Hi Sifus...

I am using Alpine cda-9887...its a great HU, but I want to use USB to listen to music.
Got any solution coz im trying to buy the external USB cable (KCA-620M) but unable to find it.
Is there any option for me to have USB capability with the cda-9887 or have to change the HU?

Appreciate any insights....

Very hard to find (however, if have patient sure one day can lay your hands on it!) & I finally got mine also an used unit! Now my 9887 has usb, ipod & KCE-300BT too , as good as any latest HU in the market yeah

Oh, have to knee down to all friend-friends & relatives begging them to help at anywhere they could to get hold of the usb&BT adapters at overseas, no joke! However, till today after have it installed I'd never use the usb or ipod features due I'm on cd listening BT a definite YES as clarity is to me top-notch & easy to use!

Considering ours oldskool 9887 is an highend HU which hardly come by nowadays, you should keep it for good bro Just wide-spread all your possible contacts to get hold of both the usb+BT units then you are good as any latest HU stuffs in the market, I should say

Yes, its great HU and looks nice in my E36 also. I do want to keep this HU if possible. But if at some point I still cant find the USB adapter, probably will have to part with it and get a new one with a USB function as I will need to use USB function. Not a fan of CDs ...

Aiyo, breaks my heart to see this happening.. see this is why la when those idiots at alpine made the player they didn't think of that USB. THey should have just incorporated the USB port somewhere in the player right? If they did then it would be the best mid-end player ever developed in history.. lol

Used to have hours and hours and hours tuning it till I actually fell asleep in my car with the engine running, haha. Yeah, but now I had to give it all up and confined to my stupid hopeless stock VW player. So much so that I only listen to the damn radio and when it was election period I just had it turned off..lol.

Well, I won't label them as 'idiots' (& as a human being we shouldn't labeling one another as we too have our weaknesses) as there're many other choices avail eg. 9886 or as a matter of fact, one can just look for the usb adpater if they eventually wanted usb or even the Ipod for greater storage accessibility yeah! Opting for 9887 is very much an individual preference, moreover it's an older unit of that era greats which again, similarly to P80rsII that doesn't come with usb but as an optional features.

Chill bro don't take it so harshly but just enjoy what we have! Otherwise, if have extra cash then can consider of upgrading it to an unit with built-in usb features yeah. Having said that, nothing is perfect!

Unless you, unlike me, gotta wait every 26th of the month the get the cash in the bank account? Then I'm sure you would have the privilege to buy 9887 then later find out that, shit.. it's got no usb/ipod.. oh but its ok.. i'll just get the 9886 then or something else.. or.. i know... i'll just buy another car.. one with 9887 the other with 9886.. or hang on.. I just get a couple more cars to install other HU which has other kind I/O .. yeah?

USB technology has been there ages ago. Would you be able to tell me why then, they've got to charge you extra for usb/ipod connectors? Do you even know how obscene is the price for an ALpine Ipod connector solely because it is proprietary..? The joke is.. after a few years... apple just decided that.. nehhhh.. we gonna do away with the 30pin connector.. we gonna be special and introduce the lightning connector yeah!!

But poor fellas like some of us here who got the 9887 can go bang balls la.. lol.

it was sold as a set in the overseas... the USB, Bluetooth interface thingy... at the introduction stages for quite a while...

sadly for local market its sole separately since the start... not alpine's fault btw...

Hahaha I am contended with my 9887 at least & have no whatsoever regrets of indulging into such a piece of gem I should say! Just sharing only as I see you are sort of condemning the maker & still is yeah bro, just an HU only, no big deal actually However, am glad that you're on 9887 too!
