QUOTE(Quasi-Suave @ Sep 11 2013, 04:39 PM) So its MYR3.7 vs MYR7.25 (converted at 2.5x). That's almost 2x (approx. 95% upside) on your current salary after conversion. I think it's acceptable esp. if your role has the potential to grow in the future. In a related news, a bank recently offered someone SGD4.3k for a role. That same person currently earns MYR8k++ here. Talk about low-balling. Similarly, some idiot recruiter told me that my "realistic" salary in SGD is XXX which is equal to 15% upside of my MYR pay ....after conversion to SGD. So if I earned MYR10k, he was thinking that SGD4.6k (MYR10k/2.5 + 15%) is a fair price for my labour. I promptly told him off. After the above 2 real-life scenarios, I'm seriously wondering about the ethical and mental (short) comings of our southern recruiters. I guess they are looking to recruit monkeys with their peanut level pay. QUOTE(ky_khor @ Sep 11 2013, 05:30 PM) Since you do not want to simply change job in Sg (it's troublesome for non PR), you should look into job scope and its contribution to your career development as well. IMO without taking any other thing into consideration, I won't take 3.7 to 2.9 offer. Hmm I'm thinking the same. Offer is tempting but it's quite a steep cut for meMy gf got offered 2.5k sgd as freshgrad (she just graduated this June). She rejected it because of the job scope. QUOTE(alaskanbunny @ Sep 11 2013, 11:39 PM) I joined my current company as an intern last nov and then till now... |

So I've decided I will not take offer not worth my pay cut. Roles and career aside but the contract position is kinda a demotion to me. I know shouldn't complain but it doesn't feel right to me. Recruiter said to call her later. Lets see what she wants to say

QUOTE(vincent829 @ Sep 14 2013, 04:04 PM) Agree with you, especially your recruiter part. hmm so my current pay is 3.7k if they do offer 3.2k.. what do you guys think?I will say that it shall be your current MYR x 0.8 - 0.9 = SGD you shall get. if 0.9, most likely no need hesitate, just go if else are ok, if 0.8, got to think twice, if 0.7 think 3x, if less than that, forget it. Note: Only my own opinion. No offense. Peace! |

QUOTE(almeizer @ Sep 15 2013, 06:30 PM) Definitely you can save more with SGD 3.2k compare to RM 3.7k. The question is does it worth for you to leave your families and friends by start working in a new environment? my sis is in sg but gf is in kl but the issue is with career... can't decide what i wanna do as in which path should i take haihs... |
