Well im not sure klite mega codec default mode will install what codec to ur system,
but did u get any message while playin the video files in wmp11?

u can check what audio/viode decoder using by wmp6.4 by :
right click > properties > advanced > filters in use.
this might help u diagnostic the av decoder problem.

The ogg direct show filter from the first page should be removed since the project is dead, and its buggy.

If u dun mind using a commandline interface player and playing ur video in low quality mode(means might look abit jerky, or wierd artifact when deblocking is disabled, or even downscaled resolution), then i recommend u use mplayer, it uses ffmpeg libavcodec to decode avc. with the "low quality" tweaks it can decode as fast as coreavc.
Else buy a new computer

VMR9 is usefull only if u have dual core/smp/multithreaded cpu, ffdshow can use the VMR9 internal queue becoz the video renderere is execute at another thread, thus performance will increase.

remember to activate the vmr9 queue in ffdshow, and check it through ffdshow osd see if its work for u(tick Queued samples in osd), and remember change the output color space to YUY2(recommended) or RGB32

i think its some program(wlm transparent effect?) interfered with overlay mixer, i experienced it b4.

err its relog? or dun use transparent effect and desktop contact.

if still cannot, dl media player classic and use VMR7/9, or dun use overlat mixer in wmp, or use mplayer's OpenGL video renderer
(use above method to play is slow compare to overlay mixer...)

yeah vmr9 is useless to most user coz don one use multimonitor, costum pixel/smart shader effects.

vmr7 will use overlay when it can, just a litte slower than overlay mixer.

vmr use rgb32 color space(depend on gc/desktop color resolution) while overlay mixer use yv12 color space

btw vmr use advanced scaler, overlay mixer i think is fast bilinear or bilinear.

btw, overlay mixer doesnt work with rgb colorspace.

well nice benchmark, nice to hear tht vmr9 is the fastest.
btw my previous post was talking about video renderer quality lol.

even nowwadays almost all video codecs use yv12 colorspace, but with vmr or opengl video renderer, the output quality will improved as they perform yv12 to rgb conversion,
but hardly noticable unless u have very large monitor.

set the ffdshow audio mixer like this:

change all the value to 2 or 3 if the sound is too low, or disable drc.

it doesnt matter what player u use, the video thumbnail extractor only support wmv, mpeg and avi(if the vfw decoder present) iirc.
try remove the thumb.db file(need to disable file hidden trough folder options.) and press F5, window will create a new one for u.

if it doesnt show the thumbnail means u dun have the vfw decoder installed.
they are not same video format it is? fourCC not same also will have the same problem too.

the video thumbnails file name is thumbs.db.
