A server needs one more thing other than Antivirus, Firewall and Antispyware. It needs Host based Intrusion Prevention Systems (HIPS). Examples:

Novatix Cyberhawk (free)

Winpatrol
Prevx
Blink eEye

Formerly known as 'Novatix Cyberhawk'.
It is a HIPS (Host Intrusion Prevention System).

It detects suspicious behaviour to the system rather than using signature files like Antivirus or Antispyware.
Sort of like UAC in Vista but more advanced.

Usually used in a server rather than a client.

Threatfire is supposed to be used in a mission-critical server environment, not home.
It's technically a HIPS (Host Intrusion Prevention System), not an antivirus.

Think of HIPS as a bodyguard. Are you a celeb or just a nobody that needs no bodyguard?
Don't bog down your PC with unnecessary software.

most virus comes from thumbdrives nowadays, so disabling autorun on thumbdrives are key. avira provides that, perfect for XP which still do autorun from usb.

vista/win7 disables usb autorun, so mse is just fine for me, light n fast. even detects malware javascripts when i'm surfing, and removing ads from freeware installers lol sorry yahoo!

the latest avira version 10 blocks autorun by default. if that failed, the pc is already infected.

if infected, get dr web cureit. if still not clean, get kaspersky virus removal tool. both are free by the way.

remove old avira, install new clean version.

Kaspersky already been available for free a long time ago but people don't even know it even exist.

Zonealarm Free AV

It uses Kaspersky engine. Just turn off its average firewall like I do.

Stop pirating Kaspersky, use it free legally.

What CIA thinks of your AV - APnews

After Wikileaks exposed Vault7 from CIA, we now know:

1. Comodo and Bitdefender are very secure
2. Avira, F-secure and AVG are kacang
3. Kaspersky have flaw but already closed. Being owned by former KGB, they are natural CIA enemy so they will improve their code.
