Okay, I may have missed something (and it's kinda hard to google the forum with vague keywords), but I wish someone could help or enlighten me.

Trying to play some WMV HD files in 1080P

[code]Video: Windows Media Video 9 1920x1080 29.97fps 5000kbps [Raw Video 0]
Audio: Windows Media Audio 48000Hz stereo 128kbps [Raw Audio 1]

Video stutters all the way when using VMR9 (hardware acceleration on). I got VC-1 ticked in DXVA setting.
Video plays just fine when hardware acceleration is off, although CPU usage is a bit on the high side (around 50%~60%, since I'm on dual core).

I don't have hardware acceleration problems with H264 1080P (DXVA), only WMV.

I have:
A64 X2 5000+
ATI HD4200 w/Catalyst 11.6
K-lite Codec Pack
MPC-HC
WinXP SP3

Strange... VC-1 is different from WMV, theoretically VC-1 Dxva decoder only work with VC-1 video.
And try to use the faster video renderer, eg VMR7/VMR9/EVR windowed mode, custom renderer is 3D mode need a really fast GPU, but VMR7 may have quality problem.

For decoding, try to use the default decoder by microsoft, its much faster than FFmpeg and post processing is enabled by default.
second thing is to use OpenGL renderer but your IGP is Radeon... sweat.gif

Some more details on one of the videos

all renderer mode (VMR/EVR) will have video stutter, like every 2 seconds (literally unwatchable). System default plays fine, but I assume it's not hardware accelerated and processing is done by CPU.
what is the default decoder by Microsoft? how do i set/get that thing?

should i give wmp11 a try?

thanks for noting. yea, probably the GPU was too slow... it seems like WMV HD is very GPU demanding, since i don't have problem with 1080P H.264 videos. sweat.gif
