or even call their CIS to seek for advise. HSAQF is a so call ponzi fund according to this thread follower.

don't look at the dividend in UT, its unlike stock market's dividend. dividend in UT is left hand out right hand in, after each of the distribution the NAV price will drop but your units will increase and then it will equal to your current valuation according to the latest NAV price. Don't too emphasize on the NAV price and distribution you should see the market valuation.

I believe most of the 2013 gain has been wiped by the recent volatility.

Almost, hopefully next quarter may head upward again

Wow! There are 1,397 post in FSM thread. You people are treating FSM like stock market lar....

Unit Trust and and the strategy of asset allocation when done properly is a very boring endeavour and one should hardly need to do any transaction except maybe twice a year.

My take is that choose different funds sitting at Efficient Frontier line and do small quantum DCA regularly. You would gain very good diversification and risk reduction already.

P/S: Leave some moonies for syiok sendiri play at Genting Highlands and derivatives.

Don't look beyond past 1 year, HSAO was a Feeder Fund prior to that, its only recently that HwangIM took over the fund management.

Previously it was known as Hwang Global Opportunities Fund, a global fund. Now it's Asia ex Japan. wink.gif
*
Did you buy HSAO already ?

Not really new, but switch here switch there whenever there is a spike, in the end of the day didn't gain much sweat.gif

New strategy, just maintain it for 1-2 years regardless of market mood, and observe my result doh.gif
