hope i dun get reported for this OT post... but figured you guys would be the right people to ask... I'm kinda disappointed with the 'newer' Yoobao powerbanks. They used to be good but the latest one I bought (Long March due to its 2A port) gave me a scary experience. Are you guys using any other brands besides YooBao? I see many brands on Groupon but skeptical. We're talking about battery packs here... Dun need one to explode in my face or while charging. So, prefer something really good. Ideally with 2A as it can take forever to charge with a 1A...

QUOTE(greyshadow @ May 30 2013, 02:47 PM) you sure your Yoobao is the authentic one? there's lots of fake yoobao out there ya, i also worry... coz i know Long March is a popular model for pirates. the LYN seller seems to think and say its genuine though. anyway, waiting for a reply. worst case, i really no choice, then crack open and see what is inside. and maybe make a big fuss. but hope dun come to that. but seriously... with Note 2... what other powerbank is being used by others. any reliable one with 2A port? i'm just curious... or everyone going with that ZeroLemon battery 2-3 posts above this post? 9000+mAh... my goodness... Takes probably like a few hours to full charge?!?

just wanna rant a bit... stupid reader hub. some how... the new version disabled the ability to add/ read my own ebooks.
recall it used to allow me to add my own ePub books... today, wanted to add another book and I can't find the option... cr4p. lucky for me... Google Play Book is enabled on my phone. so, gonna just start using that instead.

QUOTE(joytest @ Jun 5 2013, 03:53 PM) Why not use other readers? Aldiko, Moon and others... Blocking means DRM in action. last time, i'm sure Reader Hub had the function to add my own ePub book. i added 1 before and it's still there. today, could not find the option to add another book. earlier on, since Reader Hub came bundled and allow me to add my own books, so, i didn't bother to try others. anyway, i'll stick to Google Book. quite good too...

i recall the stock weather widget can also display a little icon on my contact's birthday. but somehow, it's no longer there...
anyone knows if this function is still there...?
sometimes, this is the pain with Android and Samsung. like Reader Hub thingy i shared yesterday... suddenly a function can be removed... for Reader Hub, I can't seem to add my own ePub books anymore... *sigh*

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jun 5 2013, 10:40 PM) Tried to update Asphalt 7 since yesterday but been getting this error. What could be the reason? Any solution besides uninstalling and reinstalling again? read the reviews... many also have this... so i just wait and see how. but this Sat... if not fixed... i'll be near a place with Unifi. then maybe might just uninstall and reinstall. on a side note... i'm getting the ANKER powerbank. found someone who can help me bring back one unit from USA. hopefully it's good...

QUOTE(joytest @ Jun 6 2013, 10:46 AM) It's not just Samsung. This is typically the problem called vendor lock in. Once I was a junkie for a particular platform. Then one day I thought let me try and use a different program to read my file.....omg I couldn't despite converting... So since that day I look for portability as the main criterion for my stuff. That is why I use handynote instead of s-note and other non-vendor specific apps for the stuff I need to do. ya, that's why i worry about those extra functions that comes with Note 2... the notes... if export to image, becomes useless... then there's the add notes to photos... front and back... i wonder if its a new standard for images (as in just add into metafile data) or proprietary... ya, i guess i need to sort out what i should be using... handynote... hmmm... previously, i was using NoteEverything... very comprehensive. eBook reader. wow... moon reader has changed a lot since the last time i used it. but too bad it's kinda expensive if i wanna go pro. i dun mind paying usd1, if they have such sale... hahaha...

i can't remember... but there was a good reason why i din quite like the stock keyboard. maybe the punctuation where hard to type/ swipe...
i know i was frustrated and tried Swype beta (quite bad compared to the Swype that came with Note 1) and now using SwiftKey.
anyway, i guess i might just go back and check it out again.

QUOTE(nehalem176 @ Jun 6 2013, 11:54 AM) Soon your service will be lifetime. My account already upgrade to lifetime. Guess priority upgrade to lifetime to whom donated before. My number not from iphone. nice... if its really confirmed to be lifetime soon for all. i like that whatsapp has got a well thought out backup... but what really sucks is the emoticons. i love in-your-face kinda emoticon/ stickers... like those in LINE. but line... their backup really sucks. one chat at a time. if you have like 20 chats, it can be a pain doing backup/ restore.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jun 6 2013, 02:21 PM) Thanks for that. I was reading the review on the first page and everyone was happy with the update. I thought I was alone. OK, I will try to reinstall again tonight. i think by default, the reviews on Google Play is set to display the helpful ones (those with +1). they may not be the latest. so normally, i make sure i check the latest ones... whatsapp @ usd0.99... but per year. my only issue is that it's a one-off payment for IOS but other platforms, its usd0.99 per yet. i dun like discrimination. but if they set usd0.99 one-off payment for android as well, then i'm more than happy to pay. but i read somewhere... Whatsapp makes more money from Android (is it any wonder since they charge annually?!?)... so dunno if they really wanna give out free for life...

QUOTE(alexng2208 @ Jun 7 2013, 11:33 AM) its 225? whoa... anyways, i saw some apple store selling this baby: http://www.lepow.hk/en/stone/ustone.htmlmy dream powerbank... large, quality, texture WHOA winwinwin more than RM300 IIRC, a work of art compared to the ugly ducking that samsung builds. they use LiPO batteries too, the exact same ones used in nasa (i dunno, just marketing talk) i'll probably be getting my ANKER E4 powerbank sometime next month... Will do a review of it when i get it... see: http://www.ianker.com/product/79AN13K-BA and: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BQ5KHJ...ASIN=B00BQ5KHJWUSD47.

QUOTE(andrewtho @ Jun 10 2013, 12:13 PM) Anyway, *leaked prototype of the Note 3* » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Looks like Note to me. Bigger Sourceyikes, as it is... kinda hard to press the home button. anything smaller, will only make it worse. else, do away with h/w button lor... but honestly, they should just remove the space at the top where the word SAMSUNG is printed. waste of space... wanna print SAMSUNG, print la at the back.

QUOTE(sacremento @ Jun 17 2013, 02:19 AM) I guess it is ok to say it is not worth it for note 2 users to get s4. The next big thing for note users is the note 3. But it's also depends on what it has to offer. Hopefully something unexpected. to be honest... i dun think Samsung can spin any more surprises for Note series... i dunno what else they can do that will beat Note 2. most of what we see on s4 (hovering preview, etc) can already be done on Note 2 with the pen. processor wise, its not really 8-cores running on s4. it's still like what we have -- 4 cores running at any one time. i am actually hoping that we'll get the dual camera recording function on Note 2 but thinking about Note 3... the more i feel that we won't get it. otherwise, people will just buy note 2 (considering what i mentioned above), which will also be cheaper by the time note 3 is launched. maybe we'll see dual camera recording.... 2-3 months after note 3 launch.

QUOTE(alexng2208 @ Jun 17 2013, 11:15 AM) they could surprise us with: 1. surprise intel proc to me. mydragoon: phone's gotta have one. the only surprise i get is when they say they dun need one on a smartphone.2. surprise new amoled screen tech with unbreakable screen, aka Gorilla Glass 4 mydragoon: not really a surprise. i mean, we have GG. GG4 or whatever is like joytest said... incremental and nothing really 'new'.3. surprise new polycarbonate / aluminium / adamantium / titanium / carbon fibre build mydragoon: if go alum... it's not surprise for me. it's a stepbackwards. but ya, rumours did say of non-replaceable battery in s5. but again... this is nothing 'ground break and new'. 4. surprise tech in camera mydragoon: unless they say can take x-ray... otherwise, what else is new abt camera? more MP?5. surprise tech in Spen, called the Note Pen mydragoon: errr... got real difference?!?6. surprise android 4.3 / 5.0 mydragoon: i'd be surprised if we dun get that...7. surprise accessories (please samsung dewa, give us wireless charging, docks) mydragoon: we dun have wireless charging yet? but we can easily just get some accessories, no?8. with the above, are you still surprised? mydragoon: nope... as joytest put it... those are incremental and more an evolution rather than revolution. i'm just wondering what other innovation can Samsung put into Note that makes it a 'Note'. and as joytest said... maybe for Note... it's reached the top and maybe no more surprises?

QUOTE(tech_frix @ Jun 17 2013, 03:08 PM) how to update firmware safely..? noob here.. kies should not have bricked your phone, but seeing how buggy that piece of cr4p is... i'm not surprised. anyway, if you're not one of those impatient type, just wait a few days... you'll then get prompted on your phone -- i think this is provided you have registered for samsung account on the phone. QUOTE(joytest @ Jun 17 2013, 05:07 PM) Stability improvements and fixes. isn't that always the case? lolz... same thing you see on most apps when they have new version.
