I tried Symantec Antivirus Corporate and it sucks because it uses a lot of resources and eat up my RAM..even at 1GB RAM. Then I switched to NOD32.. Not satisfied yet, because NOD32 slowed down the process of copying or transferring files from/to your harddisk or portable hdd... still looking / testing for other AV. eTrust is definitely a no..because it doesnt detect many virus and keylogger. The same goes to AVG. I am going to try Kaspersky AV soon. Am I too paranoid ?

Yah I want to do that too..but I don't know which is the proper setting + I am lazy to try. I attach AMON setting screen. Notes: Symantec doesn't slow down the file transfer. @bean_man: yah, it's pretty bad, especially when transferring huge files, even between two drives in one harddisk or portable harddisk.

QUOTE(bean_man @ Jan 12 2007, 10:44 AM) Hi, The capture doens't show the level of protection you have chosen. look it up under AMon,setup, options tab. If you have advande Heuristics turned on. This would be a probable cause as AH does some form of sandboxing causing it to slow down. but i curious to know if any AV programs you have found that will not do this given the setting levels are same for both NOD32 and that AV program? Cause I'm using NOD32 right now and i when i transfer from HDD to portable HDD, i always temporarily stop my AMON to speed it up.... 80-120Gb transfer isn't fun when you have to wait very long.... I don't think it's a good idea to turn off Heuristics.. Previously when I use Symantec AV, I don't feel it slows down file transfer. I just feel lagging during startup and working with other stuff.

QUOTE(bean_man @ Jan 15 2007, 10:31 AM) Hi, turning off heuristics temporarily to speed up transfer of files that you have previously scanned is OK. At least in my 2cents opinion... But you should activate it back upon completion of big transfer. In NOD32 heuristics got 2 type, standard and advanced, if you select advanced they supposedly peform some sort of sandboxing technique. This makes scanning time much longer. after all the trouble...I switched back to Symantec AV corporate. to configure AMON on and off for just transferring files is really troublesome..and not only transfer files. I realize when I extract files from archive like zip or rar, it also slows down. plus when installing software...imagine scanning every single files you write to harddisk..secure yeahh
