Guys, is the screen suppose to light up every time when you get a SMS? If yes, anyway to disable it?

It's quite distracting not to mention redundant since you already got LED indicator.

You could spend a little time in the Settings section of the device. Enlightening exercise.

Settings > Motion > Smart Alert ?

I turn off all these things from day 1 and I typically forget about it.

Rest assured checking through the settings is what I did in the first place. That setting in my phone wasn't ticked at all. Looked through the SMS settings as well. Unless I miss something, there's no obvious way to disable it from what I've seen.

QUOTE(PeeEl @ May 27 2013, 02:48 PM)
It is actually not redundant. It comes on for a few seconds. The reason for that I believe is for those who have set pop ups to see who messaged and have a quick glimpse of the incoming messages.
*
It wastes battery for those who don't need it and the function isn't practical for most real-life situations. Let me give a personal example. With the phone in my pants, I hardly reached for the phone immediately every time I get a SMS. Even if I do, by the time my hands reach in my pocket, took out the phone, (open the flip for some of you), bring it up to eye level, , the screen would have turn off by then.

AudioOut_2 forms the bulk of my wakelock too.

I have been getting about 6 hours+ screen on time until the battery reached 5%. Can't seem to breach 7 hours.
Bluetooth, GPS, 3G all off. Mainly use for messaging, web browsing and some gaming. Battery dropped about 3% overnight in sleep mode.

Anyone here manage to get better screen on time with stock battery?

Not only the size but the additional weight from the zerolemon will be unbearable.  shakehead.gif
Phone is always like that lo. Or just do what joytest said and give it to someone and assume its charity.  smile.gif
AudioOut_2 are not real wakelocks and incorrectly reported since 4.1.2
*
Huh that's interesting. Well next on the list is ConnectivityService. Mobile data is always disabled so not sure why the constant wakelocks.

I can't seem to get Maps to detect my location using wifi only (without turning on GPS). It used to work very well and much quickly than securing a location via GPS. Now I keep getting the "location temporarily not available" error message. Any ideas why?

Why is it waking up? Are you playing a lot of movies?

Anyway, one of the better SOTs I've ever gotten despite the use of MyPhoneExplorer in Wifi mode for 14hrs

Note: I was also charging from powerbank which only showed 800 or 900 mAh despite being rated at 1.5A. This is the Yoobao transformer like 13k set. It's letting me perform about 2.5 full charges. Either I got a low quality unit or power conversion is bad.

So ((Xa))0102 you may be on to something here, per your last post about charging between 0.7A and 1.2A

I may be confused here but isn't 4 hours+ screen on time is rather poor? hmm.gif

Here's mine. Strictly wifi usage but still think it's quite poor.

Master nehalem176 any further advice?
Good ones, I probably still have some app that I haven't greenified or frozen. Probably the monitoring apps themselves are the culprit.

Haha that's was what I thought until I see others getting 8 hours SOT in other forum. shocking.gif

We even have a user here who claimed to have gotten 10 hours SOT (https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2646359&view=findpost&p=57278112)

IMHO, this user might be able to break the 11h SOT barrier by using the stock browser instead of Chrome to surf the web on WiFi and turned his GPS and music off.
*
Hmmm maybe I should make the transition to Chrome as well? Currently using the latest Opera Mobile. Kinda buggy.

QUOTE(joytest @ Jun 12 2013, 05:32 PM)
Actually waveweaver is a regular here in LYN and he uses his stuff mainly for ebook reading on wifi, so he does get very long SOT. Good dig of the old threads smile.gif

If you see post 11, there are other battery life records as well. I will post your 6+ hrs up shortly.
*
Wow! I didn't even realised we have that until you pointed that out. There's even someone with 11 hours SOT! This is getting ridiculous.

Don't know if you guys agree with these choices:

10 Apps all new Android owners should have

Ironically, I didn't even use one of the 10 apps listed.

I bought my note 2 weeks ago and i just feel the power button is a little loose when pressing but still working fine. Is that normal?
*
It's slightly wobbly on mine as well as on the volume buttons. The back cover on my phone creaks when you press on it. Crazy loud if you do it around the speaker grill. Frankly, built quality isn't this phone strong suit which is surprisingly given the price range. Even my old Nokia is built better.

Okay, will try to compare with my fren later. I got mine for rm1550 sme set =)
*
That's awfully cheap. It's still selling at RM1999 at those Samsung or senheng retail stores last I checked.

So far I have only seen the following:

Red : Charging mode
Green: Battery full
Blue (more like light purple): Messages notification

It seems that there's a new update for malaysian firmware xxdmf2 but still not 4.2.2.

You may be on to something here. Normally when I checked my update firmware option, it said that I already have the latest updates but just now, see this
