Twinhead has two unique features : spill-resistant keyboard & drop-proof

few years back i was considering this brand too but there were complaints about its loose hinges after using for some time.
i'm not sure about its improvement in recent years coz i'm more aware of those major brands

I think Twinhead's hey-days are over... Seems to be losing market penetration for years.... it was pretty hot some time back... hardly see an ad for Twinhead nowadays really.

my advise not to buy twinhead.cause the warranty only cover u 1 year international warranty and not 3 year warranty as the sales person told u.and the dint come with optional that can upgrade warranty to 3 year.after 1 year u will know the cost for u to repair the notebook

Hoho! I just bought Dell Inspiron 6400, and suddenly my mom have the urge to get one too.

At first decided to try other brandsas well...and it came up that twinhead 12D suits my mom's preferences. Hmm, somehow after seeing thru this thread Im starting to have second thoughts.

Haha....whats worse, this thread is being filled with DELL owners....kekeke!

Let see now, maybe I should go and have a look at Fujitsu then...

Been using twinhead 121D for 3 1/2 years now. No problem whatsoever. last march send for repair since my laptop always shut-down after 1 minit thay charge me nothing since it still under waranty. Even after i open my notebook. Service ok. The problem lies in fan (never clean it before) and RAM (kingston) but when take out the RAM, no problem, they even screw back and oil my laptop.

Well, it all depends on luck. Nothing is 100% ok.

Well, i think their limited warranty for 2 &3 years is a gimmick. They charge you for the spares and free labour. Do you believe it? They might have charge the labour into the parts already. They can state that their warranty only valid for one year only!

As oppose to Fujitsu at least they are fair they charge free for parts and charge you the labour only.

I bought a Twinhead 121DL (12.1" screen, 1.75kg and Centrino 1.6) last year. Very minimal use. Sometimes 1 week also never use.

So far, changed 1 motherboard under warranty (refused to boot, no POST), and now in the workshop again for much the same thing. At first, suspect the RAM module loose, but still cannot solve. Now re-format HDD, and dunno what else.

But I must say, ABEC service so far is quite good. Since my latest problem started before end of warranty and continued after end of warranty, I hope they don't charge me anything. If they do, my perception is going to go down.....

Would I buy another? Probably not, but I like the price and the weight. So poor man have no choice.

Me is using the model as u wanted to buy now. is already 1 year old, so far the problem is wifi and change it before the warranty. so far so good now. But at this price range what i can tell is cant get any other brand with this hardware spec and weight. So is depending on your budget and your luck. Is only my opinion no offence to other?

I'm using a Twinhead model 12K thats using an AMD Sempron 2600+ and its the ultra portable type as you can see from the pics. It weights around 2kg, has 512MB RAM and a 40GB HDD with a Combo drive. Cost me around RM3K when I bought it.

user posted image
user posted image

Been using for 2 years+ now so far no problem what so ever. The battery still last around 2 hours. All the keys on the keyboard still works. No hinges problem. LCD still working fine, no dead pixel.

Basically the only complain is the plastic quality. As you can see from the pictures below, the metallic sort of shine will discolor after some heavy use.

user posted image

FYI I'm a flash and web system developer, so its always running flash + photoshop with IIS + SQL2K. And it has NEVER hang or crashed due to heating or any other problems.

My advice to you is this: If you have the money, get a better brand eg. Fujitsu, Dell, Acer or IBM etc. But if you are cash strapped as me, then a Twinhead might just suit the budget you are aiming for.

Good luck on your notebook purchase.

I bought it in a shop at the IT Center at Sunway Pyramid and so happened my ex-colleague was working there. I forgot the name of the shop, but if you want, I can get the name from the receipt at home.

Too bad my friend is no more working there, if not can probably get some discount for you.

I am using Twinhead efio12! bought it in May last year. So far so good. It's light and small, not bulky at all. Nothing wrong with my soundcard port, no loose hinges or whatsoever. It's fast, rarely lags unless kena virus loh. Yes its speakers are quite lame, so are the speakers of all the laptops. Battery, a little problem. I juz realized its battery life reduced from 4 hours to 2 hours and a half, dunno why, juz suddenly became so.

My Twinhead 512mb ram efio12! is faster than my friend's 1Gb RAM Dell Inspiron 6400. No kidding. 1 year of international warranty and 3 years of local warranty are included in the original price. No need to pay extra to extend the warranty.
I accidentaly poured water on the keyboard last time and got the keyboard disfunction. Coz it's still under warranty, I sent it in to the Twinhead shop and paid rm30 for the sending fee (according to the guy). I got my laptop back after 5 days and its as good as before. They checked the operating system for me too.

About the Twinhead branches, can be found at lowyat plaza and imbi plaza.
Twinhead, most important thing is ... CHEAP.

bought a twinhead 12D last week at lowyat plaza. upgrade to 1gb ram total price is RM3200 + 160 processing fee for easy payment.
although the spec is quite old, pentium m 1.75ghz but it's fast enough for on the road usage. battery life also not bad, at aprox 4hrs with wifi on.
temperature is 45celcius on idle. at 1.7 - 1.8kg, it's very light. most important for me, IT'S WHITE!

EDIT: the screen is very bright under flourescent light.

so if u think they juz "luan luan" charge, lets boycott this shop. icon_rolleyes.gif
coz they let me test with their laptop for long long time, so i buy frm them lor... other shop can't test or no such laptop... pre-sales services no good.

Hey bro, that is one of the laptops that i may plan to get when i sell off my current one (most likely afteR CNY, a bit short on $$ now! laugh.gif)... How is it doing so far?

I saw one on display at the AOne Plus shop in Digital Mall and it is a small, white PC that is very light if the battery is not attached...

no problem at all, nice and cute. temperature of HDD around 41degrees when running heavily and 36 degrees at night. CPU is running at 44 degrees currently. consider very nice temperate range. i didn off my laptop overnight and it doesn hang the next morning, unlike what other notebooks users say it will hang.

battery can last 4 hours initially, but of course this capacoty will fall later on.dont demand too much for the price. the replacement batery is rm 500. Ok la..for 4.4Ah battery. Sony's 7.8Ah battery cost rm 1500....capacity double, but price tripled..hahahahah

not much complaints, just cannot get used to it.3USB 2.0 really not enough for me coz last time my desktop got 7 USB's..alot usb stuffs to connect.

bought it for rm 2599 with credit card and easy installment, no extra charges at all.

just get the 1 suits your application...more powerful machine doesn mean better or what if you dont use them.and what can be run on powerful machine can be run on less powerful machine.just slower abit.no problem at all.further more powerful machine will consume more power, although they say itsaves energy..that is comparing to 2 single core consumption la.

I bought Twinhead J13S. The product is cheap but its environment is expensive. Requires a cooling pad always and air condiitioned room. Without these things system hangs after 5 mins. Without aircon keyboard hangs after 1 hour. Any solutions to work on these cute gadget without aircon?

Hmmm... I'm also looking at the J13S model. It looked sleek and solid to me. The one I was looking at came with 2.0GHz processor and 2GB RAM (but no OS). You guys think this notebook is worth buying for RM3399? My iBook is in need for replacement.

What about the heat build-up problem? Hinges problem? LCD screen problem? Guys, please let me know if I should buy this? Any known problem with this model or not?

I owned Twinhead J13S too, but i didn't put any cooler pad. My house didn't equipped with air-con, it is true that J13S produce some heat at its bottom. So far, it never hang and the keyboard oso functioning fine all the way. Even i on it overnight for downloading stuff from internet. Usually, i'll on it for 2~3 days non-stop. It still working smoothly.

My opinion:
I think u should send your product to Service Centre for service. U may encourtered OS or some installed software problem.

I did installed games (PES2008 and C&C3), its performance quite ok. I did playing C&C3 more than 3 hours, it didn't occurred hang. Average, i quite satisfy with it.

My opinion:
I agreed with u. J13S is not gaming. But, it can considered as a fair laptop with their price.

To me, not really a good laptop if were to compared with other brand. Hard to find people service it.
Think twice before you purchase it. Just my 5 cents.

I brought my Twinhead SL14P, the cheapest that I could afford at that time, first week of January 2007 for RM1,900.

Now after 15 months, only once I visit Abec Tech to get replacement for my power cord. (not the adapter, mind you)
I am truly satisfied with my laptop. Never use cooling pad and never hang on me.

Once my colleague drop a small whiteboard and the corner hit my opened laptop. (I still didn't forgive her)
That cause one button to fly off and broken. I can still push it without the button but of course it looks a bit cacat.
Anyway I relieved that's the only effect after such a great impact.

I use my laptop everyday, 9-6 at the office and 9-12 at night. Sometimes I left overnight to download P2P files.
It manages to get all this without problems. So what can I say? Maybe I'm lucky but hopefully it does last.

TwinHead J13Se specs are :

Weight only 1.65 kg
3 x USB 2.0 Ports, VGA Port,
Firewire 1394 Port
Bluetooth
1.3mp Integrated Web Camera
FreeDos

RM 2,899
With these size, spec, & price....really cheap dou lao sai....i checked asus currently no 13.3. IMO, nec processor low at tis size n price. fujitsu 13.3, 3k is low amd ( I wan C2D ). toshiba 13.3? 4k++ -.-

Im quite keen about tis one. since T7300 is the lowest with 4mb vs T7100 2mb cache Rm 2,799
http://www.asashi.com.my/webshaper/store/v...t.asp?catID=166

Ive read all the TH user reviews, surely bad feedback, users r as keen to post , there r handful of positive review users as well so I reckon if the warranty does cover across 3 yrs....its equally safe as other budgeted brand i wud say. since common hardware problem arose in 2006/07 i assume (i know i can b wrong) tht thgs shud be better ard tis yr but wht can do if wan spec n budget constraint

my only hope is to squeeze 3yrs out of them

current owner pls feedback good or bad. thnks

PS/ Is all T7n00/8100/9n00 runs santa rosa? or it cud be predecessor to SR platform, the Napa platform? If only tis TH J13 got SR platform, then is quite an edge over many other brand T7n00.

Added on May 4, 2008, 1:13 amregarding users pessimistic fedback on its gaming capability.... i dono but even my solo core can run dota, cabalsea easily while heavy multitasking. so i dun see why C2d cant.

so if not the latest game, C2D really can handle de la.....wich mean J13 shud handle well. so i dun see wht they mean by its not a 'good gaming notebook' ( i refering to casual gaming like me. mmorpg shud run on low spec if not many cant play, defeat their profit purpose). crysis sort of hardkor gamer sure hv the $ to afford pro gaming laptop

cmon la...gaming nb not neessary must got asus stamped on it. unless its ram insufficient eg 1gb on vista. especially SR platform will change to single core operation exceeding its current Clkspd by turning low on 2nd core or sthg lik tht forget the proper name n mechanism. pls wiki SR platform so gaming is completely no problm unless hi end GC requirement wich i bet mmrpg do not req. btw, i dun do Crysis duh....

so tell me J13 is not a good gaming notbook? hello~ if the statement is true, then all mid spec brand out der cannot game too...bcuz SR platform i sure beat the others in tis dept....additionally, without hi grade GPU, there r not many games casual gamer like me will be missing

Added on January 29, 2008, 11:07 am
I did installed games (PES2008 and C&C3), its performance quite ok. I did playing C&C3 more than 3 hours, it didn't occurred hang. Average, i quite satisfy with it.

My opinion:
I agreed with u. J13S is not gaming. But, it can considered as a fair laptop with their price.
*
Hi, I'm new here. (I bought it a week ago) Before I bought this laptop, i checked it for a while J13S from the seller. I tested it around, it was light weight and it is like everything u needed pack into one. So, i bought it because of convenience for my work.
Until now, I don't have a problem with it, oh ya, i bought it without vista, with 2GB ram, works pretty fast and stable. It didn't need any air-con room to cool it down, since it does not generate much heat, the truth.

I installed winXP into it. The drivers are provided at it site laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif , anti-VISTA!

The service from the web are quite good to.

To Jasonwoon: I really think u should take it up for service, or call them to replace another one. U know their website and their service location right?

Damascus2008 - I am also thinking of getting this Twinhead J13S laptop as I think it's the best deal for the specs in the market for the price. I'm just worried about the quality.

So, my question is...how is it since you've been using it for about a month now. What about the heat & the battery performace, since these were supposedly the weak points of the laptop. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi, there is a Twinhead E10 at PC Fair for RM999 (512MB) or RM1099 (1GB), 60GB HDD, 10.2", etc. Anybody can comment on this? Very tempting to buy for usual office, travel & internet (no gaming or video downloading). It definitely look and feels much better than the 8.9" Aspire 1 or the Ee series.

Thanks.

Hi,
I have a Twinhead 12K (model E12KT). I am thinking to add-on more memory and change to a faster processor. Mine is a basic unit with 512mb DDR PC2700 and Mobile AMD Sempron 3000+ processor. I am not sure how much memory i can add-on and the maximum processor I can upgrade to. Anyone here has the manual or online copy to share? Has anyone upgrade this laptop before? What is the limits of the harddisk I can go for?

Thank you.

you only have 1 ram slot and the maximum support is 1gb
you may change your harddisk to to 500gb at least
for processor,i think is kinda difficult for you to change

marcus20125, Thanks for the information. Sad to know that it can only support 1gb RAM. Anyway, good enough for me as I am a lite user. By the way, where is the harddisk located? I opened up the back piece and can only see the RAM and processor?
