Hi,

Are you hosting it on your own server? Or on a separate free webhost?
Then you might want to take a look at http://e107.org/news.php for an excellent free open source CMS system. They have an integrated forum with a host of other easy-to-install plugins. An alternative would be to head to http://www.simplemachines.org/ for another good and reliable free forum software.

If you just want a forum service, I would recommend http://forumer.com. They offer both phpBB and IPB (take your pick) boards. Some of the features that caught my eye were:
UNLIMITED STORAGE
UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH
AD REMOVAL <--- you need to be active on their support forums though.
FREE SUPERCOOL SUBDOMAINS:
myforum.forumer.com <-- great subdomain
myforum.999.org
myforum.tt.cx
myforum.x.am
If you don't have a particular preference, IPB would be a better choice as it has a good modifications support for customized templates and features.

Looking for an excellent webhost with bannerless/ad-less services?
I recommend http://110mb.com. They offer 2000 MB space and 100 000 MB monthly bandwidth along with a host of other features you can't find in free, bannerless webhosters.

If you would like to support me, please head to the 110mb homepage through this referral link: http://www.110mb.com/aff.php?un=jalenoes.
Bear in mind, this does NOT generate me any income. Just that I get a chance of displaying my homepage link on 110mb.com's homepage if I refer a lot of users to sign up. I am not forcing anyone to do it, so don't click if you don't want to.

Cheers.

P.s: Mods please correct my post if it violates any of the rules. I'm not sure what constitutes advertising.

thank you very much for the info. I'm hosting it on my own server =)
I notice LYN is using IPB... but do they integrate it with a CMS ? or are they actually using CMS |?? e.g. title of recent post & replies are shown in the main page.. i hope to have both in one actually.... like the mainpage showing articles... then link to the forum...

Divshare

File Size Limit = 200MB

Features:

* Upload unlimited files
* Serve unlimited downloads
* Files stay online forever!

* Incredibly fast, reliable servers

More great stuff:

* Share your stuff in DivShare Groups NEW!
* Keep your files private

I think this is the best Free File Hosting since the file cant expire...

110mb.com registration opening again by June 13th-15th. Previously registration was closed due to problems on box9. New registrations will be on a new server (box10).

For features from the FREE plan, take a look here: http://www.110mb.com/plans.php

Do take note that for new registrations, they are limiting mySQL queries to 1000 queries only. You have to upgrade to continue using the mySQL database. This isn't a big problem if you are not going to use the DB.

QUOTE
All new members joining 110mb from 11th June 07 onwards get MySQL limited to 1000 queries. Then must upgrade if want to get unlimited MySQL.

A limitation of 1000 MySQL queries is enough to post several dozen articles or threads on your forum. After that, MySQL on your account will lock.

And if you wish to continue using MySQL, you'll need to upgrade (inside Control Panel) for a small 1-time fee.

If you don't upgrade, any script that uses MySQL databases will be rendered useless.

Edit: Registration opening 20th June due to late delivery of new server. (According to their admin)

thank you for posting this, so many choices but i can't seem to decide which one to choose. can you guys recommend me? I'm thinking a msg board simple to create, less downtime and plan to use it for a short time <2 month. Also i don't mind users don't have to register to post (anonymously) if that possible. Thx in advance!
