Just use VideoLAN Video Player. It has embeded so many codecs into the programs and you wont have to install the codecs one by one. It also plays quicktime movie, use less RAM and it loads up faster. It practically plays EVERYTHING, with some exceptions such as midi and realplayer files.
And it is FREE and the source-code are available if you're interested in tweaking it.
Never worries about codecs again!
