Ya.. Kidsave is good. Just dont do lump sum, unless she says she will not need the money for 5 years, then I will consider lump sum.

Well yes, even if distributions come into play, I still don't quite get the concept behind the range-bound NAV. -__-

hmm.gif i think you have to ask the Investment house for how they set the "range-bound NAV" for that fund...it is their call..

Ya. But I figure balance fund. If one side hit, it won't be that bad I guess.

Past performance not bad too. I know, I know.. past performance not indicator of future performance.

HSIF - 70/30
KidSave - 50/50

The MAIN REASON why I like HSIF - it's not EPF-approved. So, no restriction on foreign investments.

Should not worry about how high the NAV or low the NAV fluctuating. Should have an idea on the region of where the fund is investing and do you think you have confident on the region growth. Your believe on this region need to be back up on how confident of you on US, Europe and China. As those big country kena flu, it will drag down other regions.

If you dont know how the specific region will fair, you will need to believe on the fundamentals and datas from analysis and economist.

Hwang Select Income Fund lower risk than KidSave wink.gif

HSI is 30/70 (inside this 70% bond is another 40% local and 60% asia bond) and kidsave is 50/50....
YES,...HSI should be lower risk than kidsave (according to FSM risk rating-lah)

Thanks! Yes, fair enough. It goes back to the fundamentals, future earnings growth, and also not to look too much into the NAV per se but the total value (units x NAV) of one's holdings.

Ya better than savings yield for sure for mid to long term.

You need to know also your sis is a low, mid or high risk taker and her investment horizon. Since I see she do not even put in FD, I guess she doesnt understand the power of compounding. Maybe she is high risk taker, just dont understand how to grow the money or not her interest.

To be safe, go for balance or fixed income with some equities weighting like Pink said HSI.

My wife invest in Kidsave for less than 2 years I think, when she go to the bank and print out the statement, it shows like 20++% ROI. She is so happy. But I told her pass 2 years market was good, so when correction she needs to be able to handle it as it may drop 10-20% a year. If didnt pre inform her, maybe she cannot sleep and ask me does she needs to sell off.. tongue.gif
